well the ford gt must have not been far behind and when it was done looking at the civic it just passed right by, i think the gt was just out for fun and the guy in the civic was trying as hard as posable. just an opinion. i respect any well built car import or domestic. i just prefer domestic.
@092601abc Seriously doubt the Civic is 1,500lbs. Even the top Street Outlaw drag racers come in at ~2,100lbs. People like to exaggerate how light Civics are.
Give more horses to Civic and it will kick that "rusty bucket GT" from the track. American cars are terrible at the corners. Well ZR1 is good but only that one.
@vampiregt600 lol saying the gt is bad at corners you are truly a fucking moron. it still ranks high on the nurburging top times and its dated from 2005. this car was praised more than anything for its amaziing handling
@Storm7289 Well douchebag we can definalty see in this video, that even simply civic is much faster in the corners then yours lovely ford, and i bet u can buy like 5 or more civics like that for one Fords GT price. Nurburgring is high speed and fast corners track. And almost all supercars got records of nurburgring so its nothing special.
@RockThePylon I'd drive it till the wheels fell of haha. I'd even take it to the local Ford dealer just to see the look on their faces when I ask for a tune up lmao!
One guy is in a 20k car and it doesn't really matter if he wrecks it. The other is in a 170k Supercar, and a wipe out in it would hurt the wallet, because insurance doesn't pay if you wreck on a race track. So of course the GT driver will go easier on it.
@Curveball So what's your point? Why pay so much for a fast car if you aren't going to enjoy it? I'd rather either take my chances with wrecking the Ford GT or buy a 5k car and invest a few grand and ENJOY IT rather than blow 170k on something that i'm going to baby... waste of money is a waste >.>
It's his car, if he wants to push it, he will. If he doesn't, he won't. Maybe he has only had it a few days and is trying to get used to it. Do you know? No, you don't.
The only reason you would think buying a $170k and babying it is a 'waste' is because you cannot afford a $170k car.
@Curveball How do you know what I can and cannot afford? Idc if I had $10 million dollars sitting in the bank. If i didn't intend on going fast, and driving it hard i wouldn't pay $170k for a Ford GT. It's not like it's a super comfortable luxury car. It's a sports/muscle car made to go fast... Just like Lamborghini's, ever road in one? Uncomfortable as hell. If I didn't plan on driving it hard, i wouldn't buy it. Fool.
Do you have reading and comprehension problems, or are you just stupid? You didn't buy the car, it isn't your car, so you complaining about how they use THEIR CAR is pointless. And you don't have 10m in the bank. I doubt you have 10k in the bank.
@Curveball I was giving you my opinion to your comment about "One guy is in a 20k car and it doesn't really matter if he wrecks it. The other is in a 170k Supercar, and a wipe out in it would hurt the wallet, because insurance doesn't pay if you wreck on a race track. So of course the GT driver will go easier on it." Fool goml
@Curveball If you have the pockets to modify something like a Ford GT then you have the pockets to repair/replace said car. To give you an idea The September (article can be found online) issue of Honda Tuning had an article about a guy that built a 96 Civic for the track simply because his R35 was getting it's butt handed to it by the semi-competitive FF Honda guys. The R35 is easily a superior car to the GT, and it struggles with the modified FF guys.
So your point is, if you can afford a Ford GT, then it is ok to try to push the car on a race track when you're not used to the car, just because if you wreck it, you could afford another? You are aware that insurance doesn't cover crashes on a race track, right?
I knew a truck driver that saved 240k over 25 years. He bought an used Ferrari 355 for 80k. Just because someone has a great car doesn't mean they can afford to replace it.
@Curveball Thee exception does not disprove the general rule. If you spend a large chunk of your life savings on a car, well that's just poor life choices. As for not only buying a very expensive and rare car but modifying it, the amount of money involved in modifying such high end cars usually exceeds the cost of the car, simply reinforcing my previous statement.
Poor life choices according to whom? The guy had a house on a lake that he owns, a Ferrari 355, and was retired at 55 years old. He was a very happy man up to the point I moved away, so I cannot say if he remained that way.....but being happy and comfortable is a very good life choice. He got everything he wanted.
If that is a bad choice, then I hope I 'suffer' the same measure of 'bad' in my life.
@Curveball I like how you dodge the issue. We are talking about modified cars first off, but I will add that any financial adviser would laugh if you suggested buying a Ferrari with a large chunk of your retirement fund wasn't a bad idea. Of his supposed $240k he now has $160k to live from 55 til death. That lasts a whopping 8 years if you live off $20k a year. I did leave out interest, but if he's lucky he might see $5,000 a year on that.
I didn't dodge anything. An article about a guy that has a car he cannot handle doesn't prove anything.
And you may want to tell your 'financial adviser' that lake front property is an investment, the value always rises, and cars like Ferrari's are investments you can have fun with. If you own everything you have, then cost of living is lower, and if you have great credit, 401k, and Social Security coming, then you're going to be fine.
@Curveball Article about a guy with a car he can't handle lol. track times speak for themselves, it's all out there for you to look up, The current record holder of FF cars on several tracks posted better times than GTRs on the regular. Novak, the guy the article is about, has several cars he races and does so competitively...I highly doubt a seasoned racer is failing to handle a car but believe what you want.
@Curveball I'll also add that land in most areas is not keeping up with inflation, meaning it's not an investment, it's a money loss. Even if the house was increasing in value, it's unusable money, he can borrow against it but what is he going to pay it with? Not to mention 401K, for a truck driver...your story keeps getting richer and richer. And let's all be honest, Social Security is a joke at best.
You taking a shot at truck driving? You are aware truck drivers can make 45k in their first few years, and highly experienced drivers can bring in 65k a year? Driver trainers can make even more. Owner operators make the most, around a dollar a mile, 3,000+ miles a week. Do the math.
