@sausage4mash Elephant garlic is very mild, so you can use about twice as much as you would normal garlic. It's much easier to peel because the cloves are bigger. Having planted both types, I think I prefer the elephant garlic.
@markdon16 It's one thing I've got to try. All I can really suggest at the moment is growing on the window sill as it likes the heat. I will try it hopefully next year, and will make a video on it.
@TomasLancastre It's just our normal grass. I think it has rye in it, but I'm not sure. It's lovely and soft to walk on, but gets in places you don't want it to grow. And grows very fast in the Summer.
Great to see you again! I love your videos & hope you make more of them. Now that the kids are back to school I hope you have more time to make them. I love all the digging parts. That does not bore me at all. Something relaxing about digging in the soil. I noticed you seem to have alot of stones in your soil. You do not toss them out?
And which do you like best eating, regular or elephant garlic?
You are correct about the little ones growing, and putting them in a container or tire is a very good idea. My Grandfather planted them years ago and then could not get them out of the garden for years. They just keep seeding themselves and spread very well. Have not been able to find them over here, could you tell me the name of the company you bought them, please. ?
@woodturningjohn I got them mail order from Thompson and Morgan. They're one of the the biggest mail order seed catalogues in the UK. I doubt if you could pick elephant garlic up from a garden centre. Look online, I'm sure you'll find one near you.
Lovely to see you again Claire and thanks for the tips on the elephant garlic. Is there a difference in the result if i plant it 1 inch below the soil level unlike the 2 suggested?
@ukgardener1 It needs to be further down because it's larger, and will be less affected by frost in winter, and rotting. Unlike normal Garlic that grows half above the soil, elephant garlic grows below the soil.
I'm getting through my Garlic too quick , how strong is the Elephant garlic do you use it in the same proportions as normal Garlic in cooking

Nice video! Do you know whats the grass growing behind you? Cause I would love to put that in my garden as well!

@TomasLancastre If it's what's behind the green container, then it's Runner Beans, which are on Colin's plot, the guy next to me.

@kokonutbaby1 It's good to have some stones in the soil, helps with drainage. I have gotten rid of a load of stones though.
I think I prefer the elephant garlic best, it's not as strong and is easier to peel because it's larger.
