  • sounds like Allen holdsworth

  • love cynic, nice to see how they've grown as musicians great stuff!

  • No, no me gusta :c

  • @Nuriapatthu Then don't listen to it :P

  • @TDGRoach Well I had to listen first, to give my opinion, not you think? :yaoming:

  • @Nuriapatthu ES LO MEJOR HUEÓN

  • Best technical metal of all time ... Its a shame they are are not very productive ... Only 2 albums? What the hell is this all about?!!?

  • Comment removed

  • @docoftheworld

Just search for the names Paul Masvidal, Sean Reinert and Sean Malone on Wikipedia. They have been in alot of projects, Cynic is not the only one. If they'd have released everything under the same name they probably would have been alot more popular. But who the hell am I to judge their carreer... hehe :).

Their other projects weren't as technical tho'.

You can always check out Exivious, a similar band.

  • @Brutalyeah Thanks for this great info. it never occurred to me to do this!!!! Exivious AFAIK has only one album.

Cynic should produce more stuff in the same spirit of Cynic.

  • @docoftheworld

    I completely agree.

This year they'll release ''The Portal Tapes''.

If I remember correctly they were about 10 tracks recorded somewhere in 1995.

Also they are going to release a full length album this summer or later.

  • @docoftheworld LOL Just like Necrophagist.

  • Ah, I saw them first about ummm 20 years ago? I listened to their Focus album at least a trillion times I guess. If you like melodic, atmospheric metal, check out Mystic on my channel. Especially the song Grace!

  • GAY, listen to deathcore not this auto tuned shit. Also, if you fags dare try to classify black(gay) metal or any type of death(tryhard poser) metal (unless its cannibal corpse) as deathcore ill just spit on your faggy little grave.

  • @slimininin

Oh, you're so cool, can I touch your biceps?

FUCK OFF PHUNK, WHO THE FUCK CARES WHAT OTHERS LISTEN TO.

Fucking show off ''look how brutal I am I listen to metal''. Hey fucker none of us all gives a fuck this is Cynic, we're here for ourselves.

Hey, recommend me a Deathcore band because I never listened to it. Why? Because I AM open to other music. Its your own loss if you dont. Call me a fag, I dont care, I know I'm not one, I'm the fucking way I am. Quit fuckin'around

  • @slimininin

Oh and BTW, Sadus > the whole deathcore genre.

  • How to define Cynic:

Matt Bellamy and John Petrucci had a child

  • @GatewayOfficial that's a pretty gay definition

  • Great band. I actually like the variant on Re-Traced EP ... I hope they will take that direction. I don't like aggressive shits....

  • i think this song is about people that still believe in evolution have fallen asleep

  • @Sh1fters Hahahahaha, you still deny evolution.

  • @lyon1535 you make it sound like its a new discovery

  • @Sh1fters How?

  • @lyon1535 you made it sound like they made new discoveries proving the theory, its still a theory you know, and i was joking about the song

  • @Sh1fters I don't think you understand what a theory denotes in a scientific sense: it is not a hypothesis, which is the form of theory to which you refer, but something that accurately explains and predicts behaviours in the natural world with evidence for it. For example, the law of gravitation is a scientific theory because it predicts and explains behaviours in the universe and has evidence for it.

There is a massive amount of evidence for evolution, too.

  • @lyon1535 one of those guys huh, there is no mass evidence, even in the fossil record there is none

  • @Sh1fters Well, since you're probably a creationist, there probably isn't much point arguing with you.

  • @Sh1fters By the way, there's actually thousands of fossils showing gradual anatomical changes in humans, and we share 98% of our genes with chimpanzees, a common ancestor of ours. The reason for the difference in these genes is a chromosome fusion that occured, giving humans 23 pairs of chromosomes instead of 24 like their fellow apes.

Or, if you want it the religious way, god did it, and was very lazy doing so, so he just messed around with dna strains.

  • @lyon1535

I think you dont get it.

