So takeda is the only clan that gets this ending? I just finished the game for the first time with takeda, and was wondering if anything in the ending was clan-specific. Is there anything else? For instance,I think the part where it says "we drove the christians from the land and returned to the old ways" must be different if you happened to convert to christianity.
@fowad27 He always talks about your skirl in bat-uhl. The only thing that changes is the statue. What you're talking about is the campaign outro...talks about the shogun's immediate future, including throwing the Christians out of Japan.
@Laconic913 oh, ok. I didn't know how customized the endings were since I refused to watch the other endings until I played them myself. Still haven't ;) So I watched the other endings and they're a lot less customized than I thought. Meh, no big deal. Still a great game.

i just completed the game for the second time yesterday on hard... i think the ending was rubbish - i wanted to know how well i had done ie how many years it took me, how many battles won / lost, etc. But no, just a movie..
The videos can be found on the Shogun TW CD... I played many games, but Shogun has the best ending I've seen. The producers could have thrown in something common and nobody would notice, but instead they made an original and brilliant ending. It shows how Japan changed dramatically since th events in the game, but the legend remains!
I'm noticing a pattern. Each ending features a stature relevant to what each clan was famous for. Takeda's cavalry. Shimazu samurai. Now having never played the game I would not know, but is the Oda and Uesugi clans in it? If so I bet Uesugi's statue is a ninja and Oda's an arquebusier. Ichijo would be an archer. Etc etc
Actually, yes, Oda and Uesugi are in it. Uesugi was teh first guy I played as. Oda's statue is a samurai in a battle stance (Shimazu's was actually an Arquebusier, because Shimazu was so accepting of new technolgy), and Uesugi's statue is a Buddhist warrior monk (Who, admittedly, DOES look quite a bit like a ninja). It was Imagawa who used the Ninja so much.
At any rate, it's probably one of my favorite games. You should get it.
back then they had to use 2 disks for shogun total war, the campaign and vids were on the second disk, so having different endings would have taken more time and maybe more space
