What I remember about SB 43 is the safety to make it 20-16, which then gave the ball to AZ, which then score a TD. On the Steeler's game winning drive? A holding call to make it first and 20 from the 10 after a big completion. Yeah, everything was against the Cardinals though.
@Dutch952123 And if the Steelers got handed Super Bowl 43, why haven't any officials from that game came out and admitted they "gave the game to the Steelers" and "they regret it everyday of their lives"? And Bill Leavy said he "kicked a couple of calls and impacted the game". Did he say he gave the game to the Steelers? No.
@Dutch952123 Mike Pereira said that the calls in question were correct, with the exception of the low block called on Hasselbeck. He also said the team that deserved to win, won. And he was the vice president of officiating for the entire NFL... Look that up... and quit the name-calling, it's immature.
Bill levy the captain of the officiating crew came out and said he and his crew gave the steelers the game with the horrible calls and says he regrets it everyday of his life
look at all the other superbowls by all the other teams do u see any controversy on youtube or anywhere else? no you just find steeler videos that shows how bullshit it is
LMAO. I have seen many of your videos that should prove that Super Bowl XLIII was fairly won. I must say, I laugh everytime I see a Steelers hater fail to acknowledge the shitty calls that went against the Steelers, and only point out the ones that went against the Cardinals, even when the truth is right in front of their faces.
Did you sleep through Superbowl XL? First down calls during games when the chains clearly show they were short? Ever notice antics steeler players engage in that are instant penalties for any other player but are ignored?
Get your head out of your ass. I know steeler fans who just admit that they get special treatment and it has brought them wins. That's fine but trying to deny it just makes you look like a moron. Check out reality and take the yellow towel off of your face.
@giggedy4goo on the contrary, to only point out calls that benefit the Steelers is very short-sighted. Every single game in the NFL has errors by officials. The rules that govern the challenge system don't allow for all errors to be corrected. That's today's NFL. The majority of the calls that are complained about in Super Bowls XL and XLIII had very little actual impact on the game. And for every call that you can name that benefited the Steelers, I can name one that benefited Seattle or AZ.
@giggedy4goo And the fact remains that Arizona and Seattle had every chance to overcome any of the calls that are supposedly wrong. But most of the calls you would name weren't wrong. And Arizona certainly had the chance to make a defensive stand to win the game... but they didn't. What's the use of crying about it?
@chuckhowe I could care less about Arizona and Seattle. They got screwed, so what? The part that makes people laugh is steeler fans denying it. I must say, I know many who don't deny it.
@giggedy4goo Dude! Stop drinking the goo you are so giggedy 4. It just makes you sound bitter. Even if every ref, fan. player and coach admitted the 'OBVIOUS" as you put it, it would not change a fucking thing. The Vikings, Cowboys, Rams, Seahawks, and Cardinals all fell to the Steelers. The Steelers lost to the Cowboys and the Packers in superbowls and I ain't blaming the refs for shit. Enough with the tantrums already. The Steelers have six and you suck dicks
@theclitmaster666 Yet another Steeler douchebucket. I could care less if the Stealers win, it's just hilarious when their fans believe officiating was even in Superbowl XLIII. Any idea why so many stealers from the 70's teams have died? They were the original steroid monkeys.
@giggedy4goo If you could care less, why do you respond? Most of the 70's steelers are still alive. What the fuck do steroids mean to the original topic of officiating? Fans can believe anything they want, and that still does not change the fact that the Cardinals lost or that you are still crying about something that happened more than 2 years ago. The refs don't score points, players do. What was the final score? Now tell me how little you care, cockmuncher
We all know steeler fans but one thing is always the same. Well respected analysts point out the ridiculous calls they get-bogus first downs, bizarre spots, terrible calls, etc and steeler fans just don't get it. It doesn't matter what you "think", the facts are that they receive treatment from the refs that no other team gets. Watch some Youtube videos and also understand that the bogus calls are in HUGE games. Steelers are great and everything but admit the obvious please.
@giggedy4goo lmao... no one is laughing. I often hear a bunch of people whining, but never laughing...
For every "well-respected analyst" that claims the Steelers unfairly benefited from bad calls, there is another "well respected analyst" that says refereeing was a non-factor.
I find it odd that you fail to name a "well-respected analyst" that supports your opinion... I can name one that supports my opinion right off the top of my head: Mike Pereira... google it.
@chuckhowe the fact that you don't have any proof to back up your claim proves that the refs screwed over the seahawks. i have proof. ben's knee was down before he got in the end zone. the pass interference call was incedental contact, which is not a flag. the holding penalty where the seahawks had a completion to the one yard line was offsides on pittsburgh. those plays were off the top of my head. btw, for every expert who believes the officiating was fine, there are a dozen who disagree.
@billybobbobillybob Incidental contact... perhaps you should look up the definition of incidental. There is no proof that Ben's knee was down before he broke the plane. In fact, the question is whether he broke the plane prior to getting knocked backwards. He clearly drug the ball back over after he was already down. I don't think you even know why the plays are controversial. Your knowledge of the rules is shaky....
@chuckhowe incidental- happening or likely to happen in an unplanned or subordinate conjunction with something else. their contact was minimal, mutual, and unplaned. i.e. incidental. and ben's knee was clearly down. there were also two offsides missed calls and multiple holding calls blown. since ur a steeler fan, why don't u sit down and watch the whole game again, and you'll see the bad calls. even the commentators said these calls were bad.
@billybobbobillybob so extending his arm in a pushing motion that actually causedthe safety to rock back... that classifies as unplanned?
We can argue about Ben's knee all day long. Fact is there is inconclusive proof to support either argument... which, by rule means that the ruling on the field stands.
missed offsides? really? wow how impactful. I bet those 10 yards would have made all the difference in the game.
@Dutch952123 but I thought this was a conspiracy?!? like I said before, wouldn't the NFL have installed refs that would be favorable to the Steelers to insure they would win? After all, they conspired to get them to the Super Bowl. Why neglect to finish the deal on two occasions? doesn't make sense, does it?
@Dutch952123 Since you seem to know everything about the Steelers and their history, would you please point out the officiating controversy in their Super Bowl wins in the 70s? Please back up your statement. Thank you.
@Dutch952123 The immaculate reception didn't happen in the Super Bowl. It happened in the 1972 (two years prior to the Steelers first Super Bowl win) AFC Divisional playoffs. In fact, the Steelers didn't even go to the Super Bowl that year. I told you to give me the officiating controversy in the 4 Super Bowl victories in the 70s, but you only gave me one call that happened in a playoff game two years before the Steelers first title.
@Dutch952123 And are you complaining about whether the ball hit Frenchy or Tatum, or whether or not Franco trapped it? If the ball hit Frenchy then it shouldn't have counted. BUT, if the ball hit Frenchy AND Tatum, then the touchdown stands. If the ball only hit Frenchy, the ball wouldn't have bounced all the way back to Franco. The ball would have bounced sideways since Frenchy was running across the field. And there is no conclusive evidence as to whether or not Franco trapped it. So touchdown
@Dutch952123 Look at that rule more closely. It said if the ball only hit Frenchy, then Franco wouldn't have been eligible to touch the ball. But, if it hit Tatum or Tatum AND Frenchy, then he's eligible since the ball touched Tatum. If it only hit Frenchy, the ball would have never bounced all the way back to Franco. Look at a slow motion replay. It clearly bounced off of Tatum first. And by the way, you have any example of how the Steelers got handed Super Bowls in the 70s?
@Dutch952123 lmao... so the NFL would take the time to conspire to get Pittsburgh TO the Super Bowl, but then fail to insure they WIN it? Makes a lot of sense... Care to continue grasping at straws?
Rule 7, Section 4, Article 1 dictates the procedures relating to a dead ball and inadvertent whistles.
"(l) when a touchdown, touchback, safety, field goal, or Try has been made."
"(n) when any official sounds his whistle, even though inadvertently."
when a play is dead, players cannot fight for a loose ball and it requires replay evidnce of an immediate recovery. Three guys with their hands on the ball is not indisputable evidence. It doesn't matter what happened under the pile.
what about the at :36-38 seconds that hold on number 13?look at the end of the ball altogether.if you pause it right when harrison is tackled you can see he is down and ball isn't across line.not saying they cheated but this whole play was ridiculous and shouldn't have happened.and the end of the game was horrible to.the don't flag holmse for over celebration.they flagged collins last year for less.also the last play wasn't a fumble.they should have reviewed it and gave warner one last throw.
@DeathToRealMetal the "hold" you're referring to is borderline at best; Harrison rolled over Fitzgerald and the ball broke the plane before he was down; the Holmes no-call was wrong, Warner DID fumble but the play should have probably went to the replay booth.
