I like this movie very much...and its sad that church is so stupid and middle ages with this issue. Unfortunately its shows true that they excommunicate people, and close somewhere to "heal" homosexuality using sometimes electricity..completely down syndrome--even worst because down s.is real illness and parents more accept down syndrome then gay son which is not illness !! SHAME.they should accept both. thanks that I'm not longer in the church.

That's what was sad with him, he thought he had to give up his faith - but it was always there, the Mormons were trying to make him give up his faith in the Lord for their human beliefs against people being themselves.

We can all dream to be loved like this, hopefully for all it has happened or will.

This movie was actually made by a man who was raised Mormon and even went on a mission but was gay. He said in an interview that the idea for this movie came from him wondering what it would be like if the guy he was today ran into the person he was when he was on his mission.

I don't think that this movie was made by 'Mormon Haters'. I believe it was made to show that love should not be condemned because of who it involves. Chris and Aaron were not hurting anyone only falling in love with each other, and for that Aaron was excommunicated from his church. The Mormon Church DOES do that.

But that's the point, it's a happy ending. When the really awful thing happens with Aaron and the knife, I almost stopped watching because it was *so* heart-breaking. But once you get to those final few minutes before the credits roll -- it's pure joy. I don't think you could find an ending *less* happy than this story. It's a perfect happy ending, you know they're gonna be happy and be okay. Which is what I like about it.
