i would personally go for the chile rose, mine is very chilled and the colour is stunning, there is a website called the spider shop sells starter kits and basically everything you need, and i would stock up on info a about the species you buy first just to be on the safe side

@WishingBabyX well their venomous yes, all spiders and scorpions are, but Tarantula venom is only lethal to humans in cases of severe Allergies to Animal Venoms, but if your allergic to Animal Venom, just about any venomous animal can be dangerous to you, Bees, Snakes, even a Platypus or Octopus

@killerbeel1 No. Very docile tarantula, recommended for beginners along with (Avic Avic, Avic Versicolor) As with all tarantulas though, when threatened CAN bite; and as someone mentioned before, if you're allergic to the venom then it's bad news. Their venom is similar to that of a Bee sting, so not really much to worry about - also, as a first line of defence this spider will kick hairs before it bites, these hairs WILL irritate your skin. Do your research extensively before buying one.

Smithi aka Mexican Red Knees are one of the most docile tarantula species on earth, its easier to find Rose Hair Ts in petstores and their usually meaner than Mexican Red Knees, plus even if it DID bite her, it wouldnt be lethal unless she has venom allergies, in that case your average single Bee Sting could do the same, a Tarantula bite would hurt due to their large fangs, but the physical wound would be the worst of it, the venom isnt dangerous

For some reason, I find that the smaller and skinnier the spider, the creepier a spider is... However when your holding a fat/hairy tarantula its not so scary, because you know it will protect you from other dangers in your home environment. Also, tarantulas are not poisonous to humans like Hobo's or Recluses are. Small, brown, slithering spiders are the creepiest!

@XShadOBabeX well if you would get bit, the physical stabbing with its fangs into your flesh would be the worst part of it, the venom isnt anywhere near lethal, and you can handle judt about any tarantula fine with no bites if you take the care to handle them right, if you handle a T right, they arent tense, its like their brains go into "explore mode" and they just crawl around like your not even alive

afaik Ts cant be "tamed", so that they become used to handling, they are no such animals like dogs, they get used to frequent disturbtion like vibrations, but not to handling or peting in the typical way so i wouldnt recommend that if u asked me @Jericho

if u want to pet something, get a typical pet like a dog or a rabbit, Ts aint made for much touching = ]

@WoyxProshots You really don't want to do that...because one, how is the spider supposed to eat, and two, even if it were safe to trim the fangs, the points would just grow back the next molt, and three, check out what the inside of a tarantula fang actually looks like...they are basically hollow with venom ducts and funky little ligament things inside...trimming a fang could do serious damage!

Old world species of tarantula posses more powerful venom like the king baboon, they are a vicious species and there venom has been known to make people hallucinate and severe cramps.