So really you have one legitimate gripe... and it isn't like the officials don't jack things up in every other game.
@chuckhowe yes thank you for making this video. I'm tired of hearing that the steelers " lways pay the refs off" or " the steelers get every call their way, they cheat" thats just called being a bitch and making up excuses because your team lost fair and square. Heres another suggestion for a video, make one about how James Harrison gets held every play he trys to blitz. Good Video.
"given the current rules, that all calls in question on the field should be ruled a fumble."
take out the word "that" and you will get what i was trying to say. i truly apologize for my typo... i promise i will attempt to never do it again... i believe i have thoroughly demonstrated how petty you act in an argument. please feel free to attempt to gain some kind of respect back by getting the "last word"
you claim that you sit on a rulebook that you offer to send which i agree to, then i never receive. which leads me to believe you were making that up to gain credibility. i say "ben rapelisberger" and you claim it is uncouth and classless." this coming from the guy calling people on youtube haters and losers... right, i fully support you teaching civility lessons.
ok. lets take a look back. i call you a pompous prick because... well, you are being a pompous prick. so in return you call me a "hater and loser" then claim that the word "hater" means that im jealous of your teams success and the word "loser" means that i support a losing team, although you have no idea what team i support.
@tweeter31469 "it's ok that I called you a pompous prick because I think you're acting like one. It gave you no right to say that people that whine about bad calls losers and haters. And don't call me classless. BOO HOO."
Wow, your argument sits on a rock solid foundation. LMAO.
I assure you that I own an electronic copy of the rulebook, but how can I send it to you without an email address? Last I checked, you can't send attachments through youtube.
@tweeter31469 "given the current rules, that all calls in question on the field should be ruled a fumble." is that in the current rules it does not say that all calls in question should be ruled a fumble.
However, rule 15 section 9 dictates the rules regarding the relpay system and states...
@tweeter31469 But hey, I'm acting like a pompous prick by trying to tell you what the rules say... Still defending yourself for directly calling me names while simultaneously condemning you for calling you names (some of which weren't directed at you specifically... and none of which were said until after you called me a pompous prick). That, my friend, is the definition of being a hypocrite.
P.S. I never specifically said YOU were a loser or hater, although evidence would seem to indicate it.
@tweeter31469 check your inbox... if you want the actual attachment instead of a copy and paste, I'll need an email address.
Sorry to have proved you wrong again... I know how much that offends you. Maybe you should just realize that I do actually know a thing or two about what I am talking about. And if that makes me a pompous prick, I will wear that badge with pride.
and ill give you this, that frame does show that his hand is on top of two dolphins hands which are on the ball... still not touching the ball. but hey you're right. i dont know anything about football, "haters and losers" isnt name-calling, Ben is innocent, and the steelers recovered that fumble...
@tweeter31469 I have never complained that Pittsburgh has been unfairly targeted by the NFL... some Steelers' fans have, but not me... SO you've got the wrong guy there.
You still are hurling the insults pretty hot and heavy... but hey, it was totally cool to try to blast me for making a statement that was not actually made directly at you.
"given the current rules, that all calls in question on the field should be ruled a fumble." Either I am misunderstanding an incoherent rambling, or...
@tweeter31469 you did just make an incorrect statement about the rules. But what do I know? I just own the book.
Hines Ward has only been voted dirtiest player, once... not every year. Another incorrect statement.
I'd like to see a link to the Steelers being named dirtiest team... bet you can't provide one.
Again, I have tried to tell you that I actually know what i am talking about... you're probably used to dealing with fans that have a lower football IQ than me... You need to be on top...
@tweeter31469 of your game with me. I will always tell you when I think the Steelers benefited from a lucky break or even a bad call... In Miami, that was a lucky break... in the 1995 AFC Championship, Kordell's TD reception was a bad call. But hey, I turn a blind eye if it doesn't benefit the Steelers...
If I really wanted to whine about times when the Steelers got screwed, I could make a very long list... But I don't generally complain about calls... Ask and ye' shall receive. I promise...
@tweeter31469 that I can provide a long list of bad calls, some of which were more detrimental to the Steelers than anything you can name, rightfully so or not, from Super Bowl XL.
you will call anyone a "whiner" when they speak about how terrible some of the games were, all the while whining that Pitt is being unfairly targeted by Goodell for fines even though every single year the steelers have been voted the dirtiest team in the league (even worse than the raiders apparently) and also the person voted dirtiest player in the league every year happens to be on that team. (Hines Ward in case you dont know)
many times even after my team (apparently a losing team according to you) that the officiating was terrible even though my team won. and seriously? the "what you called me was worse than what i called you" argument? wow. impressive... ur a MANLY man arent ya. btw what medicine should i be taking? need to know if i should call the doc and get a prescription. fact of the matter is, you are a steelers fan who will turn a blind eye to anything that doesnt mean they win. period.
sure send me the rules chuck. i mean i have obviously established that i know nothing of the rules. given the fact that i have not said one thing wrong about the rules yet... and do you SERIOUSLY expect me to believe that when you called me a loser, you meant "fan of a losing team"? you dont even know which team i like... another misdirect? i think so... and i didnt make like of sexual assault. i simply implied that Ben committed sexual assault and got away with it. And yes, i have stated
let me guess. now im a racist too right? i mean some dumb 200lb white boy thats 5-10 wouldnt know anything about pro football... after all isnt that what all of the NE fans are sayin about Woodhead?
the recovering team should ALWAYS be established. you claim that benrapisberger said he had the ball. and OJ said he didnt kill anyone. do you believe that? then why are you taking bens word?
the current rules, that all calls in question on the field should be ruled a fumble. (if the rules were changed all fumbles would be reviewable but they are not) and the recovering team should be established. . but please oh please show me ONE frame from ANY camera that shows Ben with a hand on the ball as you claim... just one.
chuck, ya know i wouldnt have commented, but you had to go and pull out the "a few people are with me so that makes me stronger" bit . ok so yes. i called you a pompous prick. but the thing is... you WERE BEING A POMPOUS PRICK. that is not name calling. if you call a flower a flower is it name calling? nope. but calling people "haters" and "losers" is generic namecalling. so yes. YOU were pulling the classic misdirect all on your own. event someone in the special olympics can see that given
@tweeter31469 Firstly, watch this video: /watch?v=5ZM1AU5svoc at the 6:07 mark. There are about four hands on the ball, and one of them is clearly Roethlisberger.
Secondly, it is better to be thought a fool and remain quiet than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
You do not know the rules, of that I am certain. If the call on the field is a fumble, the players fight it out until the refs determine possession. But in cases in which it is not ruled a fumble, they need to see clear video...
@tweeter31469 evidence of the recovery. Once the ball is out of sight (i.e. under the pile), the ship has sailed on that. I freely admit the Steelers got lucky. But it's because of the rules, not because of some heinous miscarriage of justice. I have an electronic copy of the rulebook that I will more than gladly share with you.
Thirdly, calling him Ben Rapelisberger just further demonstrates a lack of couth and is in poor taste. We could name any number of guys on any NFL squad that have...
@tweeter31469 been accused of serious crimes. But let's forget all about them... and while we're at it, let's make light of sexual assault... SMOOTH... let me tell you.
Finally, losers (fans of the non-winning team) and haters (people jealous of others' success) are the only people that complain about "bad" calls. When's the last time you heard someone from the winning team say, "Gee Bob, the officiating in that game was horrendous!" And even if I was specifically calling you a name like...
@tweeter31469 loser or hater, It was only after you called me a pompous prick. So it wasn't a good idea to call me out for calling names, even if you thought that was my intention. That's called being a hypocrite. Also, I am pretty sure names like loser and hater are somewhere on the level of "you big meanie" whereas pompous prick is somewhere on the level of "d**khead".
I'm sorry you're offended. That's not my problem. You may think I am a pompous prick. But I am a pompous prick who is right.
@tweeter31469 Now you can either take your medicine like a man... or you can continue to whine. It's up to you. But I have provided the evidence you wanted, offered to send you a copy of the rules, and tried to explain it all to you. There is nothing more I can do here.
Impartial? Thats his job to protect the integrity of these refs. They blew it plain and simple. Almost as bad as that bullshit holding call on punt return for Ravens late in game!!!
