  • Debbie Reynold's husband left her for Elizabeth Taylor :-0 can you believe that anyone could leave this cutie?

  • Every time I see this I think: that looks like so much fun! and then I realize entertainment at parties doesn't look like that anymore... yet another dream I'll never get the chance to live out

  • you just can't beat the classics. simple as that.

  • I love this film! Bloody brilliant, been watching since I was 5 years old. :D

  • I'd be disappointed - that looked a delicious cake!

  • Learned this dance for an audition. SUPPPPPEEEERRRR FAST XD

  • These are real women, not horribly tanned and plastic. Anyone else find these women attractive? Gosh culture sure has gone to the gutter. I'm 16 and even I see this.

  • @6darkzexion I agree, but I guess that's just the way it is - culture changes and so does the perceptions of beauty, which is subjective anyway. Debbie Reynolds is such a cutie pie though, lol. My second favourite piece in the film. n_n

  • 1952: girls singing and dancing innocently

    2011: girls dancing with poles

  • all i do the whole night through is dream of you...do do do doooo

    <33 xD

  • Debbie is adorable! <3

  • This is even more amazing to me when I discovered that Debbie Reynolds is not even a trained dancer! Wow.

  • now that i know where you live *gestures to cake*

MY FAVORITE LINE OF EVERYTHING EVER

  • かわいい♡

  • Lol!!! Call me a cab

    Okay ur a cab!

Didn't get it first time I watch it cuz I didnt hear it clearly but now that I do I am gonna troll all my friends with that

  • Debbie is adorable.

  • HAVE AN AUDITION AND HAVE TO SING THIS SONG! OMG CAN NOT DANCE LIKE THAT!!!

  • Debbie Reynoldssssss <3

  • Girl : Hey boy ♥ I dream about you last night ♥.

    Boy : Awwww ♥

    Girl : You died.

  • 0:08

Karma can be kind as well as cruel.

  • it's so adorable the way he smiles at her when she starts dancing. gah! i love it.

  • The cake is a lie.

  • sharpfiles.blogspot

  • Gene's face when he sees Debbie come out of the cake, awwww.

  • @KalishaWasasala Yeah. He couldn't wait to lick... the icing.

  • I love this!!!!!

  • Singin' In the Rain is Betty's favourite movie in Mad Men - I wonder what that says about her.

  • I hate musicals,

    But I LOVE this movie.

  • @videoman223 same

  • I wish people still danced like that.

  • I want her job!

  • Note some of these dance steps......Michael & Janet Jackson certainly learned a lot from this movie!!

  • 0:13 instant replay.

  • I had to dance in this for the musial of ages 11-14

  • Debbie is Soooo cute! She.s still around (saw her a cuppla years as Grace Adler's Mom in "Will and Grace". She even hummed a bar of "Good Morning" outside the appartment door before her entry!)

  • @MultiGeraghty Did she? That's fantastic :)

  • LOVELY, I totally need to learn this dance, I especially love the move at 1:13 <3

  • dignity, always dignity ;D!

  • This movie is one of the best EVER MADE, through and through! I love the music, the plots, the dances, everything, why don't they appreciate these wonderful movies these days? :D

  • Debbie Reynolds was and is the epitome of "cute" and was talented in so many ways that the kids of Hollywood are not today Whether that is the result of the studio training or not I don't know , but the raw talent was surely there when she was discovered She remains my all time favourite and brings back lovely memories of seeing her when I was a young movie-goer with my Dad

  • @mariobumbo570 Debbie was raised in the studio system and excelled quite nicely. She is one of the few actors from Hollywood's "Golden Age" that just won't lie still.

  • I know people have made the joke, but we defiantly know that cake was a lie

  • Aww man, you cut out her throwing the cake! :D

  • During the holiday season a few years ago this song was on our store's holiday CD and I about DIED when I heard it. Everytime it would come on the staff would run to the stockroom to find me and bring me to the floor so I could hear it. Those minute-and-a-half snippets always made my work day that much brighter.

  • The cake is a lie.

  • @eugenepaek So, you played the game too, huh?

  • My grandparents ruined my life with MGM etc. The real world never measured up. But aaaaah, great memories. Sometimes, the imagination is better anyway :)

  • loved this when I was a child, love it still when I'm 18 :P thank god my parents had great taste in movie classics! :D

  • lady ga ga got nothing on this xd

  • That being said, it really does seem like the level of screenwriting has kinda' gone downhill since this movie came out.

  • While I do tend to lean toward those who like older music, I have to say that all decades have had their share of crappy music. We only remember the good stuff, but all decades have good stuff too. Problem is now we have a culture that by and large doesn't appreciate it. Too generally throw out the line "music today sucks" is a slam on all the good artists that are out there.

  • "Now that I know where you live I'd like to see your home."

