I love your playing. Beautiful phrasing, creativity and fluency. I'm a sax player, and have been teaching myself jazz guitar for about 3 years. I've got the Epiphone version of your Gibson original. Thanks for posting these sharp and well recorded videos. I'll be watching again and again to learn technique and style. Ian.
Hey Grahambop! I love the tone! I have a Heritage H575 which is very similar to your Es-175 and I am strongly considering the Roland Cube 80x. Your tone in this video is gonna have me at a store with my guitar to try one out this Wednesday! Beautiful guitar by the way!
Lester Young said you should know the lyrics to the songs you play, so here they are: Yesterdays, Yesterdays Days I knew as happy sweet sequestered days Olden days, Golden days Days of mad romance and love Then gay youth was mine And truth was mine Joyous free and flaming life, Forsooth was mine Sad am I, Glad am I For today I'm dreaming of, Of yesterdays Then gay youth was mine The truth was mine Sad am I, Glad am I For today I'm dreaming of, Of yesterdays
@grahambop one of better tones ive heard was a Godin 5th avenue with a kent armstrong mini humbucker through a roland. the name on the price tag influences the ultimate price of the instrument so much these days it fogs peoples vision of whats great and whats still great, yet far too pricey. that Gibby youve got is gorgeous though, always wanted a 175. right now im playin an L-5 style archtop i built (sitka top, maple back&sides)
Not sure I understand your comment! Ballads like 'Yesterdays' are still played at most jazz gigs I've seen and are part of the jazz musician's repertoire.
Very Good !!

To TUBERIA44: Thanks.
I'm using a Gibson ES175 (1976) and Roland Cube 80x amp.

Very nice classic jazz sound, sounds like the perfect gear. What amp are you using? Good phrasing. Thank you.

Thanks for the kind comments guys. If I was an executive I could afford a real fancy guitar like a Benedetto. But I'm happy with my good ol' 175!