@H2HOtex LMAO... he doesn't work for the NFL anymore, he works for FOX Sports. That means his job is to provide analysis for the network... and write articles for the website. Nice try, though.
And while he was VP of officiating, he routinely made public statements about calls that were wrong. His job was to protect the integrity of the game and to try to get the officials on the same page... but there always seems to be inconsistency among officiating crews none-the-less.
The REAL travesty was that HORRIBLE so called Superbowl when they robbed the Seahawks. Worst officiated game ever and Ben sucked so bad the Hawks should be ashamed. Thats the STEALERS of the 2000s though. The Lombardi should have been withheld for those crap teams that year.
@H2HOtex let's see what someone truly impartial has to say about the officiating from Super Bowl XL... Mike Pereira was the VP of officiating at the time of Super Bowl XL, but now he works for fox sports...
I was the officials you conveniently left out the hold on Warner during the same play and the fact Ho;mes DID NOT GET both feet down on his TD so don't post a half assed explanation to suit you bias needs
@fxrtriderman Holmes didn't get both feet down? Wow, the media really dropped the ball on that one. If it weren't for perceptive individuals like you we may have never known this heinous miscarriage of justice... Thank you for enlightening me!
And that "hold" on Warner is not going to get called 90% of the time. Offensive linemen get away with much more than that on any given running play.
@tweeter31469 You said, "it helps when you arent a pompous prick..." Therefore, you started the name-calling. What's the word for that? Oh yeah, hypocrite.
Your assessment is 100% wrong. I'm sorry that you're offended by that. Alama-Francis had his hand on the ball with another Dolphin, but so did Roethlisberger. No one recovered prior to the pile-up. According to the rules, that's inconclusive. You sure you don't want me to email you the official rulebook?
@tweeter31469 kudos at trying to win an argument by classic misdirection... next time don't start the name-calling if you're going to blast someone for it... especially when they weren't specifically referring to you.
I can see I'm dealing with a true adult here... LMAO? Isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black?
Don't be mad because I don't subscribe to your theory. Like I said, it helps to know the rules... or have access to them when you're not sure.
@Chuck. actually i understand the rules quite well. it helps when you arent a pompous prick... you are correct about the rule, but there were two angles of the replays that clearly show Alama-Francis with control of the ball, and at the time the only other person that was even touching the ball was another dolphin. with control of the ball and a pittsburgh play on his legs, he is in possession and down by contact. => miami ball. it doesnt matter what else happens in the scrum.
@tweeter31469 it also helps not to lie... There is no angle that shows Francis recovering the ball before it disappears under the pile.... period. Was it a huge break for Pittsburgh? Yes. If you don't like it, hate the rules.
Besides, only losers and haters complain about the refs.
i continue to see people claim that the pittsburgh officiating has been somehow misjudged or did not affect the outcome of the game. ill tell ya what, take a look at Miami VS Steelers 11/24/10. the line judge said to the ref "number 59 handed me the ball after the play," and he was talking about Alama-Francis of the dolphins. yet somehow that turns into a "loss of down" type scenario? what is this a back yard pick-up game? 3 dolphins fall on it, one comes up with it, but pitt ball. lovely.
@tweeter31469 it helps to understand the rules... Once the head linesman signaled the TD, the ball is dead. In cases in which a runner was ruled to have been ruled down by contact, or ruled to have scored a TD prior to a fumble in which replay shows conclusively that the player did actually fumble the ball, the only way a defensive team can recover the ball is if the video replay clearly shows a player recovering a ball. Once the ball disappears under the pile, the defense cannot recover...
@tweeter31469 When a runner is ruled on the field to have not fumbled before being down by contact (or scoring a TD), but replay determines the ball was actually fumbled prior to being down, the only way the defense can recover the ball is if the replay clearly shows an individual player recovering the ball. If the ball disappears under the pile, it is considered inconclusive and possession cannot change hands.
@drewplum according to Mike Pereira, the vp of officiating at the time of SB XL, the only one of the controversial calls that was administered incorrectly was the low-block on Hasselbeck. But everyone knew that call was BS anyway. All the other calls were correct.
that was a block in the back...if it was the cardinals returning that int. they'd be kicking a 55 yard field goal, not jumping up and down in the end zone...buy more stealers crap and you'll keep the refs on your side douche bag.
hahaha i get so sick of these crybabies talking about how the steelers cheated this and paid for that----pathetic excuses this is a mans sport remember.........like Brett Keisel says"our names are on that trophy. so what does it really matter" it all comes down to jealousy bad calls happen ever game --hell you can call a hold on every play some go for you some go against you--thats just the way the cookie crumbles--for all the steeler hater WE GOT SIX now suck it
@patmanrox making a few bad calls doesn't make for bad officiating. in every game the officials make a few errors. in super bowl xlii, the officials missed an offensive pass interference call on the giants game winning drive. you can't watch a single game that the officials get 100% right. the officiating in super bowl xliii was just as good or as bad as any other game. i don't know why people expect the officiating in the super bowl to be any different than it is in the regular season.
Since you're a Steelers fan this might be an unappropriate request. Could you make a vid on the "very questionable officiating" between the last few games between the Ravens and the Pats? Just would like to hear the opinion of someone who can give constructive critism.
sorry that i can't fulfill this request... and i am also sorry for not replying to you sooner. i am currently in iraq and am unable to upload videos in a timely fashion. which is why i haven't come out with anything new lately.
Donaghy bet on games for his own personal gain... and it was still a huge black eye for the NBA... even though it wasn't a league conspiracy. you think the NFL would really risk the integrity of the game? sure it might be more profitable short term, but if it ever came to light, they would lose HUGE... honestly, if the NFL were proven to be fixing games, i would find it hard to watch... regardless if it was in favor of the steelers or not... and teams in the huge markets you name make way...
Come on baby. If the 3 blind mice enforce the 15 yard penalty on Holmes tf celebation then Pitt kicks off 15 yard shorter and Arizona is that much closer at the end of the game. You act like the game ended after Holmes' td, but it didnt.
Arizona got the ball back and drove back down the field before Warners arm was going forward ala the tuck rule.
i think you're misunderstanding part of my argument... i concede that the celebration was a penalty and should have been called... and then who knows. but i can name a half dozen calls that went against the steelers in the playoffs since 2001 that were missed/wrong. that's not my point. i am saying that i think the rule is bogus. when the NFL instituted these rules limiting celebrations starting in 2003, people called it the No Fun League. i think that, while some are excessive, celebrations
in general have no impact on the game itself unless it results in a delay of the game... so why are celebrations penalized? bringing a foreign object on the field is different than using the ball.
also, you're too fixated on Warner's arm going forward, look at when Woodley gets his hand on the ball, Warner's arm has not started to move forward at that point. if the ball is being stripped prior to his arm moving forward, then the forward motion is inconsequential. i can make a video about it
if you like. i concede that as a steelers fan, i can't be completely impartial... however, i am not the type of fan who thinks that every other team sucks because they aren't the steelers or that every call that the refs make that benefits the steelers is right.... i do however believe people don't know the rules all the time and argue about some of the wrong calls.
@mattryanownz actually, it matters if the QB has control of the ball when his arm is moving forward... hence, if the defender starts to strip the ball prior to the QB's arm moving forward, it's a fumble... which is exactly what I said before and anyone who watches the game on a regular basis knows that.
@chuckhowe I watch every Sunday and have done so for 8 years. I study the rules and if his arm is contacted but he maintains possession of the ball and moves his arm (even a milimeter forward) it is an incomplete oass
@mattryanownz right, but Woodley is stripping the ball PRIOR to Warner's arm moving forward... if you can make an attempt at objectivity, you would see this.
All of the experts and talking heads almost universally agreed that it was indeed a fumble, the controversy was around why the guys upstairs didn't call for a review in the booth.
And that was rather odd, but the answer is that the guys upstairs so no need for a booth review, right or wrong. But it was a fumble.
I liked the old celebrations like TO's sharpie, Joe Horn's cell phone, and Chad Johnsons td celebrations and it is the no fun league, but if they penalize it all year, then look the other way for Holmes' td celebration, then that's a problem.
That's 15 yard extra the Cards didnt have at the end of that game. Weren't they in Steelers territory when Warner got stripped/robbed?
