alot of abandoned hospitals are getting destroyed here in the usa eastcoast...its a shame ...i could only imagine how awesome it would be for a abandoned hospital like hellingly to just stay abandoned forever ...
can't believe I mssed this video, that was a fantastic day one of the best urbex trips I've ever done in one of my all-time favourite locations...just saw the vids of the tower being demolished, what a difference a year makes :(
If it hadn't been vandalised so badly I wonder if they could have turned the buildings into apartments and not had to raze them all to the ground to build new houses that won't last as long as this lovely old building. My mother was a nurse here too and a lot of my childhood was spent at the playschool, the social club and around the hospital. They had the best ever bonfire nights - hot potatoes in foil cooked in the huge fire.
Thanks for posting this. It's a great shame as this used to be a beautiful place inside and outside before it closed and the vandalism started. My mother used to work there in Keymer ward, and the playschool we attended was right next door, so we used to get to spend a lot of time exploring the grounds and the hospital itself. That was about 30 years ago.