Religious people relate to their own sense of time. They think ''how the fuck can this all happen, out of pure coincidences?'' But they don't understand that in a universe of infinity the chance that things happen is also infinitely large. Coincidences dont exist. It's extremely superficial but whatever, I dont really care, if it makes them happy...

  • @Brutalyeah I don't get what "it" is.

  • @lyon1535

Anything that differs a 100% believer from you. (assuming you aren't)

For example the way the universe was created, or why we got those 23 pairs.

  • @Brutalyeah Sorry, when I said religious I was referring to people that prefer creationist design of animals to evolution, which I should have clarified, since it has nothing to do with belief regarding the creation of the universe.

  • @lyon1535 I don't subscribe to a religion, the human fossils changing are still human fossils, they are just adapting, not changing into another species, there are no monkey fossils changing into humans. Them having 98% of our genome doesn't prove evolution, a Honda civic and a Honda accord are almost identical, because they were designed by the same company, they are two different models by the same author, one didn't magically transform into the other

  • @Sh1fters There are obvious anatomical changes that are displayed (gradually) in the fossil record.

We didn't evolve from monkeys, so of course there isn't going to be fossil record evidence of that. We evolved from a common ancestor.

I don't think you understand my point with the similar dna. The point was that our chromosomes had fused so we had 23 pairs instead of 24 like other apes. Also, we have 50% of the same DNA as bananas, which doesn't really make sense with your analogy.

  • @Sh1fters You have contradicted yourself- adaptation over long periods of times inevitably leads to a dramatically different animal.

Of course there aren't fossils showing monkey to human evolution - we didn't evolve from monkeys, we evolved from apes. Looking at fossils from older human/ ape species shows gradual anatomical changes which point to this evolution.

My point wasn't about the 98% similarity but was about the chromosomes - other apes have 24, but we have 23 from fusion

  • @lyon1535 I don't get your point with chromosomes, also, there are no ape fossils changing into humans, what common ancestor are you talking about, smaller humans? Monkeys , apes, etc, its the same animal, its just a variation that has adapted to its environment, now you can call this microevolution, but its the same animal, no evidence for macroevolution, which would be a different species evolving from the other, that is just what it is man, i would love to be proven otherwise

  • @Sh1fters Uh, monkeys aren't the same animals as apes.

That's exactly what "macro-evolution" is; micro-evolution over long periods of time. Small changes over a long period of time WILL result in larger changes, and that will eventually result in a different species.

Also, you use the argument from ignorance - we don't know some part of the theory, so the theory must be false. There ARE candidates for common ancestors, like Ardipithecus ramidus.

  • @Sh1fters

You should also keep in mind that there are a great simmilarites between embryo's of different species, and a lot of animals have the same rudimentary organs and skeleton structure.

  • @TheR00ler So what, its logical that they should be similar, because they do not need to be different. This doesn't support macroevolution at all.

  • @Sh1fters mutation and natural selection happen, fact. believe what you want, the fact is that you can trace back the evolution of animals easily, there aren't any fossils of a monkey evolving into a human because they didn't evolve into humans, the species that did evolve into us isn't around anymore because it became us. and sorry about bursting your bubble but this song is in a broad sense actually about evolving as a person through meditation and dreams, or masdivals experience of doing so.

  • best song, best album. fuck yeah

  • So, who came here through P60? Gonna see them play live tonight!

  • Comment removed

  • Saw these guys on monday with Chimp Spanner. Never heard them before but went with a friend. Now becoming a favourite band!

  • @immortalperser

    I agree on all. :)

Hmm but I still cant enjoy Opeth xD.

  • this is fucking amazing.........

  • Comment removed

  • Yeh man, Cannibal Corpse is just ridiculous crap. How can you scream an entire song about blood and death. I am a fan of bands like this, Opeth etc...that have metal and melody at the same time.

  • These top comments are full of shit.

1- Thinking you are cool at the age of 30 + because you drink beer, you're the real poser here.

2 - Making a living of music imply (to me) making enough money to live AND express yourself and evolve musically, which pop stars can't do.

  • You know what I hate about metal nowdays? It's all about sounding DURR BR00TAL AND HEAAVEY HERP

srsly niggas, any genre of metal with a core at the end is just soo fucking lame.

