what ide like to know is that why when we bring an autsitic child out in the community why is that parents just asume that or children ar bad i dont know how many times i heard if that was my child i would spank my daughter as reasone to act out she is disabled but shy do normal kids do it. give us a break. people should just get use to it because locking up the disabled is over with. our kids have the right to go out in the world just like any other child.
thanks for mentioning livevideo, because i agree. youtube consists of too many bullies. my son is 3 1/2 and people have ragged on him...calling him retarded and even saying he should die. i deleted all my videos and now upload them to myspace.
People who are not autistic tend to concentrate on playing social games, so that most of their life is spent that way. People who are autistic tend to concentrate on some fascination that may develop into something equal to Einstein or Bill Gates. Moving human consciousness and therefore human evolution forward. Social people tend to be confused when it comes to things that have nothing to do with people-that is essentially the whole of reality is so big. Krishnamurti called it "the immensity."
Come on, man!!! You are Autistic yourself!!! You can't hold eye-contact, just like me! I have Asperger's and I have trouble with eye-contact, too. And the way you go on and on, struggling to be concise... :-))) come on, man! You're ONE OF US!!!!! Roza, the beautiful stunner on the Autistic spectrum :-)
My dad who's about 50 reports the same thing, that anybody who would bully a disabled person, whether physically or mentally disabled, was severely frowned upon amongst peers and administration.
In my day, going to elementary and junior high in the 90's and up to 2004, people who appear retarded would get bullied. I am autistic, and I got a large share of this. And it's not even a prejudice about intellect, but rather a prejudice against an appearance.
Pardon my ignorance (and with absolutely no disrespect intended) - do people with Aspergers Syndrome often get mistaken as having an obsessive/compulsive disorder
that's not ignorance, that's a very good informed question. Yes, in fact, obsessive compulsive goes hand in hand with Asperger's (without it, Einstein would not be able to work as hard and concentrate for as long periods of time as he did)!
I am on the autistic spectrum and I unfortunately learned of
this at age 26, however I was placed in school with the severely "retarded" children between kindergarten and second grade. The stunningly brilliant professionals of the day called me slow, and said that I had some sort of internalized psychoneurotic obsessive compulsive problem.
I would say the reason why being called retarded has changed over the past few decades is that it has become an insult. If you spend any time around kids or young adults these days this becomes clear within a few minutes. Anything that isn't cool or they don't like is "retarded." Words can start out meaning one thing, and change due to usage.
Remember that you are asking her to relate her emotions in your terms not her. We have a habit of grouping things that are so infinitely complicated in simple groups cause we're lazy. Somewhere halfway is where you would have to meet. Simple thought - if you could figure out how to communicate well with silentmiaow, it would be a lexicon/language unique to her. "her own language" (i think) is her mind connected to the world without a filter inbetween. Midunno.
I loved the analogy on how your touch sensation and pain sensation worked in different parts of your body. I have been meaning to ask you for some time but never got round to it. Great video as usual on this subject.
yea inflection in the software readily accessible would be cool.and it would be awsome if kids still looked after the weaker or different students.. now they are ruthless and awful to them. times change I guess. Take Care.
Great video Dave. I found the amplification of the touch sensation in spots to be very interesting. I'd like to hear more about how you describe some of the sensations as colors - especially the one you call camouflage. Can you help me understand how you make those associations? Thanks!
How I came to the camouflage association??? I'm a Marine! LOL... Think of a cammy uniform, with the different colored patches as different types of sensation, and that's pretty much the best way to describe it.
Geesh is there a full moon? I just watched a "Porn" video from Preacherman, and now you're describing your sensations. ;-) Ok ... sorry to interupt. Carry On. :-)
It was incomprehensible to you, because she is far above your intelligence level.

I am another one on the spectrum. Autism is difficult, however the resulting dissociative disorders from
mismanagement of these cases in our early years
results in a life time of hard work to relearn and get
in touch with our inner beings. If it were not for people
(open) like your self along the way in life, it would be
much more difficult.

Some of us focus on details, and some of thus focus on the big picture.
And I hate the word disability, it's the new form of apartheid.

I have Aspergers Syndrome the same thing that Mozart had as did Einstein. This is a higher functioning form of Autism.
