  • Nice, I only wish you showed how to make original drums instead of a loop..I'm having trouble learning redrum!

  • Thank you! I'm making the switch from Fl Studio to Reason 4 , this helped a lot !

  • I'm new to Reason 4 and was able to follow along with you video. You are very thorough, thanks.

  • what if you don't have a keyboard like that? I tried clicking on the device down below to try to play my computer keyboard and nothing happened and I don't see a play button anywhere

  • Very, very Helpful. I only wish I started with this tutorial instead of jumping ahead to more complicated stuff. You rock man....I've seen both 1 and 2, did you happen to make any other tutorials...

  • LOL fl is so much better then this

  • @dylbyl1234 yeah bro your right, fruity loops is soooo much better than this......WTF is a matter with you, fruity loops may be better at making cheesy elevator music for grade schoolers, Reason is straight up professional and produces high quality work. Name one major producer who uses fruity loops....I can name about 10 that use reason

  • @CurteousMAximus it really doesnt matter what sequencer you use, the important thing is musical talent as well as audio enginering talent. if i remember right, Reason and Fruity Loops have both the same effect types, that differ only in layout and look, but not in performance. although i would agree with you in the end, since reason has the ReFills that really sound professional, such as the samples into the NN-XT or the Thor Polysonic

  • @CurteousMAximus deadmau5, porter robinson, spor/feed me... there are three of the greatest electronic music producers in the world that use FL. i dont use FL but most of these DAWs are all professional if you have the talent to back it up

  • Does anyone know how to work REDRUM in reason? I do not know how to make it start and stop at specific times. Like if I want REDRUM to kick in after 8 bars and then stop after 4 bars, how would one go about programming it to those starts and stops?

    Anyone?

    Please!

  • isnt there other ways to make music than playing the pattern on keyboard etc.

Isnt there like some already made up patterns that u can use and mix for your self?

(Sorry for my bad english :S)

  • there is nothing like reason 4bim glad i purchased it

  • I don't like videos that have this comments waiting for approval. That means that the company only let the good comments through so there is no way of knowing if it is really good. Looks cool but i don't see the point when i already have a DAW and many many great synth.

  • I'm really new to all this stuff and some of the terms are kind of confusing.

Any body have a good tutorial for begginers?

  • a great tutorial u helped me a great deal thanks .

  • Copy/Paste on clips doesn't work for me!?!?

  • Does this program have a pull out keyboard like FL does??

  • very informative

  • COOOL!!!!Very very helpful..wish i had seen this bout 2 weeks ago....ayou made a lot of things alot of clearer

  • Its amazing, thanks for the video.

  • i have never use reason i'm just about to get it in cuple days but this video's help me somuch mate thank you for your help, keep it up,

  • Wow!! you are good at helping newbies understand

  • great video thanks for the help!!!

  • LOGIC MY FRIEND!!!

  • sounds like sonic pinball for genesis good times

  • Help me out!! which one should i go for?? logic pro 9 or reason 4???

  • both.... there both completely different things

  • Get Reason 4 and Ableton Live 8

  • Logic

  • With Logic Pro 9 you can do basically the same as in Reason, plus you can record live instruments and vocals.

  • @DodgyBrewer you can record live tracks with reason you just need a proper external device

  • Logic and REason shouldn't be compared. Reason is a live fx synth rack which logic can't imitate.

but that being said, you can make music solely using logic. i still would use reason to get some great sounds i can't get with logic.

  • 3:22 ICE!!! I want to sample that

  • Good Introduction, Good program, Good sound!

  • Thanks for this tutorial. I've been stuck on a few of those bits for a while. Not any more :)

  • greatly appreciated

  • I totally want that shirt.

  • Lol I want that shirt as well! It's Reason & Cubase Allday! I'm done with Fruity Loops.

  • why is fl bad. i have cubase and reason - and just got fl studio 9, with a TON full of vst's and i think its so simple to use, which makes it amazing - you can spend all day adding, vst sounds etc, where as reason i couldnt and cubase i cant fault as it can do pretty much what fl seems too, but i like fl studio to be honest - what you diddnt like! :D

  • Fl studio is TOO simple. at first, its a good thing, but youll outgrow FL studio very quickly. i mean not as quick as garage band (out-grew it in about a week) but in a couple months time, youll outgrow it unless you have a seriously creative mind. like ronald jenkees!

  • fl is the shit i use it for about 4 years i never got board of it im always learning something new in it :)

  • me too, FL is nice, but is past for me xD

  • Cool men, thanks.....

  • What's better, Reason or Cubase?

  • Neither. Ableton Live 7 rapes them both.

  • dpends try both demos see what u prefer.reason is mostly the one ppl use mostly

  • To be honest, FLStudio is my favourite, Reason doesnt have particuarly good sequencing, but you can easily hook them together with ReWire.

  • I don't really like reason's layout, I like cubase better and Abelton is good for live but tbh its all opinion at the end of the day.

  • yeah, nice vid!

  • 3:20 Satan LOL

  • Hey thanks man, was very helpful.

  • A thoroughly helpful tutorial. You, sir, have basic teaching down to an art. I applaud you. Thanks.

  • Great video. Reason 4 is amazing. Check out my video on Reason 4. Very simple method to route signals, multiply signals and parellel compress.

  • well said

  • thanks dude, was a good intro to reason, just getting to grips with it now... do i need pro tools to master and finish the song???