i don't believe they looked the other way so much... in most other instances, the celebration was flagged immediately after the play because the celebration was immediately after the play... but since holmes was being mugged by his teammates in the endzone, it postpones his celebration. i admit that i would be upset if larry fitzgerald had done the same thing and not been flagged. but, it happens. in general, i believe the game is won on the field, and teams need to overcome bad calls.
there is probably nothing i can say that will convince you otherwise because of the "what if" factor... i don't concern myself with "what if's" though.
what if the patriots didn't videotape games?
what if the ball hadn't been spotted on the wrong hash mark befor the patriots returned the kick for a TD in the 2001 AFCC?
what if they had called a hold on the jaguars during david garrard's scramble that sealed the jaguars playoff win in 2007?
Except this celebration was out in the open. They cant kick the ball with Holmes using a ball as a prop and 3-4 refs dont see it?
I can think of one bad guy against Pitt. It was the Palamalu pick/fumble play vs Indy in the playoffs. Pitt won anyways when Ben shoe string tackled that defender.
@chuckhowe There were 25 blown calls on the Cardinals vs. Steelers superbowl game. 25 is a monstrous amount especially considering that the superbowl referee's are supposed the be the best in the NFL. Not trying to argue just given that blurb of info. Feel free to comment back if you like, just don't be hasty.
@mattryanownz don't be hasty? Your response requires ZERO research. You pulled a random number out of your butt. And as exhibited by your other post, you have minimal understanding of the rules. Therefore, your definition of a "blown call" is in serious question. I could debate you, but it's hard to debate someone who brings nothing of substance to the discussion.
@chuckhowe Really now eh? I counted the calls and there were 25 give or take a little less/more. And it appears you need to read the rule book my friend. If his arm is hit, but he maintains possession of the ball and he moves his arm forward, it is an incomplete pass. A huge superbowl play not being reviewed was one of the worst mistakes in NFL history. I don't care if you think they reviewed it or didn't need to review, they didn't and they lost credibility from me for it.
@mattryanownz then quit watching the game... it's obviously scripted like the WWE.
Oh wait, you don't actually believe that, you just want to whine.
And like I said, you pulled a number out of your butt. You counted up the calls that you deemed to be missed, which may or may not be influenced by team bias... and on top of that, your understanding of the rules doesn't seem to be as sharp as you think it is.
@chuckhowe Do you see my name? mattryanownz, Matt Ryan is a Falcon not a Cardinal. I do not like the Caridnals that much, the Bears and the Falcons are the way to go for me. It's not that I have team bias, it's that I saw a superbowl with a huge number of missed calls (that i did not pull out of my butt). I'll admit that I don't know every rule but neither do you. I counted how many calls the referee's did or did not call according to the rules. I'll give you as many examples as you want.
@mattryanownz let me tell you something about me: I generally do a little research about things. I did notice your name, and I know who Matt Ryan is. He is my back-up QB in one of my fantasy leagues. But also noticed that you have been making a lot of comments on Steelers related videos and none on Falcons related videos.
Your name means nothing, your actions do. I could make a name FrankGoreRocks and say I have no Steelers bias. Plus, you could be a Steelers hater, they beat you in week 1.
@chuckhowe I wouldn't say I hate the Steelers, but I don't like them. I've recently been commenting on Steelers videos lately because I see Steeler-crazy fans who believe that the Cardinals paid off the refs, or no bad calls were made, etc. I haven't had the need to comment on a Falcons video (until yesterday) because no ludicrous statements have been made. I as well know a lot about the rules and find this discussion quite interesting, have a great day!
@mattryanownz I have teams around the league that I don't particularly like. The Patriots, Cowboys, and Giants come to mind.
I don't know all the rules. They are constantly evolving and are different at each level of the game. However, I know the vast majority of the rules. I can tell you the differences between a muff and a fumble. I can tell you what a palpably unfair act is. I can even tell you when a block in the back is actually legal.
@mattryanownz Refs sometimes interperet the rules incorrectly. Or you and I may interperet them incorrecty. Not to mention the human error factor. You have a linesman that is supposed to watch the blocking of 5 offensive linemen... sometimes the tight end or running backs if the team is in max protect. He will miss holds occasionally. That's been a part of the game from the game's inception. It happens. It's not that big of a deal in most circumstances.
watch the replay again. the refs are setting up for the PAT when he does his lebron impersonation. and the celebration itself has no bearing on the outcome of the game. by the book, it was a penalty and should have been called.
there were no blocks in the back on harrisons return or you could name specific players
and it takes a lot longer than 10 seconds to spot the ball after a turnover. and your point is moot because woodley if stripping the ball BEFORE warner's arm goes forward...
they looked at the play upstairs and saw no reason to take it down to the field... your only beef is that you felt they should have... maybe they should have, but it wouldn't have been overturned. and if the steelers could have snapped the ball in "10 seconds", that wouldn't have been enough time for the guys upstairs to have gotten a look to see if the play merited an official's review on the field...
the NFL stands to lose a lot more than it gains by selling "more shirts" if the integrity of the game is compromised... but you know that, because if you believed what you wrote, you wouldn't watch football.
you sire are a hater, and your tears are like music to my ears.
they dropped the ball on holmes' celebration... but they watched him forever before they went to spot the ball for the PAT, he did it when they weren't looking. and honestly, did his celebration have any factor on the cardinals ability to stop the steelers offense?
what block in the back on harrison's return? and if you want to talk about blocks in the back, what about the one sean morey commited on breastons long punt return in the first half?
decided it didn't merit an official's review on the field... maybe you feel it did merit an official's review, but you can't say it wasn't reviewed, because it was.
what about the hold that resulted in AZ's safety? that was a little borderline.
and fitzgerald running half the length of the field out of bounds just to come back in and try to tackle harrison?
sounds like the officiating was real one-sided!
have you ever seen a single game where you agreed with every call? gimme a break
Very nicely done video! Proof positive that the old "could flag em on every play" applies.
And the block Woodley made is no where near the block in the back on Roethlisberger after his INT in SBXL. But, instead of looking for excuses, the Steelers looked within themselves to turn things back around.
Granted, it is easy for disappointed fans to say "we wuz robbbed" versus "we couldn't hold them," but this one, without question, was earned - and not given.
I definitely agree with you about the officiating. I think most of the complaints are just from card fans who can't accept defeat. If the refs were for pit they would not have thrown the flag in the enzone for a safety.
@MrSnowballs53 No, I think the calls were just for Steelers fans who wanted "six superbowls". Doesn't matter, if the Niners win another, they'll be better! XD
@gaminggenius531 so the game is basically fixed then? So why haven't the cowboys or 49ers reached #6 yet? or better yt, why do you watch? you just called the NFL the WWE... what's the point of watching if you actually believe the excrement that spews from your mouth?
@chuckhowe No, the NFL isn't the WWE, because no one has to pay to win in the WWE. And maybe the Cowboys and the 49ers don't feel it necessary to pay off refs to win their 6th super bowl. Maybe they can take the fact, and stand back and say "Hey, maybe we don't need to be the best that bad, maybe we'll use the players we have to the best of their abilities.", and WOW I'm being a total asshole about this, sorry, but I guess I just don't like the Steelers.
@MrSnowballs53 but if the game were fixed, you could manipulate the outcome. The 49ers hung close the entire game against the Saints, for instance, a few conveniently placed bad/missed calls could have made all of the difference in the world. And that's what these clowns are trying to say, the Steelers are the beneficiaries of some league-wide conspiracy to sell merchandise.
Unless of course the games only start to be fixed in the playoffs... either way, the argument holds very little water.
how long did it take you figure that out? i admit my team bias in the first line of the description of this video. and of course, this means i must be incapable of being objective.... even if you believe that the calls went unfairly in the steelers favor, which you obviously do, you know that bad/missed calls are a part of the game. either you overcome them or you don't. the steelers overcame the bad calls against them, the cardinals didn't.
This game is flawed cuz of the betting thus the officiating will never be fair- as the games are almost always called to be an exciting down to the wire affair. Throw in replay and you can manipulate the game as you see fit. The steelers had won that superbowl in an Office at NFL HQ the week before the game.
i might post a video about the safety... i just like stirring the pot with the whiners. it's awfully funny that none of them post anything when there is clear eveidence that the officials weren't as one-sided as they like to make it seem.
NFL wants money. More people like Steelers. There's your solution.

