I have to agree with diddledoo, you should work on the left hand muting that Rocco is so famous for. But I think you do a great job, I've been playing this tune myself, so I know it's hard ;)

almost bro. you've just got to get the muting with the left hand down. he doesn't actually let each of those 16 th notes ring out like you do. he partially mutes them with his left hand. watch videos of him playing it and you'll see what I mean.

Look hear, youtube is still new in allowing people to showcasre their INSTRUMENTAL skills, so this guy grabbed a camera and played what he practiced, squared or loose, he's doing a good job. This bassline ain't no joke, so please give him break and chill. Another point about funk is to ENJOY the feel. He obviously does and did great! Play on, PLAYA! If folks are gonna rag and nit-pick, go listen to people like Bob Dylan and THEN you'll learn to appreciate what intricate deatils of funk are.

You don't understand ghosting and time...you're playing it too, too square and straight on the beat. you're missing it. Listen again.  You've got the fingers but not the groove.

Yeah i can see what you mean. Is jsut to straight. Funk is meant to be straight. But has to set with a groove. Its just a bit to choppy for funk. Other than that a good cover.

Yeah, though its tight feeling, funk actually needs micro-timing moving, like if the sace betwin the metronome and the notes that are played was slightly growing and shrinking around the click.