  • sounds like a mighty boosh tune

  • Great video. I watched hours of other videos to learn what is condensed in a very simple way in 15 minutes here.

  • impressive. very helpful.

  • NICE TUTORIAL!! VERY HELPFUL!

  • can't you use this program without a keyboard?

  • you can, although u can pick up mini midi usb keyboards at the minute for buttons, highly reccomended... although you can draw in notes without a keyboard, slightly harder but essential in the end for perfect note patterns

  • yeah

with this software i will create better and hotter remixes :-DDDDDDDDDDdd

  • Where can I get Reason? Can I get it for my Mac?

  • thanks!

  • love the vid very helpful

  • For anyone who doubts Reason 4, Reason 4 can be used for any sort of music and anything you can think of is possible in it.

It is just that techno beats and baselines are the easiest types of sounds to make.

You can direct a whole symphony, but it may take some time and mastery.

  • is it necessary to use a midi device with this software? for example, could i use my computers keybaord instead of an actual midi piano keybaord

  • but if i dont the MIDI Keyboard Can i Use My keyboar computer and the mouse too ??????

  • Whenever I see demos of reason the tracks being created are always really trancey, electro or hip hop. I want to use reason to produce more funky stuff, possibly some live sounding music. Is reason the software for me????????

  • It has samplers with some decent instrument samples included. You can also buy instrument sample packages from Prop-heads or others, but I would say it's generally geared more towards electronic music.

Also, you can't record vocals in Reason. You would have to have a separate recording device and then play the recorded track through one of it's samplers. It has no mic capabilities.

  • can u record vocals in reason too or just midi?

  • sry reason is a music no vocals program

  • thanks! helped me a little...

  • i wouldn't say no vocals . there are many ways u can use vocals in reason the way to go is record them in recycle then use the dr rex loop player or samplers to sequence them into reason .

  • Thanks for the video, the manual neglects to explain how to properly set up send fx and how to arrange the song.

  • Thanx for waste your time with us, dude.

Your tutorials really help me to understand the software details better.

Please, upload more. Waste your time with us!!!

  • reli good video!

n the best softwear to use to record ur vocals which iv used is adobe audtion 4

  • excellent, thanks a lot man it really helped!!!

  • Do we have a patch for a General MIDI and Power Kit. coz the reason 2.5 disk has no patch for that. timpani, french horn. etc. i think we have a refill i just cant get one

  • Just one question how can i import Audio files into Reason 4 without buying Re-Cycle???? Thanks sam

  • reason 4!!!but the sound is always a shit

  • are you tone deaf? reason always has some sweet sounds..Especially Subtracktor, you just gotta tweak em a little. and then again you should always tweak your sounds.

  • mayne i cant figure out how to get my usb hooked up with it...i bought a UFE 49 key after i installed reason and i cant figure out how to enable it

    somebody help me plz

    aim sn = kingjamesivbeats

    myspace = /kj4beats

  • man fuck reason as a standalon i use reason as a vst in fl studio its way better plus the head room is alot louder n u can 8use way more sounds too fl studio vst

  • Is this Reason he's showing the basic Reason, with no extra downloads or anything(Aside from the keyboard)? And do sounds to use actually come with Reason, or would I have to go download/buy new ones? Also, is it only strange techno, or does it have symphonic/orchestral/piano/ect, ect as well?

  • It has piano and I think it's basic

  • All version of Reason come with an Orchestra Sound Bank with tons of different sounds. You can also download your own.

  • Well how would you record guitar & voice?

  • you record it and import the audio of it through the sound bank

  • it's better to use another program to record voice and guitars. build your drums, basses, effects, etc, at reason, export to an audio file, open that audiofile in a new program such as cubase and the work your vocals and guitars on top of the reason created file.

  • this does not rilly help me...what about guitar? and voice?

  • uh. it is.

  • it seems so easy

  • I want to record singing and stuff and I get no clue of how to do by watching this :/ This is for making techno music but I gues it's good anyway.

  • You can't record audio into Reason but you can export a track to another program and then record.

  • daaaaaaaaaamn I need that controller, it makes everything so much easier

  • Whoa, smexy video. Digging Reason 4 as well. Thanks!

  • do you have to have a actuall synthesyther keryboard or can you use your computer keyboard?

  • You can use your computer keyboard by using "Bome's Mouse Keyboard". Just Google the quoted, download the software, and follow the instructions on how to get it set up.

  • oh you so fucken rock for that tip

  • how to instal it on reason 4.. plss

  • how to instal Bome's Mouse Keyboard on reason 4 pls??

  • Good video.Helps get a feel for the workflow of Reason 4.

  • porn music and everything else, I've sold hip hop beats made only in reason that pro and people love them.

    Tip

dr rex sound cheesy? add a scream 4 and set it at compressmaster gives it a more organic feel

  • I'm a Reason veteran and I need a vid that breaks down the Thor. I like making custom patches but the Thor is really intimidating(so many routings!!!)

    p.s. i want that controller

  • +1000

  • Corny song !

  • Reason is great for making Porn music. I used to play around with the Dr Rex loops for that, it sounds sooo sleazy, the guitar loops that come with reason are so cheesy! :D Tip, get a half good guitar and an emulator like amplitube and record your own samples. Sorry, I digress... Porn music it is. Reason 4 looks really good from what i've seen. Can't wait to put it to good use.

  • cool , is that korg controller
