  • I really need to be doing homework.

  • wow this is even worse than mumford and sons. impressive

  • @koishki worse?

  • @joaofpl yes, obviously. both are bland, banal, derivative faux-folk bands lacking any sort of originality and talent, but at least they have an accent unlike this band.

  • @koishki LEAVE.

  • Well this sucks. I have to go to work and cannot plug up my computer in my car. I know I can make the 15 minute commute without this song, but I really don't want to.

  • This is one of my favorite band finds ever! Great live! I can't believe I've never heard of them

  • @quiquine61 what is your name? where are you from? i would like to be your friend please

  • this music is beautiful, a refreshing change from the crap that people call "music" these days

  • @Careiz14 Couldn't agree more. Their voices sound so well together it gives me chills.

  • How is this considered hipster music?

  • @daniaearth1996 How can music even be classified as hipster in the fist place? Labeling it that robs it of its depth and beauty.

  • @SwallowedByTheTide I never classified it.

  • @daniaearth1996 You know, somehow I knew you'd get the impression that I was saying that you did. I was just adding to your question haha.

  • This would be considered hipster music, and I like it

  • saw these guys live in Luxembourg, talked to the lead singer for a bit, really nice guy, awesome band, so happy i discovered them, didnt even know they were gonna be opening for my morning jacket...anyways would really appreciate it if you guys maybe checked out my band aswell, if you click my channel you'll see some videos, i promise you won't regret it :) and please thumbs this up so more people see it. Thanks

  • Awesome!

  • @Rukkil

    Thanks for your opinion, we now return you to your feature presentation: Deaf People Who Don't Know Good Music

  • This is horrible

  • @RukkiI Explain why you think this. Don't just say it. Give your reasons. I have met these guys in person. They are some of the nicest people I've ever met. They have amazing harmony and have meaning behind their music. They put their souls into it.

  • "sleepless and penniless, but inspired none the less" Its humbling to see such a talented band make it (chipvinyl.blogspot.com/2011/11/self-titled-head-and-heart.html)

  • So much good shit coming out of Seattle! Proud Seattlite here :P

  • Just saw these guys live in London (UK) Roundhouse (opened for My Morning Jacket) - blew me away - and outshined MMJ for sure - love it!

  • Badass Drummers drum with a maraca and a tambourine.

  • hot damn this is a great song

  • This is sooooooooooo awesomeeeeeeeeeee

  • @thebatcavestudios

    he's just lost in his mind man..

  • Seattle FTW! These guys were just on Letterman. Catchy song!

    You've got to be good to be on NPR without a British accent. More please!

  • Nicely said

  • Great song!

  • I love this song so much. Beautiful melody, beautiful lyrics, and totally fits me.. I get lost in my mind alll the time haha.

  • I say, Boooo (yawn). BUT it appears that they are truly believing in what they are singing and jamming to, so carry on keep jamming.

  • Anybody who commented negatively does't know a damn thing about music. We all try to be something we're not... and you guysdeff. are not music critics. This band is amazing.

  • Put it in 1080p. Much better sound...

  • Comment removed

  • @thebatcavestudios lol. You're joking right? there is no difference between 480p, 720p or 1080p in terms of sound/audio quality, the way that youtube encodes its videos. Only difference is between 360p and the rest.

  • @MacNelsen Au contraire...

    240p=60 kbps MP3

    360p=96 kbps AAC

    480p=96 kbps AAC

    720p=128 kbps AAC

    1080p=128kbps AAC

    And when I clicked on the video it was on 360p, so yes, 1080p was much better sound.

  • Comment removed

  • Comment removed

  • @thebatcavestudios I will revise my original comment though - there is no DISCERNIBLE difference between 480p-1080p in terms of sound quality... unless you are in a sound studio with a top tier sound system and sound processing hardware to match. 99.9% of the general watching population will not have this.

    And I agree with your last statement, that going from 360p to 1080p would be a huge difference. I am just saying you only have to go to 480p to get the same difference in audio quality.

