  • wacky waving arm flailing tube men, wacky waving arm flailing tube men, wacky waving arm flailing tube men...

  • y did u knot just use balls as a tier and put a moto on each ball to do the same thing

  • They are just mechanum wheels, they didn't invented them. Check them on the wiki.

  • @filix92 well duh. but the did put the work in to building something using them thats comercially viable

  • Wheel re-invented? Sort of. Check out the sidedriver wheel. Much broader use. higher speeds/loads and applications in general. no need to redesign the vehicle from ground up. Bolt-on application. SideDriverDotCom

  • you need a motor for each wheel this is stupid, thats why you dont see them in cars

  • @Milkmanbag

    You're retarded.

  • 0:38 full speed .. oh noes .... i can't watch

  • WHO'S the weirdo who voted thumbs sown on this LOL ... they probably voted for obama !!! LOL...

  • nice

  • Es una estupides!! Porque no levitar? o usar la fisica levita?

  • I am impressed

  • This looks absolutely awesome. Now to put in on something like a truck. Granted the wheels are independently powered or close to it.. and the rollers could use so tread for any thing other than working in a warehouse of carrier deck.

This and the Non-pneumatic tire are going to make motoring so much more interesting in coming years.

  • They reinvented the fucking wheel. Kudos.

  • @DeimosSaturn No. Look up FIRST robotics. High Schoolers reinvented the wheel

  • @cr656565, No, Bengt Ilon invented the the "Mecanum wheel" in 1973, 12 years before the FRC was founded...

  • It's a shame it doesn't have broader applications. This would never be feasible in a higher-speed environment. There is too little traction to ensure you can actually stop in a timely manner with the sliding motion used. Great for forklifts, lousy for everything else.

  • AND Robot Combat! Don't forget the Robot Combat.

  • Not only that, at high speeds u will find urself sliding to one side

  • This video takes me back to My Civics-Economics class.. With somthing like that warehouse orintated problems would be less =(Chain)= faster storage of items=get items out faster=better delivery of items.... UPS needs this.

  • Even with it being a niche market, the use for this could be far spread. I drive a fork lift regularly and this system would make operating in a warehouse effortless. I believe the Navy uses these on aircraft carriers to operate in the confines of the below deck hangars.

  • @0:31

"Even at a very tight turning radii." What? I think they were trying to sound smart and ended up sounding stupid. Radius is singular, radii is plural.

  • @SatansSpatula well, because this is meant generally and not just for this shown case, radii is correct.

    You fail my friend.

  • @IceBox3 uh. Read that again. "Even at *A* very tight turning radii". Had they said, "even at very tight turning radii," then your point would be valid. As it is, it's grammatically incorrect. So, um, un-fail.

  • The first thing that occurred to me is, all 4 wheels *have* to be driven with this system. So you can't make a vehicle "2wd" to save money, you gotta put drive motors on all 4. Its a niche market product.

  • And since you have to change the directions of the wheels, it pretty much has to be 4 independent electric motors.

  • yes you do have to power all 4 wheels independently but you don't need the wheels to turn left and right to steer

  • Excellent point. Also, electric motors and controllers are getting cheaper all the time. Sure it's a niche market, but so's the helicopter.

  • and the helicopter is amazing

  • Looks way to expensive to be worthwhile.

  • why would you want to climd stairs with a forklift

  • what are you stupid or something? you might need to carry something upstairs. thats why, analwipe.

  • Nice ! oO

  • novel concept...

  • I want one for my warehouse.

  • A 2" rise?

    Woo boy!

That's a huge raise in elevation..

  • it is for a 7 ton forklift, maybe....yeah

  • would stop a Shitload of accidents

  • that would be kwel for parralel parking

  • Stair climbing. LOL

  • Mecanum drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