I like my metal like my apples, WITHOUT THE CORE.

And bands like suicide silence who are labeled as "extreme metal" just makes me sick.

Strapping young lad IS and will ALWAYS be the only true extreme metal band

/watch?v=M-DMYMjEZZ4 But I aint here to tell you what you should like and not, this is just my opinions :D

  • @LidlFisken You know I hate about metal nowadays? people who bitch about genres with "core" in their name. The "core" comes from hardcore punk influenced vocals and it has nothing to do with the musical style. yes, a lot of metal nowadays has become about being brutal (Emmure being a perfect example of this) and those bands are truely terrible. BUT, there are bands who's genres have "core" in them that are quite spectacular and extremely talented. You just have to know where to look.

  • @MishAbasi The vast majority (like 99.9%) of "-core" bands are beyond terrible and can't play past the first fret of their guitars half of the time, so that's why a lot of us are so "bitchy" about that type of music. I also think breakdowns are annoying as shit, so that doesn't help matters. While some musicians in "-core" bands can play very well, they'll never write anything nearly as good as old-school DM because they water down their music with monotonous chugging sections and gang vocals.

  • linkin park are a good metal band they have rap in AS WELL as metal you fucking idiots

  • first metal band Mudvayne sick shit lol now im a fan of chelsea grin and such

  • Putos diosess, maestros del death metal, mil respetos

  • To you two guys discussing here, all I can say is... Gojira.

  • Comment removed

  • check out spiral architect!

  • this song is complete trash

  • CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG??

Honestly. Metal's metal. What the fuck do we have to argue about? At least no-one who's watching spends their days humming along to the next Bieber ft. Rihanna and Timbaland fucking hit.

    Jesus Christ.

    Good song btw. xD

  • @VicariousStinkfistin

Bieber Rihanna and Timbaland at least did one thing we all dream of: Making a living of music. And I'd do anything for that, whether it is making a gay pop album or a sick undergound technical death metal album. Those 3 people I named basicly have BEATEN LIFE. So dont rant on them, how fucking stupid it may sound.

  • @Brutalyeah If i had to sell out in order to make music i wouldn't do it. If i'm doing something i don't like to make money i might as well keep the job i have. But that's me.

  • @mashui99

Listen, it's not just the money, man, I actually don't care about money. The only thing I need is a guitar and some food and a roof on my head. If I can get the oppurtunity to make thousands or millions of people happy by making music that they easily can get into, I'd do that.

I'd rather do that than making a great technical album with amazing intelligent songwriting just to show off how smart I am. And ofc not just to show off, you also please some fans, but alot less.

  • @mashui99

But lets not overstate this or something, I will never be a succesfull famous musician anyway ;). I dont really care tho, but if I would get the chance to make an album at a major record company I'm sure I'll not make a pure metal album. I've written alot of music on my acoustic guitar that I just love, it's about the melodies and rythms, the sound is only a detail.

  • @Brutalyeah Well i didn't say it had to be metal, just as long as you like it. Hopefully i will be a successfully musician someday. If it works the way i want, it will have songs that are as heavy as Death but with a traditional metal singer and then songs that are the polar opposite with a really soft acoustic folk sound. I play guitar but i wish to learn piano to also help add to the music. it's gonna have a wide range of music on a album.

  • @Brutalyeah i disagree on what you said " one thing we all dream of: Making a living of music. And I'd do anything for that, whether it is making a gay pop album or a sick undergound technical death metal album" I have been writing music now for like 6 years and is getting close to writing what id consider good metal, but i have in the past got fed up tryin to find good musicians to play and thought about goin down a "pop" route, easy music, easy money, but unfortuantly it was to depressing

  • @shuttsworth

Easy money? By making music? :P

I dunno man, it's very very hard to make a living out of music, you need alot of luck and get in touch with the right people. You can't have expectations, because you'll always be dissapointed.

If I'd win a shitload of money right now I'd go for it tho :).