  • Comment removed

  • @thebatcavestudios I have an argument for this, but for one, you are quoting numbers out of thin air that I can not confirm, specifically for the quality of audio encoded on youtube videos. What I have found is -

    240p= 64kb/s MP3

    360p= 96kb/s AAC BASELINE (default quality when video is loaded)

    360p= 128kb/s AAC MAIN (unclear what this means)

    480p= 128kb/s AAC

    720p= 152kb/s AAC

    1080p= 152kb/s AAC

  • @thebatcavestudios Bit rate is not the whole story in terms of sound quality. Bit rate is calculated by compounding Sample Rate and Bit Depth. The human auditory process (from ear drum to brain signals) cannot significantly differentiate (especially on average sound systems, as mentioned in my first post response) between 128kb/s and 152kb/s. As confirmed on youtube's website, the standard Sample Rate is 44.1khz, the standard for CDs.

  • @thebatcavestudios So whether or not it was recorded at a higher sample rate, the sound is downgraded to 44.1kHz on every AAC video quality.

    So means that the Bit Depth is what varies. Professional, high quality recordings are done at a standard of 24bits, and this is still records sounds beyond the range of human hearing. 16bit is more than enough.

  • @MacNelsen Theoretically, sure. But, when I play 24-bits through my Bose 901s and compare them to my 16-bits of the same shows, I hear a difference. When I play a 24-bit rip of a virgin Aoxomoxoa vinyl and compare it to the 16-bit version of the same recording, I hear a difference.

    Then again, when I take tests with an audiometer, I hear below 0 decibels, into negative decibels. I have a great ear. Maybe most people can't hear it, but the difference between 24 and 16 IS meaningful.

  • @thebatcavestudios

    So my final point is unless you are a canine in a professional sound studio, you will not be able to tell the difference between the sound quality of a 480p video or a 1080p video.

  • @MacNelsen i can tell the difference between 96kb/s and 152kb/s, just sayin

  • @kirkwhalen991 So can I. I said most can't tell the difference between 128kb/s and 152 kb/s. Not 96 and 152.

  • @thebatcavestudios you are right it sounds MUCH better at 1080

  • @thebatcavestudios even in 360p it has great sound

  • @MacNelsen YOU LOSE

  • @MacNelsen

    1. I'm not going to keep arguing with you about what I hear.

    2. I'm not going to desecrate this awesome video by leaving a bunch of "know it all" comments on what the definition of sound is or whatever you're trying to say.

    3. We're both fans of the band (hopefully), why not just listen man? Instead of going out of your way to try and prove someone wrong? Why not just listen??

  • @thebatcavestudios

    1.) fair enough. All in the "ear" of the beholder, I guess.

    2.) If someone is wrong... The more you know, right?

    3.) I love this song. And I do just listen. Over and over. It wouldn't matter if it was on a Miley Cyrus video or this one. If I saw a comment like that, I would reply to it.

  • The little dude in the tank top is obviously a fan of cocaine.....

  • Just found these guys, thanks to Last.fm. What a pleasant surprise, quite good!!! For all of you that comment negatively, then don't listen. Nobody's forcing you to like it. We all have different tastes, it's what makes us unique. How boring of a species would we be if we were all cookie-cutter images of one another?

  • @dirt207 So true. Well said. Thank god for intelligent life out there. Theses guys are awesome - I 1st heard them on seriusxm station The Spectrum.

  • @1986humdinger Thank you. With all the mainstream trash that is out there now, it's refreshing to find artists like these, and it's irritating to me when people spout negativity about them. Bands like these (and a plethora of other "indie" artists) are the true musicians that are severely underrated. I don't particularly care for Lady Gaga, but am I going to go to her videos and write a bunch small-minded, pissant little comments? Absolutely not; to each their own.

  • epic

  • Man, talk about some lame-ass comments. If you like it, great. If you don't, fine. Go somewhere else. But to have such a long pissing contest is nuts. What are you guys, like, twelve years old? Fer cryin' out loud.

  • I hate it when people comment about the dislikes "11 people _____"

    But this is the first video I've come across that really makes we wonder how people could dislike it. It's so good.

  • awesome song

  • "If it sounds good, it IS good." -Duke Ellington

  • why call people hipsters.....fuck

  • 3:10 is ridiculous.

  • LMAO at calling this hipster music. I live in Austin, hipster paradise. Those of us who are a little older and wiser and more exposed to music over the years can tell the difference between the crap the hipsters listen to and real musicianship. This is a fantastic song.

  • They had me at "Whoo whoo."

  • Honest, good music can always be determined when you can disregard everything but what you HEAR. I prefer to judge 'hipster-ness' after I've actually met the person... we know sometimes they can look the part, but to be truly hipster involves living life like a mega-douche, not just dressing in the uniform.

