The only flaw on his argument on being fat to being gay is metabolisms, if you have a fast metabolism then you can eat more calories and still burn them off a lot easier than someone with a slow one, so the intake of calorie could be more for someone who remains skinny, and the person who eat's less calories but has a slower metabolism would still gain more weight.

There is such a thing as metabolism. Nobody has to be fat, but some people have a harder time maintaining their weight than others. It is true that some people can eat all they want and never gain a pound, and others gain weight much more easily. Still no excuse for being grossly overweight. So what if you have to work harder at it, thats life. I watch my weight, and I have to aware of what I eat to maintain a healthy weight.

@TlMEtoLAUGH I'm gay. And a behavioral scientist. No one knows better than me that homosexual attraction is set at birth. But so's appetite, to a much larger extent than you think. People with innately high appetite and calorie retention have to work way harder to stay skinny (too bad 'willpower' is also something inborn). And MANY gay people have tried to be straight, due to society's expectations. There's few stories more similar, except there's far less acceptance for those born to be fat.

I have a roommate who's a bigger girl- she runs for hours, daily. I watch what she eats, and it horrifies me how careful it is. And she still cannot shed pounds.

Being gay is like being fat, or more exactly, (over)eating. It's about preferences, whether you like people of the same or opposite sex, whether you like cake or apples. The thing is, we choose what our tastes and preferences are, unlike what we are often taught to think. As TIMEtoLAUGH said, they're states of mind. But states of mind are formed and affected by thoughts. IMO any person should be able to control their own thoughts.

The only flaw on his argument on being fat to being gay is metabolisms, if you have a fast metabolism then you can eat more calories and still burn them off a lot easier than someone with a slow one, so the intake of calorie could be more for someone who remains skinny, and the person who eat's less calories but has a slower metabolism would still gain more weight.

You're saying that the choice lies within whether or not you choose to act upon your feelings, but being gay is not characterized by whether or not you act upon those feelings, but by the people you fall in love with. Imagine you were gay but grew up 50 years ago and never allowed yourself to act or dwell on your gay thoughts... you'd be about as gay as a fat person who grew up starving in the desert is fat.
Being gay is still, ultimately, a choice. So is being fat. Ricky Gervais always uses transparently false logic to justify his bigotry, but then again, he wouldn't be as famous without it.