  • @babyletme thank u =)

  • 1:20 is my favorite part... what kind of move/dance/music is this called in 1:20? I don't know how, but everytime I see that move the first thing comes to my mind is the image of Tom the cat dancing hysterically (from classic Tom and Jerry cartoon)

  • J'adore cet extrait. Merci à mon ami pour ce partage. J'aime quand la vie pétille ainsi.

    ;o)

  • I am *dying* to see the part where Debbie accidentally throws a pie at Jean Hagen (voiced like Cyndi Lauper).

  • Debbie's gape at :10 is priceless.

  • Considering 1 in 3 Americans today are now obese, Gene Kelly would have had to find a much larger cake to fit modern showgirls :D

  • @M1sT3rM4nJr But even modern showgirls tend not to be obese.

  • wat years were these?

  • is she like a showgirl in this scene?

  • "now that I know where you live, I'd like to see you home"

  • Oh,for women to remember the grace and sheer womanliness that is ours if we only let it flow. I'm an old fashioned girl and pleased to be modest and lady-like without being a prude. It's almost forgotten art.

  • A time as men and women respected each others instead of dissing each other. A lady was a lady not like today a ...... and men were allowed to be gentle men .. man i wish those old school things would be more appreciated in today's world.

  • @bcbudful I wish I could like your comment 100 times. I listen to 40's music on Sirius and when I go to a party I just wanna cover my ears.

  • @bcbudful you do realize that the 50s were a very sexist era...(men to women).

  • Man I wish formal dinner parties had surpises like this!

  • 22 people hate the cat's meooowww!

  • it took me so long to figure out that they say "its the cats meow" lol and i am still not sure :D

  • 22 people actually live in a cake

  • @800eddie008 S-U-R-E!!!

  • @800eddie008 : 23 my friend! 23 scrubby People....

    But "So What...?" ;-)

    Greetings from GERMANY

  • lol the cake WAS a lie XD but really, i love this musical a lot.

  • LOL "now that i know where you live . . ." points to cake

  • @BlueFireTigerLion He's talking about the studio she works at, the name is on the cake

  • @BlueFireTigerLion hahah really made me laugh that, very 'grouch marx'ish!

  • " Classic's never dies.." I loooove this movie, even i'm 17 .

  • God this movie was awesome to watch when I was kid. I miss is so much

  • 22 thumbs down!!! wtf

  • wouldent be hard to dance in that string????? just wondering.....

  • Only got round to watching this film last night, think my mates at college thought i was rather strange when i borrowed the film from the library! Most enjoayble film ever! :)

  • que bonita debbie

  • What is that song where the woman is lip-syncing?

  • "No no, don't go! Now that i know where you live..." - Gene Kelly you suave charmer! :P

  • Every time I hear Michael Buble's cover of this song, I'm always trying to up the tempo because this is obviously the right way to sing it :)

  • I, LOVE, THIS, SONG!!! AND HOW THEY DANCE!! JUST LOVE.

  • I've always wondered: Was Cathy Seldon's job at the Coconut Grove the modern equivalent of a stripper?

  • holy shit (i hope this doesn't offend anyone) but i get a bigger boner from watching her dance and perform than looking at some dumwit stripping. she's just so goddamn attractive...and her TALENTS, they make the blood rush to my nether regions.

  • @lawtzelap That,s no way to talk about the mother of a princess haha;-)))

  • Debbie was born in 1932, this movie was made in 1952 so she was 20, not 18.

  • @MrsDanielRadcliffeN1 It really doesn't matter. She did quite a good job considering her young age. Debbie would have done better dramatically in this role if she had have been older, but then her youthful exuberance would have worn off (if such a thing is possible).

  • @MrsDanielRadcliffeN1 The movie was released in 1952, just days after Debbie turned 20. She was actually 19 during filming of the movie.

  • @marie4poche

wow, 19. and judy garland was 16 when on The Wizard of Oz. i miss the days when teen stars were talented.

  • @t1a9c13ful now all the stars arent that talented or not talented at all!:(

  • @6regala

well, some are, but you're right, the majority need acting/ singing lessons! why is it considered enough to only 1)have a pretty face and 2) have the ability to shake their butts? i know girls from regular high school who are better singers!

  • @t1a9c13ful because 1952.

  • Why is Gene so devestatingly handsome?

  • @prettymexy1 I could say because he was Irish American, but I'm Irish American and I don't look 1/3rd as good. And being slim and trim, an excellent dancer, and athletic also helps.

  • @prettymexy1 Um...a good "gene" pool? (Sorry...couldn't resist ;-))

  • i love this !

  • Always love singing to this

  • What are they saying at 1:27? :) And how old is Gene here?

    wonderful as always! <3

  • @Hello2950 They're saying "It's the cat's meow!" I believe...lol And this was made in 1952, so Gene would have been 40.

  • @prettymexy1 ok, haha ^^ First it sounded like they were saying something in spanish, lol X)

And wow, I mean.. for being a 40 yr old, he's in such a good shape. He quit dancing when he was like 75.

+ No matter how old he became, Gene never lost that "handsomeness ;)

  • @Hello2950 Got that right!