  • It's hard to find great music like this in South Florida where I live. Fortunately I'm able to listen to The Mountain 103.7 streaming over the internet.

    I suggest any one who even thinks of complaining about Seattle music first listen to streaming audio from Miami and then you'l realize how lucky you are (except for your weather of course)

  • Lovely!

  • My problems is that this is the generic sound that Seattle seems to spit out. Hipsters singing the same shit

  • is this UW's radio station?

  • The is MUSIC. Enough with the labels

  • Cropped near a tree, thinking. This song plays in my head~ c: Love it!

  • very very nice song i just think everybody should open there mind to hearing different music ,real music ,music that speaks and sends a message

  • @dougalmac54 @beentheredonethat04 it is funny to watch 2 people argue and both have good points but both totally suck at arguing their respective points... good for some lulz

  • dont fight, listen to the song, if you like it, love it if you dont, dont say anything at all. XX

  • yes. yes. yes.

  • Great tune you can feel the soul. People that don't like this are the idiots that probably like Lady Gaga garbage.

  • i love all you people!

  • Great song, ive been dancing in my living room to it all summer. (female vocals on this cut are a bit distracting, i would have left her out....) Thanks for the great music :)

  • absolutely in love with this(: I've been singing it all summer!

  • I get lost in the music :-) This is sweet to my ears and my spirit, thank you!

  • We saw them at Bonnaroo. Just heard them on the way up on Bonnaroo radio. Went to the show, and now---CAN'T STOP LISTENING! I think I know what a hipster is, and I think they would be sad if I were one (I'm too lame). I just love music that makes me feel. That's what i get from this. A universal, "I feel that too", kind of thing. I don't care what it makes me...I LOVE THIS!

  • If this is hipster music than so is the The Beatles, Crosby, Stills and Nash, Bob Dylan, and the Byrds...

  • Not hipster. Americana. Fucking amazing americana music.

  • @beentheredonethat04  Correction:

    GREAT MUSIC. HORRIBLE WHINER FAN.

  • @bblue82 who said i was a fan? how bout you worry about your own opinions and stop trying to get this ridiculous chest hair band more "fans" then they deserve --- so ya as i originally said GOOD MUSIC, HORRIBLE BAND, AND HELL NO I DEFINITELY AINT NO FAN

  • @beentheredonethat04

    blah blah blah whine whine whine chesthair!

  • @bblue82 hmmm i understand the single word "chesthair" and i see how it relates to the video but im not sure what point ur trying to prove here...? would you please give me the freedom to express my opinion without you attempting to badger me for it... thanks for growin up a little and bein mature about this darlin, i know it must be hard for your little self

  • @beentheredonethat04 More proof you have serious anger issues. Fight with everybody, maintain your shrill attempt at shoving your opinion down everybody's throats. You need serious help! And learn how to deal with other people's opinins before you criticize others for theirs. Hypocrite!

  • @beentheredonethat04 You've got some serious anger issues to deal with, try some therapy for YOUR problems. Just let the people in this band who THEY want to be, it doesn't require your caustic comments and lousy, judgmental attitude.

  • @dougalmac54 How do you decipher that Im angry over the internet? Did I use 2 many caps? & how am i not letting this band be who they want? youre definitely delusional if you feel that me posting my opinion on the appearance of this band prevents them from being who they want. that makes no sense. You are the angry one here considerng youre the one personally attacking me for simply expressing my opinion. i hope everythng in your life gets sorted out & you can be comfortable with other peoples'

  • @beentheredonethat04 Your angry little rant is all the proof I need. GET SOME THERAPY! Is that loud enough for you? You can express your litlle opinin, just be aware others, like me, may call you on it if we think it's wrong or inappropriate. Which you are on all counts.

  • @dougalmac54 im wrong for saying that i dont like this bands' style? cuz that makes the slightest bit of sense? ur halfway retarded i dont know why i'm even talking to you

  • @dougalmac54 and @beentheredonethat04 You guys are arguing in the comments section of a youtube video. Just wanted to put things in perspective.

  • @dougalmac54 opinions. throughout life you will come by many many people who have different opinions than yours and if you continue to badger and personally attack those people you wont go very far in life and you wont keep many friends. so i dont know what lead you to believe i am angry but i'm sorry if i offended you in anyway. but please for your own sake and for the peoples' sake around you. learn to be more accepting and understanding of peoples different views on things. good luck to you!

