I was chosen to be on the Federal Grand Jury for 18 months, I only have 6 months to go. But,enough about myself. I was in awe by the court reporter and her funny "typewriter"! Can some one tell me why a period is FLPT? Also my first name is Bob and she typed it as PW O B Is that so people like me can't read it or is it just faster to type it that way? Steno on!
There is no B on the left hand side of the keyboard, so PW is used instead as a B. Similarly, the word bat would look like this: PW A T. A period is actually FPLT, and I can't tell you why...that's how I learned it a long time ago, lol.
the middle key looks like a Palantype machine.

@silvar1 How do you even know what he's pressing? it's not a key board it's a steno machine. and it spaces things out for you.

@checkmatesinger I see that the machine you use does not have a number bar like the ones we use in the US. How do you write numbers.
inturn23 1 year ago
@inturn23 In the same way that we type the words: by the sound !

My first steno instructor once told me that a period is FPLT because the sound "fuplut" doesn't mean anything =)

Very good. At the school I go to there are barely any male court reporters. I'm jealous.

I plan on being a court reporter after high school.

it looks hillarious. Just so unattached to what a laymen is used to seeing as representing transcription of language.
