  • great vid btw, wish i saw it b4 i bought mine. i hate 2 knock a guy on this kinda thing but shit, he didnt do his homework at all...

  • i had EVERY ONE of these problems with this guys gun. shit, 1 time my bolt locked up & i had no idea what was wrong. after i barely cleared the rifle i took it down and found an ENTIRE, LIVE round behind the trigger assembly. how it got there? i havent a fuckin clue. i just thank god i got half of wat i paid for it when i sold it. worst investment ever. by the way, his "customer support" is BS. save ur $ and go for a real hk clone for the same price from MKE. they r licensed by HK 2 make clones

  • @mastercfromhalo3 That sucks the Big D! Todd should be ashamed...

  • what's the price on one of does ??????

  • @Juan777fl Dem beez anywheres from $1k to $1.6k, 'pendin on how old and whut model!

  • bDV, you mention SW clones like they're inferior. I just bought a SW clone (made in yr 2000), it is beautiful, solid, and weighty due to molten-cast receiver. I don't know what's up but it shoots flawless and super accurate with no jamming ever. Sometimes the last round will not feed from ATI mags but with HK stick mags it operates perfectly all the way.

  • @longdongsilber Well, let's be completely honest here; the Todd bailey clones are inferior to all-out custom builds and real HK rifles in the sense that none of the problems mentioned in this video have ever been an issue with those rifles/carbines/smgs. My clone is at 3,000 rounds without any issues, but for example, the barrel was not pressed in perfectly straight and so the rear sight has to be drifted over to get it zeroed. Those problems simply don't exist with HKs and custom builds.

  • @bDV Your BW5 preview u said BC not same as SW, to me implies ur saying SW r lesser products compared to other off-the-shelf clone like yours, Im not comparing to real HKs or cutoms. Mine shoots perfectly smooth n accurate. Flawless? No- finish is a bit rough and mag fits little wobbly. I'm just telling u it's just as good n beautiul as ur BC. $1500 in German parts+labor mine could be like all-out-customs. I'm not trying to make assumptions about u respectfully. Thanx for the awesome reviews

  • @longdongsilber I never intended to imply that Bobcats are head &shoulders above other clones. In terms of parts quality, they simply cannot be, as they are all Todd Bailey and RCM components right out of the gate. The difference between Bobcat and the others is that Bobcat was not owned and run by Todd Bailey, but Andy Bonas. Andy was using SW and RCM parts just the same as the others, but it was not Todd who was assembling and welding the Bobcat rifles. Todd Bailey acknowledges this FWIW...

  • @boricuaDV It maybe possible that although the parts are same, quality of assembly and finish does make difference. No matter how good the parts are a slop-job will deteriarate it. Do you think my SW might be good because it's early model (yr 00) before TB got hungry and started getting sloppy and started running around changing names? Maybe the previous owner worked out all the problems?

  • @longdongsilber I think it's safe to say there are a lot of good, working MP5 clones out there from all brands. The latest Coharie guns are reportedly very good quality,so it might not be a matter of a date of production. The intent of this video was to educate people on things to look out for. Of course, you are correct in that build quality certainly matters. A lot of people run away scared b/c of things they've read on the internet, but they really don't know what the problem areas might be.

  • @boricuaDV Yea I educated myself about the clones by watching your videos before I bought my clone. Your videos gave me confidence about buying clones because it let me know exactly what can go wrong with them and what can be done to fix them from a knowlodgeable guy like you who actually has a damn clone. Every body else just talk shit online and think they're experts when they don't know anything and they don't even own a clone because they can't even afford one. thanx for the help...

  • @longdongsilber Are you located in California? If so and if you bought a California legal mp5 clone can you please tell me where i can find them.

    Thankyou sir.

  • @BountyUFC No, in Colorado. What is a CA-legal mp5?

  • Songs?

  • @crashtest2302 Sorry for the late reply. First song is from DJ Shadow-Entroducing (not sure of the song title). The Second song is Dan the Automator- Bombay the Hard way. The last was a DJ Shadow/ DJ Qbert collaboration, an album whose name escapes me, but dates back to somewhere between 96-98

  • Where are you getting an RCM bolt for $50? hkparts has the complete RCM bolt heads but they're $199. I've got an H&K extractor and extractor spring ("real" ones) but I'd like to replace just the bolt.

  • @jon780 When I said "square away the bolt for $50-60 I was referring to replacing the extractor and spring with real HK parts. The only reason to replace the bolt with a new RCM bolt would be if your bolt is out of spec or damaged. For what it's worth, according to Todd Bailey, owner of Special Weapons, Coharie, etc, it was RCM who supplied the bolts for his weapons in the first place. "Fixing" extraction problems with an in-spec bolt only costs $50-60, but as you've noted, a replacement is $200

  • Overall, I am VERY happy with all of my HK Clones from Todd Bailey and associated companies.

