this stuff is generally refered to as ICF, and should be considered more as a concrete house than a styrofoam one. In very cold OR warm climates, these are VERY efficient usually
So XTheFadedLineX, just wondering how are the energy savings on that house so far?? Is it paying off now, and/or will it pay off for ya in the long run?? I am trying to get some true environmental ideas for when i build my first house, and not some fake Al Gore bull. If ya know what i mean? ;-)
GrintSistah, it said in the video that the styrofoam was filled with concrete, although it was in text, so I suppose that may have been how you missed it.
It can be recycled according to some simple google searching i just did. For some reason YouTube will not let me post the website link. Also in the video, they are actually using recycled Styrofoam, the guy in the video said it would be thrown away otherwise. If it will save energy in the long run, and some trees, then it's a good thing.
I look foward to seeing the finished product. They must put something on it (in it?) to make it stronger. I find it hard to beleive they didnt think about weather or being able to punch through.
This is not a styrofoam house, it is a concrete house!

Well, i'm sure its VERY well insulated with low heating/cooling costs....

How is it not cheaper?
Styrofoam is just as valuable as wood?
I don't think so.
I wouldn't choose styrofoam over wood unless it was way cheaper.

Terrible idea. Hey lets use something NON recyclable to replace a renewable material. Oh, and lets mass produce it. Idiots

that's nuts...
for one, styrofoam is THAT expensive?! Seriously?
Secondly, I want to see how effective it is in holding up to nasty weather, in particular to wind and rain.
Finally, AWESOME! :D
