Anyone have any idea how much one of these cost back then? I found my dads old D8 up in my closet and there was a receipt in a brown bag dated 1973 but I believe it was just for the fuel (I am guessing the engine was bought around the same time though)
My engine (the one in the video) I had from new as a small boy: it dates from the late 1980s. The D8 model has been around a long time (I think at least since the 1970s, possibly much earlier), and is still produced to this day, so, without more information, your engine could date from any time within the last 30-40 or even more years...
Thanks for that. The seller said that having a 6 spoke flywheel and grey base dated it to the 60's and it's never been fired. Have to wait and see how it looks when it arrives

All that I know is that the D16 cost about £100 from Hamley's in about 1990.
