  • That is fucking sick.

  • We're Sorry... <8)

  • Oops, what the hell do we do now??

  • This is why i'm a God fearing man.Lord almighty keep me out of the hell hole, the shit hole, the black holes.Keep me out of all holes but Holy Jesus !!!

  • No wait a minute,i think Texas came in second and New York in third place.I ain't sure, but i'm sticking to my story.Louisiana first,Texas second and New York third.State wise Lousiana is the shit !! #1 salt producer.God Bless America just the same....;)))))))))

  • God Bless America man !! the #1 salt producer in the world. Most of the salt are produced here in Louisiana.New York take second place.Country wise the Chinese are second to America as a salt producer.America is second to none !!

  • Maybe that is what happened to the City of Atlantis.

  • i thought it was the end of the world

  • So Texaco didn't have to pay anyone for their massive screwup? Something sounds fishy to me.

  • @theshyguitarist - Actually, yes they did. They paid a settlement of $32 mil to the Diamond Crystal company and $12.8 mil to Live Oak Gardens. At least according to Wikipedia. :)

  • @theshyguitarist They did have to pay.

  • Shit that doesn't happen in Minecraft! Yay!

  • So this was like 30 years ago...is the lake back at the level it was before the disaster?

  • cool ride

  • is that B.P.?

  • I remember watching this video in geology and all the students, including myself were just agape. I mean it was unbelievable what was happening. That guy in the boat was one lucky dude.

  • OMG what retards!!!! effn' oil companies always destroy everything!! f*ckn bastards!

  • @Myaucat Hey come now. Be responsible as a human being and admit that you, just like me, drive or rely on some type of oil driven mechanism in your life. We need to stop pointing the finger in all of our affairs and stand up to the plate and say, "I am responsible, I am at fault for all of the shit that is happening to the planet because of our greed and our need to overpopulate the globe with our offspring because we are so damn important.". We need to think as one or we aint gonna make it.

  • Oops!

  • This is what happens when engineers F*** Up.

I remember a professor mentioning this accident in college.

  • i saw that before it is amazing that no one was killed i would have loved to have seen it

  • His best fishin' story..ma boat tied up to ....

  • Engineering issues right there? Here's to Dislexia!

  • It's amazing how extreme the consequences can be for such a small mistake.

  • I believe buildings disappeared too

  • Bob, sit down, it is time for your employee review. You are always on time, coworkers like you but about your triangulation skills ... I want you to brush up a bit for our next drilling project.

  • just think of then the gulfs oil pockets stop exhaling its toxins and starts enhaling the water

  • Comment removed

  • I bet the Tax Payers money cleaned it up. Sounds like BP took a page out of Shells "How to fuck the American Tax Payer and get away with it book."

  • @TheCottonTop "Cleaned it" cleaned what? There was nothing left!? :D

  • HI DIGG ^^ LOL

  • amazing epic fail!

  • @nera427 That was THE MOST epic fail I've ever seen. I think ir is the very definition of "epic fail". :D

  • that is the oil drillers seriously trolling the salt miners

  • Yep, I blame the drill bit.

  • THATS FUCKIN SATANIC DUDE !!!!! SLAYER

  • fucking freaky

  • God Damn Mongolians!!

  • Holy fuckin oil soaked hurricanes man people are dumb.

  • wow now they drilled into a gas vain with BP anyone say Java mud valcano. man a new fault zone. dang that area is toast. Love Scott (BUG) great vid.

  • WOW WOWOW FUCKING WOW. FUCKING HUMANS NOTHING BUT EARTHS CANCER> I VOTE FOR MASS EXTERMINATION OF THE HUMAN RACE WHAT DO YOU SAY TEAM? WHOS WITH ME : D

  • @yourboycal Ok. You first.

  • Can you say- "Uh, woops, my bad. Sorry 'bout that."

  • i wonder if the tidy bowl man survived !!!!

  • Nice hat

  • LMAO...this is almost too funny to believe....wow...just...wow people never cease to amaze me. I will never feel bad about myself ever again. I mean, I may mess up but at least I never sunk an entire lake and destroyed a mine and etc. lol

  • epic fail

  • sounds like BIG OIL got away with another one!

