  • 2 days in vinegar will do the same thing and much cheaper.

    Vinegar will also cause excessive pitting. Best bet is a Ultrasound hotbath.

  • If you don't want ur engine to rust in the first place wipe it down with phosphoric acid and it wont rust.

  • These products actually do work really well. It works by removing the iron from iron oxide (rust). It does not remove the iron from the steel due to the fact that steel has a stronger bond to iron than oxides. This is why this works well on gun finishes as a lot of them include oxides, such as parkerizing (zinc oxide or manganese dioxide) phosphates. Dirt and oil will not prevent this stuff from working, but will prolong the amount of time needed to get the desired effect.
