i actually don't know. i just plug it in to an amp. i never really tried plugging it in straight to the computer, and i agree unamplified ukes will sound better live and/or in person.

The pickup results in a better recording, though I suspect that live the unamplified uke will sound better (or perhaps a better microphone setup).
How does the pick up sound when recorded directly? (i.e., straight to the camera / computer w/o the amp)