  • Debbie is a wonder!!. she was 18 or 19 years old, here, and she perfoms like a trouper. !!.Then?..the BEST SONG in cinema history, "Tammy", then?..perfoming a young girl till old age in "How the west was won"..wonderfully. Now? Singing, dancing, making everybody happy!!. Well, I LOVE people like her. Hoping to keep on perfoming for years!!!!. Carlos

  • gene kelly must have the best smile ever!!

  • im so excited we are doing this musical For drama YAY!!

  • At 1:15 it looks like their trying to shoo away a fart LOL.

  • @hippytreehugger4ever

    hahahaha, That's True!! ;D

  • I can't believe this is the grandmother from HalloweenTown, I had no idea this was her when I watched it.

  • Some of these dance moves were appropriated by both Michael & Janet Jackson years later................makes you appreciate where the inspiration came from (if you didn't know any better!)!!!!!!

  • they just don't create musicals like this anymore.......

    such a shame :(

  • there are girls dressed, singing and dancing just like her but Debbie is the one who calls all your attention :)

  • @lrita She knows where the camera is, knows how to draw attention to herself, and is more polished in her dancing than the chorus. Debbie was, and is, a natural.

  • aww they are so adorable!!

  • lolz

I remember getting that song stuck in my head =D

I never did knew the lyrics, but I had that stuck in my head for a month =D

    I'm a 14 year old girl, and I remember this song since I was 10 =D

  • @EmmaJulieStar lol i've had this song stuck in my head for weeks because i'm one of the dancers for this piece at the school

  • Debbie Reynolds never looked or performed better. Her somewhat over the top energy was perfectly channelled into a flapper era piece. To my mind, this is one of the few "Singing in the Rain" numbers that reminds me more of the late twenties as opposed to 50's MGM musicals. Am I Mad (Men). Time will tell.

  • ahhhh, gene kelly is soooooo incredibly dashing in this scene

  • Debbie is so cute and she has a fantastic pair of legs!

  • Gene was quite attractive for a forty year old! He was in great shape wow! I also thought this part was so cute.

  • has anyone actually tried to do this dance and found they didnt look as good as debbie reynolds

  • lol... what's a old movie without someone doing the Charleston.

  • that smile at 0:44 is enough to make you melt :)

  • wow gene kelly does not look 40 and debbie reynolds does not look 19.

ive only just watched this for the first time i now love the film

  • awwwwwwwwwwww love this scene!

  • how could people not like this??

  • These films are classics and I'm so pleased my film studies course had this as one of the films we were studying :)

  • At 1:14 it looks like their trying to shoo away a fart LOL.

  • @hippytreehugger4ever I laughed so hard when I read this, I had to go back to 1:14 and watch. It really does!

  • I like all the older covers of the song more :c

  • did you all notice, they all have nice legs, they are all toned, and like perfect. lol whats theyre secret

  • summer winter autumn..and spring!

  • Marissa Ann you must know I DO like you

  • 30 years of watching this film... I still laugh hysterically every time she jumps out of that cake smiling like sunshine but then MORTIFIED! Reynolds face is PRICELESS

  • Man, Debbie Reynolds was so hot.

  • upload broadway melody please!

  • one of my favorite musicals. well actually sound of music comes first then this ... but still :)

  • I have watched this movie since I was a kid a feel in love with it. I love classical movies. I think there was a whole lot more talent in those days as actors.

  • First time I saw this movie I was a kid so I didn't pay much attention to it now that I am older I have watched it and have loved it really. I don't no why but I like classic movies a lot. I give this movie thumbs up.

  • "It's the cat's meow!" hee

  • michael buble's version is so much smoother - love it.

and omg im such an old soul. i ADORE gene kelly ♥

  • aw! they left out the cake in the face part.

  • @nanbam123 thats what i was thinking toooooooo

  • nice cake!!!! and cute outfits!

  • gLee

  • :*)

  • "Farewell, Ethel Barrymore!, I must tear myself from your side! - *crrrrraaack* - LOLOLOLOLOL!!! xDDD

    BEST GAG EVER!!!

  • I've always thought that perhaps I wasn't born in the right period. Now I'm f*ckin' SURE!

I'm going crazy about Gene Kelly in his 30's! OoO

  • And to think Debbie had never danced before this. Tutored by the great Gene himself, who tried to tongue kiss her for the final shot, but she refused. [He was a rounder, as they say...]As for me, bring back the Charleston and the kind of music that makes you wannadance.

  • @Alandix thanks for the trivia..he must be one hell of a teacher, she's an amazing dancer! The choreography in this movie is amazing

  • i like their built in dress pockets haha

  • i prefer this version to Michael Bubles new one

gimme a gaggle of shrieking broads anytime to the Bub

  • @macdunald1 Yeah this version is epic... but I still love Michael Buble :) xxx

  • im a coconut girl in my college production!!

  • This song has been in and out of my head for about a week. Always at work, probably because I want to sleep when I'm at work.
