@MrMissedout No dude: it was a check before so he cannot castle, simple as that, check the rules!!
"The king may not be in check, nor may the king pass through squares that are under attack by enemy pieces, nor move to a square where it is in check."
This match reminds me of the way an real estate investor "ties up a property" without closing the deal, so it can get into another investment" without a full commitment, but not allowing the opposing seller sell to anyone else. Just like three key black pieces got tied up because of clever positioning or negotiation of white, allowing white to pursue the king, yet rendering black queen useless.
Hmmm, this move is only good as long as the opponent does VERY specific things, for instance this entire stratigey would be trounced by a simple Pd5 after white moves his bishop
I kind of suck at chess (around 1300) and I have trouble with guides like this because I don't see where I'm supposed to go if they don't make these exact moves.
@ZeldainPark ODDS OF THE GAME UNFOLDING THE SAME WAY AGAIN ARE SMALL... UNLESS PLAYING A COMPUTER THAT MUST MAKE THE SAME MOVES AS IT DID BEFORE...ANOTHER PERSON WOULDNT FALL FOR THAT TWICE IF THEY ARE ANY GOOD AT ALL....GOTTA KNOW WHEN TO CUT YOUR LOSSES.....
my personal impression... 9:13 wouldn't it be better for D5 to be played? this allows a light bishop to join the play, strengthening white's defense... In that variation it took me quite a few more (4, although much trickier) moves to mate.
(ok, never mind. Playing 2 engines against eachother it was mate in 18 moves total, 2 less than with this var.)
Otherwise, what are better defenses for black and/or do you guys know of any good place to study these openings other than books?

HOW DID U CASTLE WITH WHITES IF THERE WAS A CHECK BEFORE
FAKE
DerFegeR 1 week ago
at 08:19 why didn't white play Ba3 and Qe1#?
chelseafcman2 1 week ago
@chelseafcman2 Because if white did that black would block the check with his knight and end up trading queens and this whole plan is ruined.
Andrew12045 1 week ago
@chelseafcman2 that will not be mated,,if Ba3,,then black response d6 blocking the bishop check and black survives..

Because he didn't move his king, he blocked the check with another piece.

@Starcom23 you cannot evade a check using castling,
ie:
u cannot castle if your king is in check on the the move u want 2 castle
previous checks dont matter

A friend of mine is exactly this type of player and he's around 1900. But learning chess is really a waste of time if you don't have the talent.

This wasn't very helpful. You should talk less about trivial stuff and just focus on the game, in which you didn't really explain anything.

But.. What if black plays 8....Bxc3? Than the knight covers the e-file protecting the e-file...
Shotornot 1 year ago
@Shotornot
If 8....Bxc3 then 9.bxc3 opening lines for your bishop, but 9. ... d5! has the reputation of equalizing (9. ... Nxc3? 10.Qe1+ wins the knight)
That's the reason why you could try 9.d5 with white, continuing the attack
