This is the true image of the band behind the usual frivolous front. As good a musicians and singers as the best of their competitors... ...I still can't help finding the 'bubblegum-teenybopper early hits charming and the pop-rock, mid era hit singles [ from Wig Wam Bam ] footstomping, kickass top-notch!!
I'M 19 years old and am member of the Sweet Forum since now nearly 4 years. I have never ever denied it! Andy, Steve, Brian and Mick should live on forever and ever! Noone should ever forget their songs! Not their bubblegum, not their hard - or glam rock nothing!!! Just everything they did was a present to us and I'm so awful sorry that they had to split up like this. Be glad 2 of them still sing for you guys! Maybe you won't hear it that long anymore...
Brilliant! Not heard this since about 1975! Just remembered it but had to look it up for the title! Great to hear it again! Brings back a LOT OF GOOD MEMORIES!
Sweet and queen are similar in many ways...but i never saw queen do such a great vocal work live.I'm not saying sweet is better than queen ...but in the live choir they definetely were.
Clockworklou, thanks a million for the gorgeous clip.LET THIS BE PROOF IF PROOF IS NEEDED THAT THE SWEET WERE AN EXCELLENT GROUP OF MUSICIANS. The 'music' of today is anything but....I'm hooked on the visual treat of seeing Brian, Andy, and Steve together like this. Just too beautiful for words. R.I.P. my darling B.C.
Beautiful song, their singing vioces, good looking fellas and they were a very experience musicians. Wish we could turn the clocks back to the 70's just to see them perform again. Saw them live in London in the 70's. Great band
first time ive seen this since 1973,i was there at the rainbow, great night, great band,i was laughed at when i was a kid cos i loved sweet but i knew i was right they was a one off.............and the Rainbow is a bloody church of some sort now, what a bloody waste of a good venue.
Looking at Brian here makes me emotional...beautiful guy with a voice we'll never hear the like of again, X factor idiots couldn't hold a candle to BC and co... Simon Cowell has created a monster.
I was only 15 when I fell for Brian Connolly. I'm now 52 and thanks to YouTube I'm still that love-struck kid... Brian's beauty lives on, beautiful in every way. I'll search for him when I get up there....
There's no need to compare (The) Sweet vs. Queen! They are both amazing musical groups, and that's the reason that their music lives on! They both had great songs, and IMO neither is better than the other. R.I.P Brian, Mick, and Freddie.
The most beautiful song ever sung. They are much better singers and players than Queen and better looking, also. Those of us in the know, know that they are the best!
I've loved Sweet since I was 9 years old, I'm now nearly 46, I still love them, they are soooooo underrated and could wipe the floor with many of their contempories, I saw them twice, and now my son in a huge fan too, they are just fantastic and were so ahead of their time
Okay all you lame metal bands with your insipid power ballads can just hang it up now! You could never even hope to come up with anything as good as this.
Yes, and dig those harmonies. Queen, eat your hearts out. The Sweet had far better, more durable songs than Queen (a band that took a lot of cues from The Sweet) could ever manage.
I'm a huge fan of both SWEET and QUEEN and I do see their similarities. But I have to say that QUEEN has just as many 'durable songs' as SWEET. They were both OUTSTANDING bands that harmonized well and that's one reason I love their music today.
todays music sux compared to the sweet my friend and i love them r band plays hellraiser, wigwam bam, fox on the run, little willy, funny funny, and once i figure this song out well play it too
this song would be a hit single for somebody now. maybe even this recording by sweet would chart if released, it's timeless, i'm amazed somrbody hasn't picked up on this songs potential
This ain't bubblegum crap here folks. It's sheer, raw rock 'n' roll talent. Too bad they don't get the credit they deserve for being incredible musicians.
I wonder how this would sound on grand piano? Covered by Tori Amos perhaps? Sweet's best power ballad, every rocker has to have one! RIP Brian & Mick.
I am someone who believes that no-one can beat this 4-piece....but Peter Lincoln can sing...I saw them live in concert not one month ago and was stood in the front row...so i know that he can sing...no BFC, true...but he can sing.
Char- did Pete sing this? I was under the impression they were just still belting out the same old, same old. And I agree no one replaces the originals. What I still wish is Andy and Stevie P could maybe put their grief aside and play together! Not happening! Now Bruce, there is a powerful drummer. Listen to his Statetrooper stuff!
they didn't sing it at Napton...i was just merely stating the point that he can sing...Bruce definitely is a enthusiastic drummer that's for sure...when they were setting up Andy, Steve and Peter kept popping on and off the stage...but Bruce just sat there playing drums like it was 'The Bruce Bisland Show'..lol....and as for Mister Stevie and Andy...neither of them have said never...it's just not the right time for them right now possibly.
I guess you're referring to the bass player/singer guy he's had for the last several years. He's no match for Brian Connolly but he does a much better job than the guy Andy had before. Brian was a very good singer, no question. So were all of the original Sweet members.

CSN harmony pop, Prog rock, heavy metal, bubblegum pop, even jazz ... they could do it all masterfully. How many other bands managed that?
