LouieGee suggested a few changes that would make the translation more accurate. i agreed with him but said that your translation was great in spite of a few lapses. Incidentally, from his comments and compliments he seems to think so too. Keep up the good work. :)
@HaydeeF1 I wish I understood all the comments between you and "LouieGee"....I assure you that it was a challenge for me to do this video since I do not know Portuguese. I thank you for your compliment and am so pleased that you liked the video. :-))
Bravo!
Também colocaria "my god, come to see, take a close look at a singing city"
E também "until the break of the day" ou "Until dawn".
Na minha humilde opinião, a tradução fica mais condizente.
@Adamfulgence You're welcome! ;) I had no idea you couldn't speak portuguese, sorry! ;) Anyway, I was suggesting a few changes in the translation so that the lyrics would be more accurate. If, anyday, you feel like posting another video with such changes, let me know so I can help you. And congratulations for the video... it's great! Both our countries produced some of the greatest talents and rhythms in the last century: Samba, Bossa-nova, Jazz, Blues, Rock n' Roll... gotta love it!
Thank you, Eileen once more for a wonderful video!
How not to love Brazil? And you say well, it's a Country full of great musicians. Luckily, Chico Buarque de Hollanda was well known in Italy specially in the 60s and 70s when we could see him on TV often enough, and many of his songs were translated and sung by italian singers.
A banda is maybe the most popular, but I remember wonderful Com açucar, com afeto.
Vai passar is new to me, can it be Elis Regina the girl in the photo at 4,00?
@b13ne Thank you so much, Bruno! It's always so nice to hear from you. :-)) I don't know who is in that picture but I know someone who will know. I'll get back to you when I find out. Very, very best wishes to you!!
Bravo!! Beautiful video!! Thumbs up!! Thanks for posting!! Your videos bring us viewers beautiful photos accompanied by great music, art, history, and a wonderful message. GREAT work!! : )
Thank you for this big gift, thank you in a very big way. And thank you plenty for associating your video, to me. That makes me feel grateful, to you. One kiss, and please be well.
And he's the only one doing it Eileen. It's very hard and very much impossible to put any other above him. I can't at least. John Lennon, Cohen, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan and many others don't quite share Chico Buarque's measure, or standard. This is not important of course (comparisons), but only goes to suggest that he is in fact the best. Opinion only, and need to set his talent aside from others that are equally blessed with unique talent.
It's about Brazil and the Brazilian people, MPB is exactly that, but at the same time is not. It's about people, human action and individuals because we can take each of his words and use them in our own lives, in every small element of what we do, say, think and feel. That's his gift: his songs hit you straight in the heart. Can't stop listening, again and again. It's an emotive act, not intellectual, even though the vehicle is intellectual (song, words, expression of thoughts, in a melody).
Eileen ... what can I say? Marvelous music, video, images, lyrics and everything. This song is only one more testament to Chico's atypical talent. His songs, music, words, thoughts, vision and the way they all relate. It goes far beyond Brazil even though most of the themes relate to Brazil as all he says fits in all things and anyone can relate to the messages he sends. And this song is one more example of that.
Sensational aerial view of Corcovado.Samba dancers and music are always a treat for . I would recommend Rio for any seasoned traveler . The cultural and visual experience alone make up for any travel inconvenience Thank you for the video .Spring weather hasn't happened yet This tropical mini vacation was most appreciated.
What a lovely dedication for our Dear Manuel!!..Chico is great! ...and also your video.
Opressed people always try to find a way to express and affirm life, and carnaval at those times of dictatorship was a hope of freedom, the path to express joy into a cruel regime, dictatorships hate people joy, they separate people, confront them, and don`t like people joint together till for a carnaval. Always the spirit of life defeats death.
Such sunny and happy music! Very Brazilian. Thanks, now I understand the lyrics!
Great that you discovered Chico Buarque! His musical value is so much more than just this. As a singer I am not such a huge fan of his, but as a composer, I find him amazing! An endless list of fantastic songs! Recorded by many other artists in several languages. Fantastic artist!
The sound of the song is very happy and your clip is very nice. It was a pleasure to listen and watch Eileen. I wish you a good weekend with a lot of smiles.Greetings Marc