No.
DMStearn 7 months ago
@DMStearn Bill leavy didnt come out immediately
and he didnt make the rapelisberger touchdown or pushoff td reception call which were the two biggest calls of the game, the other refs did
so he didnt even make the worst mistakes of the game and he came out and apologized
that shows how fucked up that game was
Dutch952123 7 months ago
@Dutch952123 Mike Pereira said that the calls in question were correct, with the exception of the low block called on Hasselbeck. He also said the team that deserved to win, won. And he was the vice president of officiating for the entire NFL... Look that up... and quit the name-calling, it's immature.
chuckhowe 7 months ago
Bill levy the captain of the officiating crew came out and said he and his crew gave the steelers the game with the horrible calls and says he regrets it everyday of his life
You cant argue with that

LMAO. I have seen many of your videos that should prove that Super Bowl XLIII was fairly won.
Check out reality and take the yellow towel off of your face.
giggedy4goo 8 months ago
@giggedy4goo on the contrary, to only point out calls that benefit the Steelers is very short-sighted. Every single game in the NFL has errors by officials. The rules that govern the challenge system don't allow for all errors to be corrected. That's today's NFL. The majority of the calls that are complained about in Super Bowls XL and XLIII had very little actual impact on the game. And for every call that you can name that benefited the Steelers, I can name one that benefited Seattle or AZ.
chuckhowe 8 months ago
@giggedy4goo And the fact remains that Arizona and Seattle had every chance to overcome any of the calls that are supposedly wrong. But most of the calls you would name weren't wrong. And Arizona certainly had the chance to make a defensive stand to win the game... but they didn't. What's the use of crying about it?
chuckhowe 8 months ago
@chuckhowe I could care less about Arizona and Seattle. They got screwed, so what? The part that makes people laugh is steeler fans denying it. I must say, I know many who don't deny it.
giggedy4goo 8 months ago
@giggedy4goo Dude! Stop drinking the goo you are so giggedy 4. It just makes you sound bitter. Even if every ref, fan. player and coach admitted the 'OBVIOUS" as you put it, it would not change a fucking thing. The Vikings, Cowboys, Rams, Seahawks, and Cardinals all fell to the Steelers. The Steelers lost to the Cowboys and the Packers in superbowls and I ain't blaming the refs for shit. Enough with the tantrums already. The Steelers have six and you suck dicks
theclitmaster666 6 months ago
@theclitmaster666 Yet another Steeler douchebucket. I could care less if the Stealers win, it's just hilarious when their fans believe officiating was even in Superbowl XLIII. Any idea why so many stealers from the 70's teams have died? They were the original steroid monkeys.
giggedy4goo 6 months ago
@giggedy4goo we all know your opinion. you have stated everything you believe about the Steelers at least three times on this thread.
chuckhowe 6 months ago
@giggedy4goo If you could care less, why do you respond? Most of the 70's steelers are still alive. What the fuck do steroids mean to the original topic of officiating? Fans can believe anything they want, and that still does not change the fact that the Cardinals lost or that you are still crying about something that happened more than 2 years ago. The refs don't score points, players do. What was the final score? Now tell me how little you care, cockmuncher
theclitmaster666 6 months ago
We all know steeler fans but one thing is always the same. Well respected analysts point out the ridiculous calls they get-bogus first downs, bizarre spots, terrible calls, etc and steeler fans just don't get it. It doesn't matter what you "think", the facts are that they receive treatment from the refs that no other team gets. Watch some Youtube videos and also understand that the bogus calls are in HUGE games. Steelers are great and everything but admit the obvious please.
giggedy4goo 8 months ago
@giggedy4goo lmao... no one is laughing. I often hear a bunch of people whining, but never laughing...
For every "well-respected analyst" that claims the Steelers unfairly benefited from bad calls, there is another "well respected analyst" that says refereeing was a non-factor.
I find it odd that you fail to name a "well-respected analyst" that supports your opinion... I can name one that supports my opinion right off the top of my head: Mike Pereira... google it.
chuckhowe 8 months ago
@chuckhowe the fact that you don't have any proof to back up your claim proves that the refs screwed over the seahawks. i have proof. ben's knee was down before he got in the end zone. the pass interference call was incedental contact, which is not a flag. the holding penalty where the seahawks had a completion to the one yard line was offsides on pittsburgh. those plays were off the top of my head. btw, for every expert who believes the officiating was fine, there are a dozen who disagree.
billybobbobillybob 4 months ago
@billybobbobillybob Incidental contact... perhaps you should look up the definition of incidental. There is no proof that Ben's knee was down before he broke the plane. In fact, the question is whether he broke the plane prior to getting knocked backwards. He clearly drug the ball back over after he was already down. I don't think you even know why the plays are controversial. Your knowledge of the rules is shaky....
And show me a dozen experts that disagree.
chuckhowe 3 months ago
@chuckhowe incidental- happening or likely to happen in an unplanned or subordinate conjunction with something else. their contact was minimal, mutual, and unplaned. i.e. incidental. and ben's knee was clearly down. there were also two offsides missed calls and multiple holding calls blown. since ur a steeler fan, why don't u sit down and watch the whole game again, and you'll see the bad calls. even the commentators said these calls were bad.
billybobbobillybob 3 months ago
@billybobbobillybob so extending his arm in a pushing motion that actually causedthe safety to rock back... that classifies as unplanned?
We can argue about Ben's knee all day long. Fact is there is inconclusive proof to support either argument... which, by rule means that the ruling on the field stands.
missed offsides? really? wow how impactful. I bet those 10 yards would have made all the difference in the game.
Clown shoes.... keep whining.
chuckhowe 3 months ago
they got good refs in the ones they lost
Dutch952123 8 months ago
@Dutch952123 but I thought this was a conspiracy?!? like I said before, wouldn't the NFL have installed refs that would be favorable to the Steelers to insure they would win? After all, they conspired to get them to the Super Bowl. Why neglect to finish the deal on two occasions? doesn't make sense, does it?
chuckhowe 8 months ago
@Dutch952123 Since you seem to know everything about the Steelers and their history, would you please point out the officiating controversy in their Super Bowl wins in the 70s? Please back up your statement. Thank you.
DMStearn 8 months ago
@DMStearn immaculate reception enough said
Dutch952123 7 months ago
@Dutch952123 The immaculate reception didn't happen in the Super Bowl. It happened in the 1972 (two years prior to the Steelers first Super Bowl win) AFC Divisional playoffs. In fact, the Steelers didn't even go to the Super Bowl that year. I told you to give me the officiating controversy in the 4 Super Bowl victories in the 70s, but you only gave me one call that happened in a playoff game two years before the Steelers first title.
DMStearn 7 months ago
@Dutch952123 And are you complaining about whether the ball hit Frenchy or Tatum, or whether or not Franco trapped it? If the ball hit Frenchy then it shouldn't have counted. BUT, if the ball hit Frenchy AND Tatum, then the touchdown stands. If the ball only hit Frenchy, the ball wouldn't have bounced all the way back to Franco. The ball would have bounced sideways since Frenchy was running across the field. And there is no conclusive evidence as to whether or not Franco trapped it. So touchdown
DMStearn 7 months ago
@DMStearn the rule stated an offensive player isn't allowed to catch a ball after deflected off another offensive player
Dutch952123 7 months ago
@Dutch952123 Look at that rule more closely. It said if the ball only hit Frenchy, then Franco wouldn't have been eligible to touch the ball. But, if it hit Tatum or Tatum AND Frenchy, then he's eligible since the ball touched Tatum. If it only hit Frenchy, the ball would have never bounced all the way back to Franco. Look at a slow motion replay. It clearly bounced off of Tatum first. And by the way, you have any example of how the Steelers got handed Super Bowls in the 70s?

