I love the way that a lot of animals give birth to hairless, almost foetal young with closed eyes that gradually develop into recognisable babies, whereas guinea pigs give birth to... tiny guinea pigs.  It's so cute. :P

Yes, they do that for the hormones it gives as it helps to get her milk to start flowing.

Guinea pig pregnancy, birth and babies are just the cutest things, they really are. The moms are so huge and happy (at least mine have been), and the babies are so incredibly cute, precocious and fast-learning about human beings.

Guinea pig births aren't so intrusive.. I've had six litters and you really only see the sow bending over and then suddenly the whole pup is out!