  • @Brutalyeah

Why would you want to make a living with something you don't like? (I'm assuming you don't like the music of Bieber, Rihanna and Timbaland)

  • @OpethToolMetallica

I dont know man, I dont know a single song of those artists. But I think it's very simple: Write a melody or a whole song.

If you use an acoustic guitar or piano, then alot of people will like it because most people are more familar with those sounds.

If you use an electric guitar with distortion and play it faster with alot of fills or strange tempo changes it will sound like metal, and most people will have a hard time liking it.

  • @OpethToolMetallica

I just like writing melodies and then fit them together into a song and make it all fluent with alot of progression.

But I can also make progression by just adding another instrument guitar>+bass>+drums (the easy way), and most people will understand it easily.

I just love to write music, I respect all music.

  • @Brutalyeah

I don't get why you would respect ALL music, in whatever possible meaning (all genres, or artists, or eras, etc.) because there's always music that is so inferior it's not worth criticizing.

  • @OpethToolMetallica

Hmm... difficult to answer. I dont really know what to say, ofc there's stuff that doesn't interest me, or that I just rant on at first impression (like Kerry Kings guitar solo's xD, or rappers rapping about bitches cars and money). But it doesn't really bother me, they are still making alot of people happy.

  • @VicariousStinkfistin

And no, metal is not metal.

Bands like Cannibal Corpse and Linkin Park are fucking with peoples stereotypical thoughts (can't blame them for that tho, but still). Metal is not about make up, blood or darkness. For me metal is about drinking beer and driving 200 km an hour on the highway... I grew up with Pantera, Megadeth, Alice in Chains, no fucking poser-ass shit metal. The only legit poser band is Manowar :P.

  • @Brutalyeah so true!

  • @Brutalyeah

I hate it when people bash on other genres... Not cool dude. Even though i don't like Cannibal Corpse or Linkin Park, I think it's stupid to bash on them.

  • @SuperMefisto6666

If you carefully read what I said you'll see I didnt bash anything. In fact, I'm totally against bashing and I have pretty much respect for those 2 bands. What I said is:

Bands like Cannibal Corpse or Linkin park are messing with OTHER peoples stereotypical thoughts.

    Why?

When a random person looks at and listens to Cannibal Corpse they'll get deterred and disturbed by the way they look and the way it sounds. They will generalize the whole metal genre and that's a shame.

  • @SuperMefisto6666

It's not like I blame anyone, I know alot of people think it's awesome the way Cannibal Corpse looks and the way they are so fucking extreme :P. But THEY are the reason why alot of people have such a rejection for metal. Not because of Metallica, Megadeth, Cynic or Alice in Chains or anyone.

  • @Brutalyeah hey! cannibal corpse are awsome!

  • @Brutalyeah Umm... Well that makes sense. I guess that's what metal is for some people, but not all! Metal is WAAYYY different for me, especially since I don't drink or drive lmao. But you're 100% right about one thing: I don't think anyone can ever say that they know metal unless they've lived a while with some of the serious and true metal bands: For me, those were the early Megadeth, Dark Tranquillity, Chimaira... But I listen to most metal now, even the posers sometimes xD \m/

  • @K6Mace

Haha yeha me too, but it's not like the poser metal bands are bad. I'm just saying they make it hard for not-metalheads to get into the music. It's kind of disturbing for them ;P.

But I do think alot of poser metal bands are alot worse than the more down to earth bands like Megadeth, Death or Pantera :).

  • @Brutalyeah I know what you mean... the first "metal" band that I ever listened to was probably Linkin Park which you were talking about, just because I new of nothing better. But then I looked deeper till the heaviness and music complexity grew on me, and I started getting into the serious stuff. I couldn't call myself a metalhead until I learned to appreciate the classics. (still need to check out Death tbh lol).. Problem is, many people stick to the superficial, and don't care to go deeper :(

  • @K6Mace

Yeah, indeed, its such a pity people dont go any deeper. Music is a way of life, it does shit to my emotions all day, even when I'm not listening to it! :)

Funny, my first metal band was Linkin Park too, when I was 10 or somethin :P, I thought it was pretty awesome back then.

