I have travelled to many places in the world, and no other culture has touched my heart quite like the aboriginal peoples. The first aboriginal person I met face to face I immediately fell in love with, you could literally see the wisdom, love and gentleness in their soul. I made a point of travelling to and staying on reservations, slums and poverty stricten areas that had a predominant aboriginal populace, and never once did I feel threatened or unsafe.

It is such a sad thing for all concerned. The only positive aspect is that most of the stolen children are better educated healthier and a lot less likely to be in prison. There life expectancy is a lot better than other aboriginal peoples and job opportunities are given. Psychologically the parents and children are scarred and most never know what happens to the rest of their family. Some children are abused sexually and physically although less than other aboriginal children

To be honest, it is very sad that a culture has extinct. But shouldn't we be looking forward instead of ruthless effort trying to bring a lost culture back? Government should put more effort on helping these people in adapting to modern society so they don't get discriminated against. Aboriginals in our society have been in a disadvantage position because they are less educated.

Right now, people tries to seek the past and no one wants to look forward. No good.

Unfortunately, western historians try to minimize uglyness of that custom saying that children got education, jobs in return. Still, it not enough to justify it. We feel ofended, but we dont accept from them any apology. Its hard for them to understand horror of that custom, they lack empathy. "Stolen Generations" video has reminded me about same custom that Ottoman empire practiced on occupied christian nations(Serbs. . .)

It was known by the name devshirme(collecting) by Turks or the TAX IN BLOOD by Serbs. Turks would came every year to collect that tax choosing best children and taking them away from their families, people, land to Istambul. They would become "Janisseries" or even grand Veziers (Mehmed pasa Sokolovic).
