sorry my friends, this is a terrible injury. You will be done for quite some time trying to re-habilitate this. Sadly you will be out even longer if it is the one and only ACL.... Hopefully you didn't commit the "terrible triad" as you will never be the same. Well, not without God's help that is. Sorry, that is just the way we are made.
My friend, you only have one Anterior cruciate ligament, one Posterior cruciate ligament(which apparently you can live without in most cases) , one Medial collateral Ligament, and finally one Lateral Collateral Ligamnet per knee. If you ruptured your ACLs bilaterallly then you have a second chance or you did not fully rupture them. Sure it was not PCL? you can have a stable knee joint without those apparently.
tore mcl off the bone on both ends a week ago and it hurt like hell for about 2 minutes! Rugby!! in brace and having op on Monday! movement is very limited. any good rehab sites? vids?
I completely tore my mcl in a varsity football game, luckily I'm a sophomore. You don't need surgery for your mcl it will heal on itself with rehab and if you tore your acl you wouldn't be walking at all
i dont know what i tore but i was biking and hit a jump landed all pressure on one of my knee and the pain was high i tried to walk and it just gave out i cant walk on it its like behind the knee in the back and feels like someones pushin it to the side and i fall attempting to walk anyone know whats wrong?
i just about fully recoverd from acl surgeryy, during basketball game last night the same knee bent inward toward the other knee i felt a rip think i half way tore my MCL there was no swelling and veryy lil pain any other ideas of what it could have been??
I managed to tear my MCL last night at my last football game ever. (Senior) Anyway, I probably managed to rip up my ACL along with it... Haha. Another average day for me though...
i had an mcl surgery recently because of how badly it was torn. it was torn from the thigh bone and i cant put weight on it for 3 or 4 more weeks im on week 3.
but yeah sir , sorry about this :( These aren't fun at all. I remember there was a time when I could stand on my right leg and bend my left knee in. It was gross, but it was great at parties.
mcl's are underrated I did my first in Jan. 07 which was a serious 2. I just tweaked it again (1 I guess) I when through rehab for 4 months for the first one and the pain hasn't stopped. I still ski, play ice hockey and jog with it, it just stays in it's brace
Oooww, this is difficult to watch, I got my plastercast taken off yesterday after an MCL injury like this.
When playing rugby, somebody landed on the side of my knee and it bend like 45* inwards.
I've done some pretty stupid things in my time, broken my arm in 3 places, cut a gouge in my head with sheet metal and, last year, put a screwdriver through my hand.
The MCL injury though is by far the most painful!
i play soccer and still dont know wat i tore but its probably watever ligament is on teh inside of the knee wenever i try to get back on the field i land on my footwrong and it bends inwards...the worst feeling ever instant shock
I tore my ACL, my lateral meniscus and a patch of cartilage on the medial side of my left knee during basketball one day...I wish I could go back and know to not play that day :-(
i tore my mcl in a motorcycle accident and after 2 weeks of RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) tore it again at a carnival and again running a PE mile. and again playing badmitton with a brace on. i agree with you i wouldnt wish this on my worst enemy.

if you rotated you could have torn cartilidge, and i dont think much swelling occurs with cartilidge tears.

@airmaxzz12 tearing it doesnt hurt much but u need surgery to fix it

How is your knee now? Does it take time for it to heal and will it heal by itself?

how dose a ligement rupture

I agree!! Sometimes you can be fooled and "feel" gapping if the knee isn't fully extended.

they used to surgically repair mcls but they usually just let it heal on its own now...unless of course its torn beyond self healing.
i had to wait about a month to have my acl surgery because they were letting the mcl heal