chuckhowe 8 months ago
Rule 7, Section 4, Article 1 dictates the procedures relating to a dead ball and inadvertent whistles.
"(l) when a touchdown, touchback, safety, field goal, or Try has been made."
"(n) when any official sounds his whistle, even though inadvertently."
when a play is dead, players cannot fight for a loose ball and it requires replay evidnce of an immediate recovery. Three guys with their hands on the ball is not indisputable evidence. It doesn't matter what happened under the pile.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
what about the at :36-38 seconds that hold on number 13?look at the end of the ball altogether.if you pause it right when harrison is tackled you can see he is down and ball isn't across line.not saying they cheated but this whole play was ridiculous and shouldn't have happened.and the end of the game was horrible to.the don't flag holmse for over celebration.they flagged collins last year for less.also the last play wasn't a fumble.they should have reviewed it and gave warner one last throw.
DeathToRealMetal 9 months ago
@DeathToRealMetal the "hold" you're referring to is borderline at best; Harrison rolled over Fitzgerald and the ball broke the plane before he was down; the Holmes no-call was wrong, Warner DID fumble but the play should have probably went to the replay booth.
So really you have one legitimate gripe... and it isn't like the officials don't jack things up in every other game.
chuckhowe 9 months ago
@chuckhowe yes thank you for making this video. I'm tired of hearing that the steelers " lways pay the refs off" or " the steelers get every call their way, they cheat" thats just called being a bitch and making up excuses because your team lost fair and square. Heres another suggestion for a video, make one about how James Harrison gets held every play he trys to blitz. Good Video.

