  • always like this group's version.is that the original white(not promo) label? if it is you got a rarity there(i got the marvelettes playboy lp with this type of label as well)great song

  • I love this song so much <3

  • Is this the original version?

  • @sabrinafan1011 The original version is by Smokey Robinson - but he released the first version in 1960 - it is slightly different - check it out x

  • where you find that record and the player? It;'s awesome.

  • This song takes me to a special place and it was recorded decades before I was born! God bless Smokey Robinson!!!

  • Watching Smokey at the tribute to Michael Jackson yesterday reminded me how truly amazing this man is! Timeless music!

  • Great song,from 49 years ago back in 1960!

  • this is one of the best songs ever

  • Classic, timeless music.

For David fans, I have nothing against the guy but once the guy start making his own song like Smokey, then I'll respect him. Oh and if he is still remembered thirty years down the road, like the Motown Greats.

  • I see your point, and adore (worship? lol) this Motown classic but there are many exquisite artists out there who only performed/recoreded covers of others' songs. Archuleta has already done some rather amazing songwriting and will no doubt pen classics before it's all said and done. He is 18 years old. (Sorry to hear you have written off the likes of Ella Fitzgerald, Eva Cassidy and many more American Masters who never wrote songs.)

  • A good point well made. Should we also write off Elvis, and what about all the great opera singers?

  • To tinebeebop

I see your point but well, I guess we all have preferences. I respect total artistry from an artist. I'm hard to please. : )

However, I also do respect a quality voice. Oh, and I'm holding on to what you said. Let's see if Mr. Archuletta has it within him to actually pen classics as you say. ^-^

  • I'm hard to please, too. We shall see. :)

  • do you think if DAVID sang this song like it was on here do yuo think that the judges would like his performance????

    DAVID is waaaaaaaaaaayyyy bettah ^_^

  • This prove that David Archuleta is an AMAZING SINGER he did really great with his own version. There is no wonder that this kid realy gifted and an old soul.

  • John Lennon's momma called into the BBC and had this song requested in celebration of her boy's 21st birthday!! RIP good man LONG LIVE THE BEATLES!!!

  • awsome

  • The MIRACLES' version is better. if you check "THE MIRACLES" in Wikipedia, you'll see that literally HUNDREDS of other artists have covered their songs...but , almost NEVER are these "cover versions" better. Tell you what Let's see if David Archuleta's OWN songs are still around 50 years from now ,like the MIRACLES' songs are...and THEN we'll see who's better !!!

  • Thanks for the memories!!

  • I like how you did this video. Great song!

  • classic

  • I was referring to his performance. I do not make personal attacks, because I do not personally know any of these people on YouTube. I can only comment on their performances.

  • David sounds like a very bad 3rd rate Vegas lounge act.

  • Hey fuckbush16 is there any need for the profanity you low educated, no respect fool

  • dont shit your panties, its just youtube!

  • This a good song

  • How is this song creepy? Give me a break!

  • I find this song creepy... LOL... I guess i'm just used to hearing David Archuleta sing this... Its like he owns the song....

  • yeah you're since i've heard david archie's version i love songs that never liked me or liked a little bit.....for example angels,imagine,....and songs i had ever heard 4 example sweet caroline or with u by criss brown ...thanks archie becuz of u i ve discovered a new musical world....

  • Yeah...I didn't like this version at ALL.

    Archuleta sings it betta

  • I LOVE the original, and LOVE David Archleta's performance of it... and I hope Smokey has seen DA's performance. I think he would probably just LOVE it.

  • You can never touch the original.

  • For all you David Archuleta fans: I've heard his version and while good, he will never reach the level of Smokey Robinson.

  • sorry guys this guy rocks but david's voice is just so pure you can't help but like it. i think that this song is great originally, but yes david did change it up to attract the watchers on american idol like Me!!!

  • David is way better...

  • i really like david, but... HE DON'T GOT NOTHING ON SMOKEY ROBINSON AND THE MIRACLES!!! no one can make a classic sound better..