Then I went to Nirvana > Metallica > Pantera > Anthrax > Megadeth > Death > Dream Theater... Now I'm here. And alot of other bands ofc, but less :P

  • @K6Mace you didnt check out Death and you talk about metal? OMFG MAN! jk, you really oughta check it out asap tho, since it's one of the best bands of all time imo :) and Im gonna be captain obvious here and say that almost half of the Cynic's line-up was Death's line-up at one point :P you gotta love Chuck Schuldiner's work....you just GOTTA! :)

  • @Qminoo I KNOW RIGHT? I ordered 200$ worth of music (around 25 albums) last night, but none of them are Death :/ ... Anyway I'll be downloading their discography and the Black Sabbath discography next month and grinding their entire collection of music so I wouldn't have to be ashamed anymore xD Probably buy a couple albums afterwards... There's just so much new music out, it's hard to be motivated to look back xD

  • @K6Mace It is true, Im grinding Black Sabbath bit by bit myself for the same reason xD as far as Death goes, I dont wanna give you any suggestions since you can start anywhere you like with it, it's all fucking kick-ass :)

yeah but I still like to go 'back in time' and listen to good old stuff and mourn that I wasnt born eariler ^^

  • @Qminoo Haha I know what you mean... I might not be that much into old school metal yet, but I do know quite a bit about the old school melodic death metal... for me, it's all about the early 1990s when the melodeath scene came alive, especially with Dark Tranquillity's The Gallery *-* That'll always be my favourite music, so I woulda been living the dream if I was a teenager in Europe at that time!!! The Gallery came out 2 years after i was born xD

  • @Brutalyeah So basically you're a redneck

  • @mightywarriorx

Haha, neh I live in the Netherlands.

    ''So you're a junkie?!?!?!''

    *Sigh*.

    :P

  • @Brutalyeah Manowar are awful tho... like everything i hate about 'Metal' in one band

  • @MrTomZombie

Haha, no they are funny :P

  • @Brutalyeah What's wrong with Cannibal Corpse?! They aren't about creating stereotypes at all. Death metal existed before CC and they admit it. I don't see any problem with their degree of fame because they earned it with hard work... and that's nothing like what we see in the pop scene today. In fact they are still underrated!

  • @immortalperser

I didn't say there's anything wrong with Canibal Corpse.

What I mean with stereotypical thoughts is that alot of people get shocked by CC and then think ''yeah, metal really is retarded''. But only a few bands in metal are like that and every band has a diffrent attitude and style. You can't blame anyone for that, but its just such a shame so many people avoid metal, the most fucking energetic music out there!

  • @Brutalyeah Metal music is was destined to be ridiculed since the moment it was invented. But that's because people can be so close-minded that they won't accept anything different from what they are used to listening. As for CC, their purpose is not to make brutal sounding music. They simply want to present horror show and translate it into music. It would be difficult to do so with melodic sounds. I admit that they could use more technical elements, esp the drums are lacking variety.

  • @Brutalyeah However, I respect your choice of music. Not every one has the same taste. For example, many metalheads like fleshgod apocalypse but I really dislike them-yet I have to admit they have talents. Btw, I have been a long time CC fan, and I'm fairly new to Cynic but I have to admit that overall Cynic is more talented than Cannibal Corpse.

  • @immortalperser

Hmm Im glad hearing from a CC fan that they're just trying to give a horror show, kinda increased my respect for them :).

You can't blame people for being close minded tho, that's not what you said, but still. It took myself alot of time to get into metal. The well known order: Nirvana > Metallica > Iron Maiden > Pantera > Megadeth > Death > Dream Theater and alot of bands inbetween. But on that ''road'' I discovered enough bands for a whole lifetime of listening :P.

  • @Brutalyeah Interesting! Your journey through metal music is similar to mine. Metallica got me into the metallic sound; Megadeth and Pantera got me INTERESTED in thrash metal, Sepultura and Morbid angel got me into death metal, Opeth got me into prog/death, and finally, the legendary Death got me into tech/death. There were quite a few bands and sub-genres in between as well. After years of listening to metal, I still don't like the "core" sub-genres.

