@bloonscanttouchme he is upset, because the whole time he was really on earth instead of a weird planet of talking apes. So now the future of earth is by command of apes and the rocket he got there from is gone. If you do not understand watch the movie. Its sad how the apes hurt Tayler.
so this highly educated astronaut could not figure out he was on Earth the whole time? Even though they had humans, oceans, a breathable atmosphere, and horses???
Right for confused people, in rise of the planet of the apes they find a cure for some disease they test it on apes and the apes become super intelligent but in processing / testing of the disease a man breathes in the cure and coughs on a pilot obviously the monkeys take over that state but it spreads cos the disease is now on the pilot and the monkeys take over! Also part way through the film they watch tv and there is a newscast on tv of a rocket launch these are the people in this movie, t
An excellent and interesting mix from 2 of the best sci-fi flicks of all time. 1968 was a great year for them (thing of A CLOCKWORK ORANGE, also Stanley Kubrick, like 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY). Thank you, Arbritrary!!!
@SFO14 He was going around the cliff, and remember that the statue of liberty was blown to bits, so you can't see it until you pass the cliff, the statue couldn't tower of the horizon.
@minamu8 NO the Song "Also sprach Zarathustra" is a Symphonic poem from the german Classical Composer Richard Georg Strauss († 8 September 1949). YOU MANICAS; DARN YOU ALL WHO THINKS THIS SONG IS THE THEME FOR "2001 A SPACE ODYSSEY" DARN YOU ALL!!!!!
@Lagerfeld2008 I knew that. I'm saying this was USED as the theme song to the film. All of the music used in the film was not original, and I'm aware of that. I also know all of the people who composed the songs because I own the soundtrack.
"Atmospheres" - Ligeti
"Also sprach Zarathustra" - Richard Strauss
"Blue Danube" - Strauss II
"Requiem" - Ligeti
"Lux Aeterna" - Ligeti
"Gayane Ballet Suite" - Aram Khachaturian
So there. Plus I have film on Blu-ray and the book. I am a huge fan.
@xHennax1994 The humans destroyed themselves, the apes took over while he was in the shuttle, where 18 months of his time were 2000 years of Earth's time.
I would hate for that to happen in real life
sundance401 4 days ago
Why did you add the 2001 music to this?
This scene didn't need "some guy with a Youtube account" editing it.

One of the most powerful moments in all cinematic history, even now 42 years after i saw it. I was ten when it reached my country in 1969

Also I should add how each film takes a polar opposite view of the future: One apocalyptic, the other, optomistic.

You realize of course what that scene means? It means almost all of planet of the apes takes place in New Jersey.