@tweeter31469 "Note 1: If the ruling of down by contact or incomplete pass is changed, the ball belongs

Secondly, it is better to be thought a fool and remain quiet than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Offensive linemen get away with much more than that on any given running play.

name calling and blatant denial of facts. i see im dealing with a true adult here...
tweeter31469 1 year ago
@tweeter31469 You said, "it helps when you arent a pompous prick..." Therefore, you started the name-calling. What's the word for that? Oh yeah, hypocrite.
Your assessment is 100% wrong. I'm sorry that you're offended by that. Alama-Francis had his hand on the ball with another Dolphin, but so did Roethlisberger. No one recovered prior to the pile-up. According to the rules, that's inconclusive. You sure you don't want me to email you the official rulebook?
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@tweeter31469 kudos at trying to win an argument by classic misdirection... next time don't start the name-calling if you're going to blast someone for it... especially when they weren't specifically referring to you.
I can see I'm dealing with a true adult here... LMAO? Isn't that like the pot calling the kettle black?
Don't be mad because I don't subscribe to your theory. Like I said, it helps to know the rules... or have access to them when you're not sure.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@Chuck. actually i understand the rules quite well. it helps when you arent a pompous prick... you are correct about the rule, but there were two angles of the replays that clearly show Alama-Francis with control of the ball, and at the time the only other person that was even touching the ball was another dolphin. with control of the ball and a pittsburgh play on his legs, he is in possession and down by contact. => miami ball. it doesnt matter what else happens in the scrum.
tweeter31469 1 year ago
@tweeter31469 it also helps not to lie... There is no angle that shows Francis recovering the ball before it disappears under the pile.... period. Was it a huge break for Pittsburgh? Yes. If you don't like it, hate the rules.
Besides, only losers and haters complain about the refs.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
i continue to see people claim that the pittsburgh officiating has been somehow misjudged or did not affect the outcome of the game. ill tell ya what, take a look at Miami VS Steelers 11/24/10. the line judge said to the ref "number 59 handed me the ball after the play," and he was talking about Alama-Francis of the dolphins. yet somehow that turns into a "loss of down" type scenario? what is this a back yard pick-up game? 3 dolphins fall on it, one comes up with it, but pitt ball. lovely.
tweeter31469 1 year ago
@tweeter31469 it helps to understand the rules... Once the head linesman signaled the TD, the ball is dead. In cases in which a runner was ruled to have been ruled down by contact, or ruled to have scored a TD prior to a fumble in which replay shows conclusively that the player did actually fumble the ball, the only way a defensive team can recover the ball is if the video replay clearly shows a player recovering a ball. Once the ball disappears under the pile, the defense cannot recover...
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@tweeter31469 When a runner is ruled on the field to have not fumbled before being down by contact (or scoring a TD), but replay determines the ball was actually fumbled prior to being down, the only way the defense can recover the ball is if the replay clearly shows an individual player recovering the ball. If the ball disappears under the pile, it is considered inconclusive and possession cannot change hands.
it helps to know the rules.

yes it was bad officiating and even worse in the '06 super bowl
patmanrox 1 year ago
@patmanrox making a few bad calls doesn't make for bad officiating. in every game the officials make a few errors. in super bowl xlii, the officials missed an offensive pass interference call on the giants game winning drive. you can't watch a single game that the officials get 100% right. the officiating in super bowl xliii was just as good or as bad as any other game. i don't know why people expect the officiating in the super bowl to be any different than it is in the regular season.

You know as well as I do that teams like the Lakers in the NBA and Pittsburgh in the NFL get the benefit of calls.
Tim Donaghy ring a bell? You really in your heart believe nothing is shady with officials?
Those leagues are businesses first. They gotta get ratings with big markets like LA, NY, Boston, and Chicago.
Or in the case of the Steelers who have a huge front runner fan base.
ElectrifyingUno 2 years ago
Donaghy bet on games for his own personal gain... and it was still a huge black eye for the NBA... even though it wasn't a league conspiracy. you think the NFL would really risk the integrity of the game? sure it might be more profitable short term, but if it ever came to light, they would lose HUGE... honestly, if the NFL were proven to be fixing games, i would find it hard to watch... regardless if it was in favor of the steelers or not... and teams in the huge markets you name make way...
chuckhowe 2 years ago
more money than Pittsburgh does. Dallas and San Francisco also have storied traditions... but things haven't gone their way in recent years.
chuckhowe 2 years ago
Come on baby. If the 3 blind mice enforce the 15 yard penalty on Holmes tf celebation then Pitt kicks off 15 yard shorter and Arizona is that much closer at the end of the game. You act like the game ended after Holmes' td, but it didnt.
Arizona got the ball back and drove back down the field before Warners arm was going forward ala the tuck rule.
ElectrifyingUno 2 years ago
i think you're misunderstanding part of my argument... i concede that the celebration was a penalty and should have been called... and then who knows. but i can name a half dozen calls that went against the steelers in the playoffs since 2001 that were missed/wrong. that's not my point. i am saying that i think the rule is bogus. when the NFL instituted these rules limiting celebrations starting in 2003, people called it the No Fun League. i think that, while some are excessive, celebrations
chuckhowe 2 years ago
in general have no impact on the game itself unless it results in a delay of the game... so why are celebrations penalized? bringing a foreign object on the field is different than using the ball.
also, you're too fixated on Warner's arm going forward, look at when Woodley gets his hand on the ball, Warner's arm has not started to move forward at that point. if the ball is being stripped prior to his arm moving forward, then the forward motion is inconsequential. i can make a video about it
chuckhowe 2 years ago
if you like. i concede that as a steelers fan, i can't be completely impartial... however, i am not the type of fan who thinks that every other team sucks because they aren't the steelers or that every call that the refs make that benefits the steelers is right.... i do however believe people don't know the rules all the time and argue about some of the wrong calls.
chuckhowe 2 years ago
@chuckhowe Please do make a video of it. It doesn't mater when his arm was contacted, it matters when the ball started moving FORWARD.
mattryanownz 1 year ago
@mattryanownz actually, it matters if the QB has control of the ball when his arm is moving forward... hence, if the defender starts to strip the ball prior to the QB's arm moving forward, it's a fumble... which is exactly what I said before and anyone who watches the game on a regular basis knows that.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@chuckhowe I watch every Sunday and have done so for 8 years. I study the rules and if his arm is contacted but he maintains possession of the ball and moves his arm (even a milimeter forward) it is an incomplete oass
mattryanownz 1 year ago
@mattryanownz right, but Woodley is stripping the ball PRIOR to Warner's arm moving forward... if you can make an attempt at objectivity, you would see this.
All of the experts and talking heads almost universally agreed that it was indeed a fumble, the controversy was around why the guys upstairs didn't call for a review in the booth.
And that was rather odd, but the answer is that the guys upstairs so no need for a booth review, right or wrong. But it was a fumble.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@mattryanownz Furthermore, Woodley isn't contacting his arm, he puts his hand right on the ball...
chuckhowe 1 year ago
I liked the old celebrations like TO's sharpie, Joe Horn's cell phone, and Chad Johnsons td celebrations and it is the no fun league, but if they penalize it all year, then look the other way for Holmes' td celebration, then that's a problem.
That's 15 yard extra the Cards didnt have at the end of that game. Weren't they in Steelers territory when Warner got stripped/robbed?
ElectrifyingUno 2 years ago
i don't believe they looked the other way so much... in most other instances, the celebration was flagged immediately after the play because the celebration was immediately after the play... but since holmes was being mugged by his teammates in the endzone, it postpones his celebration. i admit that i would be upset if larry fitzgerald had done the same thing and not been flagged. but, it happens. in general, i believe the game is won on the field, and teams need to overcome bad calls.
chuckhowe 2 years ago
there is probably nothing i can say that will convince you otherwise because of the "what if" factor... i don't concern myself with "what if's" though.
what if the patriots didn't videotape games?
what if the ball hadn't been spotted on the wrong hash mark befor the patriots returned the kick for a TD in the 2001 AFCC?
what if they had called a hold on the jaguars during david garrard's scramble that sealed the jaguars playoff win in 2007?
shit happens... the hell with it.
chuckhowe 2 years ago
If I had wings I would fly too.
ElectrifyingUno 2 years ago
@chuckhowe There were 25 blown calls on the Cardinals vs. Steelers superbowl game. 25 is a monstrous amount especially considering that the superbowl referee's are supposed the be the best in the NFL. Not trying to argue just given that blurb of info. Feel free to comment back if you like, just don't be hasty.
mattryanownz 1 year ago
@mattryanownz don't be hasty? Your response requires ZERO research. You pulled a random number out of your butt. And as exhibited by your other post, you have minimal understanding of the rules. Therefore, your definition of a "blown call" is in serious question. I could debate you, but it's hard to debate someone who brings nothing of substance to the discussion.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@chuckhowe Really now eh? I counted the calls and there were 25 give or take a little less/more. And it appears you need to read the rule book my friend. If his arm is hit, but he maintains possession of the ball and he moves his arm forward, it is an incomplete pass. A huge superbowl play not being reviewed was one of the worst mistakes in NFL history. I don't care if you think they reviewed it or didn't need to review, they didn't and they lost credibility from me for it.
mattryanownz 1 year ago
@mattryanownz then quit watching the game... it's obviously scripted like the WWE.
Oh wait, you don't actually believe that, you just want to whine.
And like I said, you pulled a number out of your butt. You counted up the calls that you deemed to be missed, which may or may not be influenced by team bias... and on top of that, your understanding of the rules doesn't seem to be as sharp as you think it is.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@chuckhowe Do you see my name? mattryanownz, Matt Ryan is a Falcon not a Cardinal. I do not like the Caridnals that much, the Bears and the Falcons are the way to go for me. It's not that I have team bias, it's that I saw a superbowl with a huge number of missed calls (that i did not pull out of my butt). I'll admit that I don't know every rule but neither do you. I counted how many calls the referee's did or did not call according to the rules. I'll give you as many examples as you want.
mattryanownz 1 year ago
@mattryanownz let me tell you something about me: I generally do a little research about things. I did notice your name, and I know who Matt Ryan is. He is my back-up QB in one of my fantasy leagues. But also noticed that you have been making a lot of comments on Steelers related videos and none on Falcons related videos.
Your name means nothing, your actions do. I could make a name FrankGoreRocks and say I have no Steelers bias. Plus, you could be a Steelers hater, they beat you in week 1.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@chuckhowe I wouldn't say I hate the Steelers, but I don't like them. I've recently been commenting on Steelers videos lately because I see Steeler-crazy fans who believe that the Cardinals paid off the refs, or no bad calls were made, etc. I haven't had the need to comment on a Falcons video (until yesterday) because no ludicrous statements have been made. I as well know a lot about the rules and find this discussion quite interesting, have a great day!
mattryanownz 1 year ago
@mattryanownz I have teams around the league that I don't particularly like. The Patriots, Cowboys, and Giants come to mind.
I don't know all the rules. They are constantly evolving and are different at each level of the game. However, I know the vast majority of the rules. I can tell you the differences between a muff and a fumble. I can tell you what a palpably unfair act is. I can even tell you when a block in the back is actually legal.
Also, rules are subject to interpretation...
chuckhowe 1 year ago
@mattryanownz Refs sometimes interperet the rules incorrectly. Or you and I may interperet them incorrecty. Not to mention the human error factor. You have a linesman that is supposed to watch the blocking of 5 offensive linemen... sometimes the tight end or running backs if the team is in max protect. He will miss holds occasionally. That's been a part of the game from the game's inception. It happens. It's not that big of a deal in most circumstances.
chuckhowe 1 year ago
Youtube wont let me post links so google steelers steroid use, the book false glory, and the movie cocaine cowboys.
You'll see the steroid use they gained over other teams that weren using and such. The book false glory was a former Steelers player admitting it.
ElectrifyingUno 2 years ago
They missed Holmes TD celebration? How convienant. So kicking off 15 yards shorter wouldnt have made a difference? Sure..
Harrisons return td resulted in a score and the hits from behind were numerous.
How can you review a play withing 10 seconds? You got to stop the game and review Warners arm going forward.
Why have replay if you can quickly go, "nah nothing there".
The NFL is a business. They want to sell t-shirts and merchandise so Pitt sells more than Arizona or Seattle. Period.
ElectrifyingUno 2 years ago
watch the replay again. the refs are setting up for the PAT when he does his lebron impersonation. and the celebration itself has no bearing on the outcome of the game. by the book, it was a penalty and should have been called.
there were no blocks in the back on harrisons return or you could name specific players
and it takes a lot longer than 10 seconds to spot the ball after a turnover. and your point is moot because woodley if stripping the ball BEFORE warner's arm goes forward...
chuckhowe 2 years ago
they looked at the play upstairs and saw no reason to take it down to the field... your only beef is that you felt they should have... maybe they should have, but it wouldn't have been overturned. and if the steelers could have snapped the ball in "10 seconds", that wouldn't have been enough time for the guys upstairs to have gotten a look to see if the play merited an official's review on the field...
chuckhowe 2 years ago
the NFL stands to lose a lot more than it gains by selling "more shirts" if the integrity of the game is compromised... but you know that, because if you believed what you wrote, you wouldn't watch football.
you sire are a hater, and your tears are like music to my ears.