  • @immortalperser

That's strange... How did you ever go from Megadeth and Pantera to Sepultura, I just cant listen to that band at all, I think its not really melodic and the rythms arent even that fun. I went straight from there to Death :P. Also went over Opeth but never really liked it. Took me alot of listens to like Death tho, it's quite overwhelming in the beginning. Literally took me months to really like it :P.

I should listen to Opeth tho, can you recommend album?

  • @Brutalyeah Opeth is a tough listen... it took me a while to get used to their unique style. It's a band that you either like or dislike (kind of like Meshuggah, which I don't like, but a diff. style of course) Deliverance is a great album IMO. In general, the growls are harsh in Opeth, and many people don't find the vocals that pleasant. Their new album "Heritage" is great too; it's a progressive rock style (not typical of Opeth) with clean vocals throughout the album. You may like it ;)

  • @immortalperser Hmm, yay opeth :3

  • @immortalperser

Well actually I do think there's something wrong with Cannibal Corpse. I dont like anything of it, not a single riff, lyric or piece of songwriting. I tried to listen to it for weeks, every day a couple of songs, but I just hate it. In my opinion it's boring. The brutality does nothing to me, I dont feel shit listening to it. They have no feel for progression, they are just giving a show, they are actors. But I'm glad so many people enjoy it, I dont understand it, but its ok.

  • @Brutalyeah for me metal is lying down on my bed and chilling.. especially tech death metal..

  • @Brutalyeah didn't realise AIC were metal.. thought they were part of the whole grunge movement? may just be ignorance on my part though

  • @cheesydarkside

Well they are indeed part of the grunge movement but out of the 4 biggest (Soundgarden, Nirvana and Pearl Jam, and AIC) they were the most ''metal''. However they made alot of emotional songs ofcourse, I just love it. Layne Staley is probably the most talented singer I've ever heard, he's my favourite vocalist of all time.

But why would you ignore music that's not metal? Kind of not what I'd expect form a Cynic fan :). Grunge is great music!

  • @cheesydarkside

To be honest I even managed to like a couple of rap artists, it's a whole diffrent view on music but you might understand what I mean once you listen to a song like Infinite from Eminem.

And no, I do not enjoy listening to songs about money, cars and bitches. xD

  • @Brutalyeah yeah they did have alot of metal influences and you could hear it alot in the guitar work on the albums i guess, i love layne and AIC but they were always in Nirvanas shadow unfortunately, as for eminem i think he's overrated and quite frankly boring. Hey but i do love more underground rappers like Krs-one, daddy kane big l ect.. Haha you thought i was going to bash you for liking rap :) Metal fans can be quite elitist but don't let it get to you, i got used to it now.

  • @cheesydarkside

Haha awesome :D. Metal fans can be quite elitist indeed... I always try to talk some sense into them xD. But I can't blame them really... metal is just so awesome haha.

  • @cheesydarkside

    No youre right, Cheesy.

  • @Brutalyeah

and all in all they all are for morons

i dont know how you found such a magical band like Cynic or even Alice and Chains, and enjoy them with your attitude towards music. furthermore, i dont know how you could connect those bands to those things.

i wish people could understand that its fans of music acting like this and not truly enjoying and thriving on QUALITY music for what it is, is whats destroying any artistic value music has these days.

  • @mudtacopwns

Sigh, you act like you have a monopoly on defining ''quality music''.

The quality of music is based on the way people interpret the melodies and specific sounds, it has nothing to do with the amount of tempo changes or how fast the drummer is. Do you feel superior just because you are able to enjoy Cynic? There's nothing difficult about listening to Cynic, it's about repeatedly listening to a combination of sounds. It requires patcience and interest, nothing more.

  • @mudtacopwns

Oh and by the way, we as listeners are not destroying the artistic value of music mate.

It's so ironic that you actually care about the fact that Cynic is not as popular as Eminem or Justin Bieber, and yet you seem to enjoy the feeling of being superior and special being one of the few listening to Cynic.

