that laptop on the right side must have like 5400 rpm hdd or even older one, cuz my 7200rpm stock hdd loads way way faster than that. something is rlly wrong with that right laptop.
@weilwen In today's gaming (HD) the order of importance goes: Processor, GPU, Harddrive. The reason harddrive is important is because the longer it takes to transfer the graphics through the GPU the more stuttery they will be.
And the processor has to process the game data so that is also a bottleneck.
@BaByUzii "GPU" not CPU..... Listen, an SSD will provide faster loading times with games (as the sales man shows) than a HDD. but once you are 'In-Game' it's all about the GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)
The SSD has no moving parts compared to a HDD searching for data on spindles (seek time). Also Windows uses a page file system that would slow down a HDD compared to a SSD with no moving parts. GET THE SSD if you have the means.
That's what I liked to hear. I don't play that many 3d intensive games so i opted for the 128gb ssd instead of the 260m. I'm patting myself on the back right now.
yeh they kinda scammed that video, the left one has a 120gb 5400rpm and i guess they loaded it with junk, my m15x with a 7400 rpm 500gb runs a hella faster but not as fast as the solidstate.
Nope the video isn't scammed. The SSD system had the X25M-160G which replaced the stock WD scorpio black 7200rpm drive. The HDD system had the drive that shipped with the system, a 7200RPM WD scorpio black. When I saw the demo, the Intel guy showed me what was in both systems.
This was at the Intel booth - nice notebooks. They look even better in person. Insane how fast those Intel SSD's are! The video says its the 160GB Intel X-25M. Bottom line - if you get new corei7 platform, you should get the Intel SSD as well. My desktop doesn't get that performance score in Win7 geesh....

yeah.. but graphics are rated at 6.5 on both of 'em..? So, Graphics performance is the same.
Only loading will be quicker with SSD hard drive.. omg, Nvidia stick to your graphics please, you don't know shit 'bout hard drives..

it's possible to install it yourself right? where to buy SSD hard drives?
aznfishie 1 year ago
what? I thought graphics had to do with the GPU and the SSD only makes it load faster.

This guy is just a sales man. Environment/Model textures has nothing to do with the SSD/HDD... It comes down to the GPU

@ColonelBinface yea but the cpu has to access what it looks like threw the hardrive its stored there i believe.

@meme54100 the main purpose of small laptops is its small size =P
a CD drive would occupy a lot of space, so you can buy external CD drives
vitorfray 1 year ago
@vitorfray i hate external drives, i personally think all computers should have a cd drive built in

Cool Demo. Imagine spending all that money on a highend notebook only to have it run slow with a HDD.

are u stupid?
do u know how much difference is between a 5400 and a 7200 HDD? about a 30% of performance... u cant compare a 5400 with a SSD! NEVER
