  • Linda is awesome live! I'm sure it's even better actually being there in person. Sadly, I regret that I never had the chance to see her live in concert. I've only recently become a big fan, and I was too little in the '70s to see her in her prime. I've heard that she has retired. I hope she changes her mind and makes a comeback someday. Linda will soon turn 65 and has never married. I don't care if she is older and has gained weight, I would take the beautiful Linda in a heartbeat over Madonna.

  • @cowboy80fan She looks and sounds really good for a 60 year old lady here huh? I have always been a fan- even in the early 70's when I was just a kid listening to AM radio late at night. I did not know what she looked like back then... just knew that I loved her soft, but powerfull voice... was soothing to me. My first record I saved up doing chores and such.. was hers of course. It was just a 45 rpm record- plain jacket. It was not till 1976 that I saw her perform on TV. I was smitten

  • @Lindawatcher My first memory of Linda was hearing her on the radio around 1979-1980. I remember hearing "Ooh Baby Baby" and "Hurt So Bad" quite often. I didn't know her name or what she looked like, but I knew I loved her voice. The sweetest, softest, most beautiful voice I think I ever heard. I remember her duets with James Ingram and Aaron Neville in the '80s, and also the Nelson Riddle recordings, but I wasn't really into her music at that time. I have become a big fan more recently.

  • Thank you.

  • LINDA IS ONE OF THE BEST POP SINGERS OF ALL TIME~!!! SHE SINGS SO EASILY !!!! PURE AND CLEAN !!!!!

  • Beautiful song and performance. Thanks for posting. I really enjoyed it. (RIP Kate McGarrigle) BTW, Madonna is and will always be a talentless pig. Linda is a beautiful and incredibly talented singer. Madonna is a live and aging not so gracefully sex act. Don't even compare the two. Much better to be thought of as fool than to open ones mouth, or post ignorant comments, and remove all doubt.

  • the one and only time linda came to tour uk was in 1976 and it was great!,i only wish i had bought tickets for each and every date such was the lasting impression she left on me!.

  • Saw Linda twice, in Tucson during the 70s. She was great, and in her prime.

I wonder if she still deals with paralyzing stage fright before a show?

  • I saw Linda in 2007, here in Maryland, and she was incredible. I strongly urge all fans to see her. We were all shocked about how strong her voice still is..when she sang the end of "desperado", the audience lost it.

  • Madonna is a clown compared to Linda. Madonna is not ftt to shine Linda's shoes.

  • lets dont forget elton john told on madonna she lip snchs most of her songs linda never has never will thats real talent put them on stage together see who sings perfect linda

  • Real small audiences. Criminal. Madonna sold out Houston's baseball stadium. An indian casino with the buffett line outside the door. Pathetic.

  • Linda Ronstadt tons more talent than Madonna. In the movie Gypsy the strippers tell Gypsy that to make it big all you need is no talent. Madonna was a case in point that was pretty common in the 1980's. No talent but lots of bump and grind.

  • Ronstadt's no dummy, she uses pro-tools. That's what is in her hand. Every singer uses it to key correct with a crappy orchestra ditching the charts or a fattened chorus. Her band in '74 in Central Park was so loud I felt sorry for her. $2 it was okay. Madonna is hitting the deck to 63,000 people at Dodger Stadium, of course she needs it! Don't expect to see Madonna at some small indian casino east of L.A. like where I saw LR last. I felt sorry for her.

  • It's absurd to see Madonna's name used anywhere adjacent to Ronstadt's. There really is no valid comparison. Madonna is a pop culture phenomenon. Ronstadt is one of the great singers of our time.

  • Well said!

Linda's moment of fame was in the 1970's with the other singer/songwriters. Everything she touched turned to gold and she made a LOT of gold her self, but just like everything ells, that was a very long time ago...Beleive me, Madonna is on her last legs and will soon be forgotten. Linda's albums are ALL being remastered and re-issued, Madonna's probobly will not be. Madona is an image, linda is a voice.

  • @iowa61 You're absolutely right about that. Linda in her prime was far more beautiful and sexier than Madonna ever was or could hope to be, not to mention classier. Talent-wise, there is no comparison to be made. This woman blows everyone else away - anyone since her and definitely the wannabe girl singers of today. Who else has covered as many genres of music as Linda has and mastered them as well? Nobody! That's why I love and respect her so much.

  • @cowboy80fan I agree!.. no-one even comes close except possibly Pat Benitar .. but even then it was Linda hands down= = even by Pat's own admission!

  • I love to hear her talk too... so soft and sweet. talks really soft and and polite. Her parents were good people and respected in the community where she was raised

  • You mention Linda in her prime= = She was a singing machine and my god was she hot! SEXY SEXY!

  • @Lindawatcher I guess I never associated Linda from the mid-late '80s with Linda from the '70s. Strangely enough, I didn't even know it was the same person. I think it was because she changed styles so dramatically with the "What's New" record. She moved away from rock and did standards and Mexican music. I actually had rarely seen, if ever, any pictures or videos of Linda when she was younger until the Internet. I can see why you were smitten. WOW! She really was a cute, sexy doll!

  • @cowboy80fan LOL YEP!.. those big brown eyes, sexy shy smile... and her general "Yumminess" had me hooked! grin

  • @iowa61 I can't believe they have Madonna doing the halftime show for the Super Bowl this year. I have no interest in it. They should have Linda performing, or at least singing the national anthem. At least Linda would do it right, unlike all of the so-called female singers today.

  • Don't feel sorry for Linda. She is doing exactly what she wants. Filling huge stadiums is not important to her any more. Singing many different music styles is.

  • Linda Rules STILL!!!

  • I agree. Dont feel sorry for Linda. Linda was the first female singer to sell out stadiums world wide, but now she prefers doing different styles to smaller audiences. I think her voice still sounds incredible.

  • It's a pro-tools device to put her choruses in key. Pretty unusual to be hand held. Madonna has a guy offstage running one on her older higher pitch songs.

  • "to put her choruses in key."???

What does this mean??, and I would consider from an audio perspectice Ronstadt and Madonna have totally DIFFERENT vocal necessities? Dont you think?

  • such a rich beautiful voice!

Thanks for posting. Gotta love her.

    in her hand??

    (timing device? or handkerchief?)

  • What is she holding in her right hand? Why?

  • What a voice and what a song....what a combination

  • Linda is great as ever

  • She's brilliant, simply brilliant. thank you.

  • She's extraordinary in concert.

  • Her voice is sooo sweet and calm.. it´s like an angel..

thx a lot for the post : )

  • Her voice is the fountain of youth, others get worn like leather, naturally, but her voice is a gift from God.

  • Linda is the best!

  • Linda's voice is amazing so clear and sweet and full of emotion. Most women when they get older, their voices drop, they get slightly deeper, but Linda can still sing songs like this in a very relaxed and easy manor.

  • Only three comments?!?!?!?!? This is absolutely incredible. She is in top form.

  • I was at this performance at the Beacon..Linda was just so incredible. It brought back so many memories..thanks Aileen

  • Wonderful song .. pianist could be a little more sensitive. Linda sensational as always .. queen of You Tube
