@glenngould99 They are using hardbat not regular paddles. Li Zhenshi is still a very good player if he uses regular paddles with foam rubber. He trains high level juniors at Topspin in Santa Clara , California. If you think that he is now under 2000 level , you are mistaken. The juniors he trains are all around 2200 to 2300. He has no problem playing with them.
@muntecy Thanks for the info. Do you know if he is still married to Chang Li (former best womens player in the world)? btw - I know he is using a hardbat. What is sad is that he is playing in such a setting after being a star on the world stage. Also, I never thought he was below 2000. Someone like him like couldnt get below 2000 if you chopped all his limbs off. Would he still be 2500ish?
@glenngould99 Yes he is still married to her. They are with the Table Tennis Champions Group with the current US National Coach Stefan Feth. I am around 2200 and he still teaches me a lot of things. I don't know if he is still around 2500. He doesn not play matches anymore. I can tell you however that we have a 2300 player here, who has one of the best forehand and he showed him how to properly loop. i think this tournament is an exception, as it was a $100,000 prize.
@michaelmcguire93 I remember some three decades ago he played an amazing exhibition match with a 15yr old Teng Yi in the UK. I just hope he's playing because he loves it and not because he needs to.
@hkjkdsifu Li ZhenShi is doing very well. I saw him last week, and he was driving a Mercedes SUV. They make pretty good money coaching. They have a lot of students and they are booked every day.
i wish my shorts fit me :)
