So guys, heres my problem, i have 2 separate disks, one has XP , and i instaled Windows 7 in the second, i was expecting the DUAL boot screen, so i could select XP for work, and windows 7 for gaming. but it boots directly to XP and 7 is nowhere to be found. what can i do??
@XxDARKKROWNxX Try Pressing F8, (could be a different F key so you may have to try them in turn), key while the computer boots-up, select safe-mode... This may take some time to load completely, may be 15 minutes. If this loads, just try a re-boot as normal.

jez you explain the very long way to get to the bootloader, why not just tell them to go to Control panel -->System-->Advance-->Under the "Startup and recovery click settings.
Have you tried to boot-up in Safe Mode? Useually hold F8 key during boot up select Safe Mode>>> This mat take some time ans appear to pause but just wait and wat, 5 minutes. If Tthis works just shut down as normal... The try re-booting as normal..
ok i have a acer cpu. an idk how this happened but when i bootup its beyond dual bootup it offers me microsoft windows xp pro. three! times the 1st one is the only one tht actually works how do i delete the other two please reply soon as possible i need help lol
Not when you go to control panel/system/advanced/Start up and Recovery.
It's much safer to teach beginners to do it that way, instead of telling them to edit important system files, because it often needs one mistake and they are screwed and they then need a an experienced user to clean up their mess.
this is a good way but it takes a bit of time...may I suggest...click start...click run...enter msconfig...click boot.ini...and change the timeout...and done.

@WolfSentry
Try the F8 Key on boot- this may give yo and option to boot form the drive you want.
BIOS change may do it, "Boot sequence" more pemament though, would need to change back.
There are Boot Menu freeware programs on the web which may be better.
As XxDARKKROWNxX says :)

@XxDARKKROWNxX It Safe Mode does not work then you may need to reinstall Windows, or try a repair windows option

@XxDARKKROWNxX Try the Computer Resore Disk OR it may be a BIOS issue OR Hard Drive connection, OR bad harddrive

msconfig only allows 3 seconds at the lowest so far as I know, so using msconfig you would still see the delay for 3 seconds...
Thanks any way :)