I agree with you, boricuaDV. Once you understand what you're getting into, you'll agree that the value is there. I own an original Special Weapons SW5, a Bobcat Weapons BW5, and a Cohaire

Great Video. I'm looking forward to my next clone, the Bellator Armament BA89. Although not a Todd Bailey company, they do use their parts and some of their tooling. I fired one today in full-auto and it rocks!

  • I own three HK Clones that came, in part, from Special Weapons

    1) No issues with the extractors. Did change the extractor spring. No issues with bolt heads. No issues with ejectors. No issues with semi-auto shelves. No issues with receivers. I did have issues with many non-HK magazines. ATI mags were 50/50. Asian mags suck. First 24 mags from Special Weapons were perfect. Next batch was problematic. Problems with thinner sheet metals and followers. Stick with German mags.

  • what about .22lr clones?

  • @hardman476 All o the .22LR MP5 Clones are built completely different from these centerfire clones. The .22s are a lot of fun to shoot, but when you look at how they are made, they are closer to the construction of an airsoft rifle than a traditional firearm.

  • Ghey. Just SBR a Draco pistol or get a Krinkov.

  • FAIL. That's akin to recommending a Daihatsu to someone who is looking to buy a Vette.

  • @boricuaDV

Why, those guns are hummers, compared to MP5 clones or originals are more a fine ROLEX. MP5 is one of my favz, but too much$ plus Problems... its a momentary tactical arm, were as those dracos are long term combat effective, mud dirt grit, etc.

  • @altops Are you implying that Dracos don't have problems? They most certainly do. It makes absolutely no sense to compare an AK to an MP5. They are completely different firearms with completely different characteristics.

  • @boricuaDV Compared to clone MP5?,no.The AK line of design is fool proof and with easily addressed problem non Im aware of which says alot for the design. And my comment did analogize the difference without degrading non-MP5 owners as did your comment. I own AR's, . But if I were to own an MP5 , it would the real deal squared away kit with no issues H&K, not a clone problem child. Not dissing your Arm its my favorite 9mmbut its out of reach eye candy for most.

  • @altops Sorry, but you first said that MP5 clonesd are too expensive, then you go on to say if you bought one it would be a real HK. You realize you are talking about a $3,000 price difference, right? You seemed to have missed the point of this video; that these items are things to look out for. Not all MP5 clones are problematic. That is a myth spread by those who never owned one. The Dracos are subject to problems as well. Overgassing, undergassing, proprietary front end parts, etc.

  • @boricuaDV

This was a comment thread on your 'Fail" comment not your video. I appreciate the video very much, I may build one someday. Dracos are pretty squared awy kits, no worries there.

  • @altops My FAIL comment was a reply to a lame, unsubstantiated comment. When someone chimes in "Ghey, just get a Draco" that type of comment really is a FAIL. Firearms don't have sexual preferences, and suggesting a completely different type of firearm because one is afraid of a lemon makes very little sense. Had he said, "Get an Uzi" it might have had more gumption, as at least he'd have been in the same ballpark with the firearm type.

  • The MP5 in all its variations are quite possibly the most effective CQB tools ever devised. Even in semi-auto, one can make fast, accurate double and triple taps with ease. When you compare the recoil characteristics of a Krinkov or even the Draco, the MP5 is a much faster weapon. The HK diopter sights are also far superior to the post and notch sights of the AK. The MP5 is capable of holding 2 inch 10-shot groups at 50 yards. The 9mm in an SBR has no real muzzle blast. Completely different...

  • @boricuaDV

its one of my favs. Loved to own one. $3k foe semo $15k and up for the FA's

And its a one time use weapon I mean one tactical event at a time, not a long term combat weapon, it won't last 1000 round in Iraq, or even degraded urban combat like Smolia. never see them in that role. They're an executive weapon.

  • @altops the HK delayed roller locking system is very reliable; the HK91 uses the same system and it is noted for its durability even in harsh conditions. You won't find the MP5 as a general weapon of war due to the limitations of the caliber. The 9mm is at best a 75 yard weapon. The 5.56mm is much more versatile and offers significant advantages in terms of terminal effects and range. For that reason even LE agencies have switched to the AR, but rifle calibers aren't the only ones worth owning.

  • @boricuaDV

    Lol.

  • great vid. love those old style HKs.....g3, hk33, hk53k, mp5. Do you know anything about the quality of the V-94s from Vector Arms?

  • @Nb1PatrioticAmerican I don't have any personal experience with the Vector offerings, but the areas to look out for would be the same. It is my understanding that they used Special Weapons parts and receivers; they just had a little bit better reputation as far as build quality is concerned. I don't think Vector makes 9mm guns anymore, and due to a fallout with Todd Bailey, they might not have the parts to honor a warranty repair. I'd assume that a Vector will also be a do-it-yourself gun.

  • @boricuaDV thanks

  • exellent vid!

  • Looks like these MP5 type guns are money pits. Thanks for the great video.

  • @ClawSpike It's all relative. I have $2k into my Bobcat SBR and it runs like a raped ape. You can't even touch a real HK SBR for that cash; more like $5k! At this point, the ammo it consumes is the biggest expenditure.

  • great vid, first maybe?