  • @dougalmac54 like i said before i like the music but the band is a little too pretentious for my taste.... hence the "GOOD MUSIC, HORRIBLE BAND" comment. you dont have to agree with me but you should respect my opinions. it shows the quality in your character. and judging on your last comment your quality in character is very low and close minded. so unless you have anything constructive to say to me please stop talking to me and let me and my opinions live on in peace. thanks again dougalmac.

  • @beentheredonethat04 based on your long-winded, multiply replies, I obviously hit a nerve. And my original assessment is correct-you have issues YOu need to deal with. and if I don't like your opinion, I'll call you on it. It's called "freedom of speech." Try learning about it. And don't expect others to respect your opinion when you make lame comments

  • hipster music or not-- shit's boring and doesn't shred my balls off

  • I've literally heard this sound a million times from a million "indie" bands and it's just as boring and generic as the first time I heard it. Can't believe Sub Pop is marketing yawnfest

  • In the beginning of the song, he sounds alot like John Rzeznik of the GooGoo Dolls...

  • Saw them on the streets a year ago in Seattle when they were homeless; still as fantastic as they were that day c:

  • THIS SONG WAS THE TRACK THAT WILL ALWAYS BE THE STROKE AND DEATH OF MY FATHER.I LOVE YOU POP.I'LL MEET YOU AT THE CROSS-ROADS.

  • Whoever said that this was "hipster" music is a fucking idiot and knows nothing about music.

  • Not sure why music has always been associated with a certain group of people. I wear a suit, slacks, and dress shoes almost every day of the year, but I still love this song.

    Arts elevates humanity as a whole. Everyone should be able to enjoy music without being generalized.

  • @kisskisskiss121212 totally....once i saw a black man dressed in an expensive suit, fancy tie and slick shoes....but he was totally blasting out killswitch engage at the gas station!

  • @kisskisskiss121212 I'm a teacher. I wear a shirt and tie to work everyday. I try and keep my kids on the right side and treat them all as equals. But I had long hair for 17 years, smoked dope, popped pills and loved my music. I cut my hair and stopped doing the other stuff, but I still love music. We're all the same. We all come from the same place. The supernovae of stars.

  • @kisskisskiss121212 well said sir

  • Nice song.

  • @ selfburacraticpenis (appropriate name btw) i repectfully dissagree. I think the hands on the hips back up vocals really just add the awesome 3 park vocal harmony cherry on top. Motion to vote previous post down

  • It would have sounded better without the woman singing.

  • The Pacific Northwest has a GREAT music scene! YEAH Northwesties!!!!

  • so many awesome bands from Seattle.

  • Awesome...Simple Awesome

  • Seattle. Nuff said.

  • wait a second how are there any dislikes at all? i mean do the FIVE of you really not like it you dissapoint me.

  • CANT WAIT TO SEE YOU IN NORTH CAROLINA!!

  • These are not hipsters. This here is a group of songsingers.

  • chuck norris listens to the head and the heart.

  • they are indie as eff.

  • Music is how you feel and if it moves you and makes you feel good that is all that matters, no matter what anyone says !! If it feels good do it !!

  • Touching. Somehow. I'm falling in love with you and your music! :)

  • Comment removed

  • Saw them at the Hop Farm Festival at the weekend and I can tell you they are way better than bloody Mumford & Sons.....

    probably better

  • this sounds soo clean litterally jus lilke the studio version

  • I saw their album in a CD-shop and knew, only by looking at the cover that the music in that album would be beautiful. And well, I was right. Cuz real artists turn to art everything they touch.

  • reminds me of Rocky Votolato

  • Real music by legitiment artists.

  • @hendrixfan143  dooooosh

  • @erindcv30

    first time I heard this song I immediately thought of my 27 yr old son born (6/6) who seems lost in his mind much of the time. This song made me weep for hope for his future:))

  • Saquatch 2011 WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT

  • I looooove them. Saw them open for Iron and Wine last night, and they KILLED IT. What does everyone think of the girl's voice? It's kind of hit or miss for me...

  • round song!

  • Dude below me doesn't know music when he hears it if he thought this was boring. This was great and kept me dancing in my seat a bit and tapping my foot to the beat. :)