  • @bret354 duhhhhhhh yeth....leth all ride horthes and walk wherever we go. We don't need fuel in this wonderful country we used to have.

  • OOOPS!!!!

  • thats one big hole to do that

  • Its a fortunite thing, that noone died. Texaco at its best. ;)

  • Capitalism at its finest.

  • communism does much better job , o wait millions of people were starved in Ukraine under communism. I ll take a few lost barges

  • oh man that is SO EPIC

  • missed by that much

  • Yes, one can make a small mistake with "spectacular" results! That got everyone's undivided attention! This disaster is horrible! The now unstable salt mine is still causing problems.

  • Damm Texaco must have been like "Fuck!" that is the worst i ever seen.

  • Looks as if someone divided by zero :O

  • Drilling is like a box of chocolates...you never know what your going to get. This is one hell of a SNAFU in the drilling industry. I have seen a lot in my 20 years of drilling but this is the worst I have ever heard of not to forget the Platform than blew all to hell in the North Sea in the 1980's and killed some 165 people.

  • damn coon asses

  • Hahahaha hell yeah man, this is good stuff.. Wish it'd happened nowadays though, there'd be tons of great video of it.

  • A little old drill bit was able to that much damage? damn. I wonder what a big old drill bit could have done?

  • probably the same thing, just a little quicker. they might not have had time to get out. although i dont know if theres much variance in drill bit size.

  • Oh my god, that must have been terrifying!

  • I'm from Louisiana. I was in the oilfield when this happened. We kept hearing rumors but thought it was a joke.Until later when I visited the site. This also happened again here on land about 2 years later.

  • chuck norris was mining down there and he got really thirsty.

this drill bit stuff is a lie... hahaha jk

still, this must have been amazing to see it real person. i would have thought the world was at its end too...sounds silly but what would u think?

  • this is w/o doubt one of the craziest things I've ever seen

  • I just read about this in The Straight Dope. Incredible.

  • wow, that's some crazy shit right there man.

  • This is where I was born and lived till I was about 5. I was too young but they tell me it was a beautiful place. My dad worked at the mine till about 1965. We had already moved away but I remember my dad having to go back to Jefferson Island after it happened in 1980.

  • oh thanks for telling us, we were all wondering.

  • hahaha no offense berkner80 but u got slapped!!! haha.

  • @Berkner80 It is a beautiful place. Very exotic.

  • I wouldn't think this is funny if someone would have died - and the miners came very close to it, I'm sure. But since everyone was technically 'safe' and nobody got killed (at least that I remember)...then this is a classic example of why the "measure 3 times, cut once" carpenters' phrase should be applied to most of the aspects in life. Measure and check your locations 3 times, drill once...in the RIGHT spot. XD

  • it's actually

    "Measure twice, cut once"

    but you were close anyway

  • We actually talked about this in my Geology class, I'm glad I found a video of it. Thanks!

  • This is wow... crazy... just wow. I am LOLOLOLing so much it's like i've never loled before.

  • FAIL

  • Are you out of your mind? Oil companies cannot be held accountable for criminal acts, or destruction to the environment as they are the ones who put that extra million dollar tip into our politicians back pocket...

  • amazing !

  • thanks, Mishaelfreudiger for posting this, I did'nt know this happen, what a sight, boy thier must have been some explaining to do. would have been a sight to see.

  • ill bet that driller shit his drawers then blamed the whole thing on the derrickman

  • seems they were drilling a straight vertical hole, so neither the driller nor the derrickman can be held responsible.

  • Still amazing when I watch it.

Takes skill to reverse a rivers direction, take out a few barges, an oil drilling platform, a few trucks, an entire mine, and acres of land with a 14 inch drill bit.

  • hahaha, skill indeed.

  • Like flushing a giant toilet!

Too bad this couldn't happen in Boston harbor, it would be an effective way to clean all the crap out!

  • I hate it when that happens.

  • holy crap...what idiots!

  • Not a history lesson, an engineering lesson.

  • Sheesh, that thing actually made a river reverse direction...that was pretty cool.

  • Where was this in a history lesson?

  • wow that is fetching crazy