-Holmes TD celebration not called?? 15 yards for using ball as a prop when he did the Lebron chalk toss. 3 REFS MISSED IT??

-Warners arm going forward on last play that was ruled a fumble and NOT REVIEWED.

they dropped the ball on holmes' celebration... but they watched him forever before they went to spot the ball for the PAT, he did it when they weren't looking. and honestly, did his celebration have any factor on the cardinals ability to stop the steelers offense?
what block in the back on harrison's return? and if you want to talk about blocks in the back, what about the one sean morey commited on breastons long punt return in the first half?
the fumble was reviewed upstairs, they...

and fitzgerald running half the length of the field out of bounds just to come back in and try to tackle harrison?

thePoWerofthefitz 2 years ago
Very nicely done video! Proof positive that the old "could flag em on every play" applies.
And the block Woodley made is no where near the block in the back on Roethlisberger after his INT in SBXL. But, instead of looking for excuses, the Steelers looked within themselves to turn things back around.
Granted, it is easy for disappointed fans to say "we wuz robbbed" versus "we couldn't hold them," but this one, without question, was earned - and not given.
Good luck to the Cards in 09!

@MrSnowballs53 No, I think the calls were just for Steelers fans who wanted "six superbowls". Doesn't matter, if the Niners win another, they'll be better! XD

chuckhowe 1 year ago
@chuckhowe No, the NFL isn't the WWE, because no one has to pay to win in the WWE. And maybe the Cowboys and the 49ers don't feel it necessary to pay off refs to win their 6th super bowl. Maybe they can take the fact, and stand back and say "Hey, maybe we don't need to be the best that bad, maybe we'll use the players we have to the best of their abilities.", and WOW I'm being a total asshole about this, sorry, but I guess I just don't like the Steelers.
gaminggenius531 1 year ago
@gaminggenius531 What are the Niners...oh yeah, 0-5. Its gonna be awhile before that happens.
MrSnowballs53 1 year ago
@MrSnowballs53 but if the game were fixed, you could manipulate the outcome. The 49ers hung close the entire game against the Saints, for instance, a few conveniently placed bad/missed calls could have made all of the difference in the world. And that's what these clowns are trying to say, the Steelers are the beneficiaries of some league-wide conspiracy to sell merchandise.
Unless of course the games only start to be fixed in the playoffs... either way, the argument holds very little water.

how long did it take you figure that out? i admit my team bias in the first line of the description of this video. and of course, this means i must be incapable of being objective.... even if you believe that the calls went unfairly in the steelers favor, which you obviously do, you know that bad/missed calls are a part of the game. either you overcome them or you don't. the steelers overcame the bad calls against them, the cardinals didn't.
chuckhowe 2 years ago
They sucked and made a lot of mistakes.
This game is flawed cuz of the betting thus the officiating will never be fair- as the games are almost always called to be an exciting down to the wire affair. Throw in replay and you can manipulate the game as you see fit. The steelers had won that superbowl in an Office at NFL HQ the week before the game.