We don't care what you listen to brother, this is Cynic, listen for yourself, not for others. I hope I helped you with your pathetic (but understandable) attitude.

  • @Brutalyeah

    What about the music?

You want beer + fast cars...join NASCAR.

  • @Brutalyeah Manowar >>>>>>>>>>> Pantera, Megadeth, and Alice In Chains. All day.

  • @EaLordOfTheDepths1

In terms of epicness... Yes. Lol :p.

But I always enjoyed Pantera, Megadeth and AiC alot more, I feel like Manowar has alot of album fillers or songs that sound the same :). But it's a fucking awesome band, like I said.

  • @EaLordOfTheDepths1

My dream is to see then live some time in Bulgaria. Most epic crowd ever.

  • @Brutalyeah I don't really see the difference regarding poser attitude between bloody makeup or driving too fast.

  • @Faxe555

I dont really have a problem with poser attitudes. I'm just saying that alot of people do have a problem with that, therefore they overlook the entire Metal genre (just because of those couple of extreme poser bands).

  • @Brutalyeah Well, I don't have a problem with a poser attitude in particular. It's more like that I don't care about bands that show off about how brutal and "metal" their music is. I listen to music for deeper intentions than that - Cynic are a good example and a brilliant band!

  • @Faxe555

    Same here :).

But that doesn't mean that I can't enjoy bands that show off how brutal and ''metal'' their music is. Because I only listen to the music.

  • @Brutalyeah Yeah, for some bands it's mandatory to do that! And that's what people don't understand, most bands are not serious about being the heaviest motherfuckers in the world.

  • vag metal

  • this is a tasteful solo at the end. great

  • funking amazing

  • Playing Dublin?!?! YEEES

  • Nice, reminds me of BTBAM and Porcupine Tree

  • @LetsGetHighOnMorris i think cynic is more "catchy" than BTBAM, but i like both alot.

  • @cowboyfrumhell666 lol elist tr00 fag...

    they are melodic death metal

  • Hmm, I actually do remember 1 band, guys if you like this check out ''Dark Hall'', its a small project with Steve DiGiorgio from Death, 4 amazing jazz songs!

  • Guys, are there more bands like this? I recently discovered them and it amazes me holy fucking shit. Its like Individual Thought Patterns on steroids.... D:

  • @Brutalyeah Opeth is about all I can think of right now, but they're not that similar.

  • @Brutalyeah Actually, I also just remembered there's a band called Exvious that has members from this band that has a similar sound, but instrumental. Worth checking out.

  • @Malikarcanum

Cool, thanks alot, I dunno about Opeth, tried to listen to them before and I ended up listening alot of boring repetitive songs, music should be repetetive but sometimes it's just not fun anymore. Take AC/DC or Metallica... they are great songwriters and their ''recipe'' for a good song works great, but sometimes they just go on for too long, or make album fillers. Bands like Megadeth do that alot better imo, they just stop when they're done, dont play half the song over again.

  • @Brutalyeah You should take a listen at Opeth again. Their songs may be repetitive to you, but their albums definitely aren't lol!

  • @JoNnYShizzle

Hmm I'm convinced that one day I'll like it, I'm a bit more practised listener now than couple of months ago and I checked out a song and actually liked it a bit. Still, I'd rather listen to Dream Theater, Cynic or Death... Soon.

  • @Brutalyeah repetitive?? Dude Opeth is one of the most diverse bands out there. Each and every of albums are unique

  • @AnthemOfTheDevils

    Repetitive does not equal diversity.

  • @AnthemOfTheDevils very true. Opeth is one of my fave bands. but theyre not as diverse as The Devin Townsend Project.

  • @cowboyfrumhell666 Hey look! I can say a statement and it's automatically true because I said it! The world's gonna end in 2012! See what I did there? Yes, they do have a lot of scene fans but it's more about the music than the image. I don't know how they are "lame" when they are becoming one of the biggest death metal bands ever.

