I was brought to tears today, I am 37 years old, it has always been a life time dream of mine to see a shuttle launch. That opportunity has passed me by. Never pass on your dreams, do what you have to do to make it happen. If only I could have seen that then.
@heathermillerdmz i used to live in florida and ive seen a few launches. its an amazing sight to see first hand. im sorry you didnt get a chance to see one. the sound is almost overpowering.
@MegaLebanon100 sad... you are so out of touch. there will be no 2012 shuttle launch. Do some research or read a newspaper or something... You voted for Obama, am I right??
I was a couple miles away looking at one go up from a freeway bridge (everyone had stopped driving and just got out they cars) and we could feel it pretty strong! i would love to see how it feels and sounds that close!
Such is the power of hydrogen; the most plentiful source of energy in the universe. Thanks for posting this, I want to witness this close up at least once before last launch does anyone have any recommended free viewing areas in the cape area(the closer the better).
@barthoedemaker yeah, its a pretty powerful thumping mixed with a crackling sound and can usually be heard up to 40 miles away, of course if the atmospheric conditions allow, you can sometimes hear it even further however during the Apollo launches (Saturn V) it was common for people 125 miles away and further to hear that beast, then again it was the worlds biggest rocket.
Rare? It's on You Tube, how rare can it be?

wtf is wrong with the big countdown clock from t-11 secs down it seems to randomly miss out seconds or wait too long at other seconds?!!
midnightmilo 11 months ago
Rare only because it misses the majority of the launch. Camera doesn't even pan up to follow the shuttle.
