  • Nice job! Thats a nice looking boat!!! Did you design it yourself or did you get a set of plans from someone.

  • Sheets can come in lengths upto 6,7 and 8 mtrs depending on were u buy from I get mine from onesteel in tassie

  • About 4 to 8 psi

  • Just let start by saying your a master fabricater much better than me.What's the longest aluminum sheet's you can get do they come in 16 feet or biger I've seen 10 feet but I'm going to build my on and would like it to be around 16 feet long and my be 5 foot wide but with out a weld seam it the side's or bottom

  • nice job mate. what did you test the tank at . . .. 4psi?

  • This is amazing work you've done. Well done, you should carry on building them and selling them. You'd make a fortune. Where do you get the plans from to build a boat like this? If you don't mind me asking?

  • Hi, how many pounds of aluminium are you using there?

  • theres approx 1000 kg of plate in this boat

  • i have a question. were did you get the foam from ?

  • any good fiberglass shop should have it

  • @tashunter and particular kind?

  • fuck mate, nice fab work by any chance are you a welder/boilermaker by trade?

  • looks like a tank of a boat!!!! nice work!

  • Hi, I was wondering if you could tell me the overall price for the boat and what kind of prices the metal sells for. Also can you just use a MIG, and one more thing, do you have any other templates or plans for smaller boats?

  • Theres not alot of ppl that seem to be able to weld aluminium. The blokes who do charge like a wounded bull, just getting a little job done on my tinny made me change my mind when i was quoted for the job. I need a mate like you, i hope your mate appreciates the work you're doing, i can't think of a better mate than a welder lol

  • Tassie of course.

  • Fabulous!

Out of interest R U in Queensland?

  • just a single phase mig and tig

  • @tashunter Nice work ...1 phase TIG...MIG...all you need if you know what you're doing...like you and I do... I've used that for aluminum boats, barges..and ...ARCO gasoline tanker trucks...

  • what do you use weld the boat together? Mig pulse? Tig?

  • Thumbs up, great work. I see allot of Fiberglas boat designs and home build kits on the Internet, is there many kits for Aluminum?

  • hi the longitudinal blk heads are a stronger way to go if welded and put in the correct places they give you more weight and a better ride and you do not get all that banging like ribbed boats do which are also prone to bustting from flexing in the hull any serious plate boat 6 mtrs and up will have bulk heads not ribbs also most have underfloor fuel tanks you dont want flexing hulls and leaking tanks cheers shane

  • Nice work! Evidently it rains a bit in Tazzy. Can you elaborate a little on the structural difference and wearability of the longitudinal bulkhead assembly vs. a ribbed structure?

  • gday mate i have a jig and templates for the hull fit up is up to the individual if you live in tasmania i may be able to assist you

  • Bloody excellent video! Ive been thing about buying a 20ft boat kit to assemble myself. However im a boilermaker by trade so i think i could build my own by scratch to save some money. Do you have any plans for this boat you would be willing to share or sell?

  • hi the plate is 5000 series which is marine grade the sides are 4mm and the hull 5 mm, the aluminium is naturally shiny all though will fade in salt water you can buy a clear finish to put on it if you wanna keep it looking new but i dont bother you also need a 5000 series welding wire for marine use 5083 or 5386 for example i would not use 4043 as its not marine grade and probably fatigue in time hope this helps cheers shane

  • Hi, I wonder what kind of plates do you use. What kind of alloy and thicknes of material ? it looks so shiny, is there a special surface prep on the plates. Do you use a special wlding alloy for maritim use ?

The reason i ask so much is because im interrested in building my own litle boat, maybe start with a dingy os somthing. At work i have acccess to 4043 welding alloy, could this work ?

Great boat you have built, looks great.
