@pipefitters1 If by "better" you mean what is easier to use in trading, buying, and selling, I'd have to say coins. Which is probably why even in these days of fiat money you walk around with coins in your pocket rather than bars of metal.
I have acquired 2000 camels and 5 of the rarest goats on earth, aswell as 5 feilds of sugar cane to marry your daughter, i will be waiting at the mirage located out in the desert of egypt to make the exchange, My Coordinates are:
@kymopar 90% silver coins have always been more desireable by collector's and others for inflation/hyperinflation preparation. For example, refineries will take all the 90% silver coins you want to sell, but they'll usually turn down the 40% coins as they're more costly to melt.
@superhawkn That's too bad. I wouldn't blame them, however. The big banks and market manipulators are playing their little paper silver games artificially keeping the price low. As a result, everyone is stocking up on the physical metal causing shortages, high premiums, and minimums. Junk silver on ebay is now selling routinely at around a 10% premium over the "official" melt price.
As long as times are normal and your trading with highly informed buyers then feel free to buy foreign bullion and coins. My concern is a collapse of the US dollar. Americans will get a crash course on American and even Canadian silver and gold coins. However, will you black market or neighborhood trading partner understand just what the heck a Credit Suisse bullion product is?
You mentioned on your Blog "Rick's Recommendation: Steer clear of all foreign and collector's coins."
As far as Gold is concerned: Does this mean Canadians and American coins only? Or can I buy the Credit Suisse and Perth Mint Gold also? I kinda like how they are encased in their own tamper proof Assay Certificate credit card-like thingy. I might even trust it more than a plain American Eagle that doesn't come with any assurance
@Lengarces I never used Westminster Silver, but their American Eagle Monster Box seems to run a few hundred dollars more than APMEX. Not really a huge deal, though, if you like their service, delivery, and product.
@Lengarces Now if you don't mind me throwing-in another well respected Company. its Called:"Mint Products" dot com, i bought plenty from them and had a excellent experience with this Company they are to my knowledge have a one-of-a-kind Layaway system that is totally awesome. you pay 10% as a down-payment and pay as you go month to month or whatever fits your payment arrangement (options) and there is "NO" time-limit frame were you have to pay or else. i give it a 4 1/2 out of 5 stars
@TheCrackerbob My preference is buy junk silver pre-1965 dimes, quarters, and halves for your first silver investment. They were "real money" once, and they may just be "real money" again in the future due to their 90% silver content. I'd buy at least $500 face value in junk silver before purchasing any American Silver Eagles. I'm just not a fan of the rounds. To most people today "private money" or rounds is like counterfeit money, and I don't have the time or the interest in explaining!
@TheCrackerbob The Buffalo one gold troy oz rounds would definitely be "real money" during inflationary and hyperinflationary times. However, in a more primitive survival situation a buffalo round would be like having a thousand dollar bill in your wallet. You'd have a heck of a time spending it and an even harder time getting correct change! During times like those small silver coins are best.
you remind me of the cliche person who is fanatic about bad times and anarchy. It's funny :D. You seem nice though none-the-less.

I like Westminster Silver better than Gainesville. Lowest price for American Eagles I have seen. I also like Provident, Monarch and Gainesville.