  • @Ryu12543 dude shut up no gives a fuck what you have to say here

  • @jakerslake K? You apparently do cause you replied to me. I'm just trying to disprove ignorant idiots.

  • @Ryu12543 Black Dahlia Murder is really deathcore, they have melodeath influence yes but it has a lot of deathcore in it. I don't hear it all in Necrophagist though.

  • @mashui99 The Black Dahlia Murder are not deathcore. There. I said it. Idk why I have to explain this on a Cynic video. You have never even listened to them if you think they are deathcore. Never used a breakdown, they sound a lot like At the Gates (the PIONEERS of melodic death metal), their lyrics aren't garbage, Trevor Strnad suggests death metal for his fans all the time, Ryan Knight changed their sound when he joined and he was from a melodeath band. The list goes on.

  • @mashui99 Black Dahlia are Melodic Death metal dude. They have no hint of Deathcore in their music.

  • @Cannibalcorpse55 If you can't hear it i don't know what to tell you, but i can really hear the hardcore influence in there. I'm not saying they're bad cause they aren't.

  • @mashui99 Their more Melodic Death metal than anything else. Even with that slight "Hardcore" influence, barley makes them "Really Deathcore".

  • @Cannibalcorpse55 Maybe i'm mistaking some other influence for hardcore, but to me anyway it's in there. Anyway despite all that they're still good and so is Cynic.

  • @cowboyfrumhell666 Like I said, you're an idiot. You don't know anything about the bands if you say they are deathcore. Just because a band such as The Faceless use a couple breakdowns doesn't mean they are deathcore. Necrophagist revolutionized technical death metal. And there's absolutely nothing hardcore in any way about The Black Dahlia Murder. I made this for morons like you: /watch?v=333oZnsXvd4&feature=channel_video_

  • @cowboyfrumhell666 You're an idiot. Just fyi.

  • 43 people are faggots who think asking alexandria is good

  • 43 people slept through evolution.

  • Im not a big fan of this honestly, but its extremely creative and i have lots of respect for it. Im glad SOMEONE is trying to do something new

  • I don't know why but I can't get into this album much. This song is great and all, but for me it doesn't hold up to Focus. I hate to be the snob purist, but this labum doesn't give me the same charm. Do I need extra listens? Am I the only one who feels this way? I still respect Cynic by the way, they are a band which only deserve praise for their key role in metal's evolution.

  • @THEMANOUTOFTHECAVE Give it time. It'll grow on you.

  • @redneckdipper1337 Oh don't worry it did. It's FUCKIN AWESOME!

  • Wow this is like a gay version of abandon all ships

  • @slimininin abandon all ships are so gay they cant have a gay version

  • Holy tits, I just stumbled across this band. Amazing! I've been an Opeth fan for years now and I just remembered about Gordian Knot and decided to check this out... Omg. <3

  • @DEADMANSJOURNAL If you like this you should also listen to Between The Buried and Me, i recomment the album Colors. (all their albums are good though)

  • @DEADMANSJOURNAL listen to their older stuff too. you'll get blown away.

  • @DEADMANSJOURNAL Also check out Death (Symbolic), Atheist and Pestilence's "Spheres" ( much in the vein of Focus, some people say it's a ripoff but I still think it's pretty awesome).

  • Death is still probably the most ultimate Death Metal band..

People need to understand that original/real death metal has been more so about the melody than nearly any other type of metal. Proper death metal is actually quite beautiful and technical music.

  • @4WithPeach uhhhh death metal is not more about melody then any other type of metal lol thats just naive to say

  • @4WithPeach

Lol, "proper" music does not exist. That is like saying there is a proper language or a proper hair color.

  • beautiful song :)

  • Paul Masvidal is a genius

  • @GGxBeast lol fag that doesn't change the fact that death metal sucks major ass as a genre. I have actually listened to lots of brutal death metal like Trivium andMetallica and Megadeth before I jump to this conclusion. The only good death metal bands are Design the Skyline, Dead by April and Slipknot. Trust me, my tastes are superior to yours.

  • @xkhuongdox Okay I thought you were serious till' you mentioned Design the Skyline.