  • I agree, but the part about David... No talented singer forgets the words to "We Can Work It Out" by The Beatles, sheesh!

  • You obviously don't appreciate music if you don't respect/enjoy The Beatles. No they were indeed NOT on LSD during the writings of all of their songs, but some yes. The Beatles were the biggest band in the world, who are you to talk about them?

  • hippopotamininmyshoe ...Shows you what talented guys they were writing stuff and out of it... I think you really need to actually know the history of music before you add idiotic remarks for the world to see. moron

  • Well to be fair, David was battling strep throat that week, on top of learning a song he wasn't familiar with while doing 3 hours of school each day (since he was still a minor at the time) in addition to all of the requisite press he was doing for Top 12 week. Being a talented singer doesn't mean that you aren't human. And yes, I love The Miracles' version of this song. I just don't like people piling on Archie here anymore than I like David's fans doing the same to Smokey. :)

  • I live David Archuleta's version more...it's faster

  • Who is David Archuleta?

  • A contestant on American Idol

  • Lorixoxo,

    Thanks for the answer.

  • wow david rocks 101% more

  • search for DAVID ARCHULETA - SHOP AROUND. gOOD VERSION...

  • Lol.. I hate when ppl say dis or dat version is nicer just bcoz its very classic or its the original singer...

    pretender

  • davids version was hot!

  • i used to pretend i was a back-up singer when this song played :)

  • i like both.

  • david's version was soooooooooooooooo much better. this is dated, his was current and delightful

  • This version is timeless. When "Davids" "current" version has long since been forgotten (along with David himself) because the little girls who like it have moved onto the next "current fad", this version, the ORIGINAL version, will still be listened to.

  • im not a young girl, im 28 and not enchanted with the way he looks ,he is childlike to me but im in love with his voice as much as im in love with josh grobin's voice. so there goes your theory. i will be listening to his version for a long time and i like that better. it's just matter of taste no need to argue

  • How in the heck can you think anyone's version is better then this? "Davids version" does nothing for me.

  • 100% agree with you. David's version was pretty fake. People who like his version are the people who know nothing about music older than 2006.

  • 100% agree with you. David's version was pretty fake. People who like his version are the people who know nothing about music older than 2006.

  • i like both versions

FYI i like david's version and i deff knw alot bout music wayyy past 2006

  • first of all he's talented to have rendered this version into his own to make it sound absolutely brilliant and extremely enjoyable to watch for someone at such a tender age...what good would it be if he copied the arangement to the T...making a claim like that is pretty ignorant if you ask me

  • good point, he completely re-did the song to catch the ears of teenagers of our times

  • THANK GAWD!!! I agree completly agree. Kudo's to you!

  • Davids version is so much better.

  • Love david's version. He made it very hip :D

  • davids is wayyyyyy better!

  • just the different tastes of music. i usually like cover versions better like uptown girl, woman in love,... David one's the same, like it sooo much

  • wow this the original version? all i can say is is... WOW DAVID! YOUR SUPERB YOU DID A GREAT GREAT JOB! I LIKE YOU VERSION SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • agreed!

  • no one matches any artists of motown. It's just not possible. Just like nobody can sing or even attempt to sing Stop! in the name of love. JUST NOT POSSIBLE!!!

  • yeah i really like davids version better

  • I don't really like oldies.

So yea I think Davids is way better.

    this isn't bad though

  • david's is much better

  • This version was recorded at 3am in a tiny little studio in Detroit. That David guy's version was recorded in a huge set in LA with excellent arrangements. This version is better just because it's the original. This version also sold over one million copies!

  • AGREED!!!

  • David's version sounds much more better than this...

  • David's version is really refreshing youtful and all about happiness! go DAVID!

  • david archuletas versions way batter...and hes way hotter!!!

  • OMG! I like david archuleta's version like SOOOO much better, its more up beat, and young, and its a lot better...i think, lol

  • I like David's version way better<3

  • David's version is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much better! I love him! But everyone keeps saying that he is gay!