You live in the truck. You don't need to have a house, so you have no common bills like rent, electric bills, property taxes, etc. A truck driver can save a lot of money quickly.
@Curveball You forget, most truck drivers are self employed. Even the ones that are employed by a company generally are not offered a 401K or profit sharing. Then to top it all off you gave very specific numbers on how much money the guy had, how much he spent and all his big ownerships, leaving very little wiggle room in the money. So one of us did do the math and it was not you. Even the amount you mentioned, if properly invested into IRAs and whatnot don't add up to enough.
No, most truck drivers are not self employed. Some are owner operators, but the vast majority are company drivers. And I only know about the guy because he was fends with my dad, and I had been to his house. My Dad was a Fleet Manager, and knew everything there was to know about truck driving.
@Curveball First you site specifics. When I addressed them, you tried to duck out by showing "they this and that". You probably thought the amount of money you previously posted was a "WOW" number, but it wasn't when I broke it down to yearly. I mean 20k a year, that's poverty line, and he does have to pay the bills you spoke of. So where does your argument go now?
I didn't duck anything. Every point you think you have I address. And you think saving 20k a year is nothing? Saving....not making. That means after all your bills and expenses, 401k, Insurance, etc.....saving 20k a year is nothing? lol
@rileyrat77 As for the GTR getting beat by the Civics. To be honest I sited the article, the subject of the article is the owner of the GTR. He was inspired to build a K swapped 96 HB because of how badly the FF guys were beating him...his words, not mine.
Instead of simply stating "Come on man... read the article, or hell look up track times. The full info on the article mentioned: Honda Tuning, September 2011 - "2001 Honda S2000 and 1996 Honda Civic CX - Grown Folks’ Toys
Every road course I watch, Corvettes, Vipers, Porsche's, GTR's, and the rare but awesome NSX's are annoyed and slowed by cars like Civics. But if you stay on tiny tracks where real cars cannot put their power down, I guess it's easy to look like a hero. But spend your money on what makes you happy.
@Curveball So what defines a "real" race course now? please, as we are now using self defined definitions to prove our points let the rest of us in on it. VIR, one of the tacks a Civic currently holds the FF record on, and it did it on the full course set-up or 3.27 miles.
Do you even know what FF means? Is a Porsche 911 an FF car? Is a Corvette? Is a Viper? Is an R35 GTR? So why are you bringing up FF records? That is irrelevant.
@Curveball Honestly, you are such a try hard. You should bow out now as you can't even seem to follow the conversation properly. I mean look above to where you have taken it, trying so hard to find an area where you might know more than I. I can tell you that after paying 75k+ for a GTR and pumping another 30-40k into various performance mods a race team was able to best the HART Civic by 3 seconds...So at 3x the cost they got em by 3 seconds.
Like always, a poor person complains about a car costing too much, just because he cannot afford it. A GTR costs more because it's a better car. Is that too hard for you to grasp? Many people find a complete car that is world class from the start far more appealing than a cheap ugly little car that you have to dump money into to compete with real cars. And the only reason the ugly little car is popular is because it's light, not because it's appealing or great.
I like that people think a Ford GT is somehow related to the race car it pays tribute to. The GT 40 was brilliance, a car to define that era of racing. The GT is a street car that shows it's only true abilities in the straights...power. It's a powerful car being piloted by a very poor driver.
Meanwhile the Civic is very much a track car (this particular one, not all), it's 240hp is it's weak spot with a driver that has much more talent. This is much the same as when a Lotus runs up on a Viper.
@kyleisreallycool more like 2,000lbs. The weight removed is usually added back in via safety equipment. It's pretty common for this era of Civic to push 275whp at the track and still do just fine in the traction department, this isn't Gran Turismo on the PS2 where it's all or nothing.
if you look the civic is getting smashed on the straight aways the driver is just pushing it harder around corners and the gt driver is like leisurely driving it not pushing it at all
@sabbath178 I agree, I don't know why people insist on comparing cars from completely different classes to each other. I have a lightly tuned EG hatch myself I love to drive, its cheap, reliable and fun, but I'm under no illusion that it compares in any way to a $100K plus car. A better comparison would be the Honda NSX Type R and the Ford GT with similar tuning budgets.
Useless SQUID in the Ford GT needs to stop blowing money on mods to get "700hp" and needs to learn how to drive....... I hope someone gave that tool some direction.
Wow..really? Driver in the Gt obviously isn't pushing it and who cares if you can keep up with it around the corners..a ford Gt is a beautiful timeless designed automobile. a civic is a civic...a grocery nabbing family car designed for daily commutes and fuel economy. Good for you and coilovers, swaybars and race tires..aside from lap times the GT is a far superior car.
Dude in the civic can drive! Dude in the GT needs to push that thing. even stock he should have done better. watch how the civic hugs the corners and the Gt tends to stay in the middle slowing him through the S-curves. and the civic is obviously set up for this..check the center bar on the steering wheel...no doubt a great track car.
@lax if a picture is worth a 1000 words then this video is worth a few trillion but can be summarized as "that quarter million dollar ford got its ass beat by a p.o.s. FWD civic." American made cars belong in one place and that's the American junk yard. Btw Ford didn't make the first car. Mercedes did. I blame the american education system ... it's about as worthless as the American cars. Now rather than doing the speed limit these assholes try to make their digital plant grow in their Prius.FML
@fawkUtube I find your militant, negative hatred for American cars/ America quite ignorant. Not everyone here is a dumb fuck, and not all of our cars suck. Deep down you know this, you're just too much of an ignorant asshole to admit it. Maybe one day you will open your eyes and stop seeing things in such horrible black&white contrasts, and will stop tossing blanket statements that include an entire nation. You're part of the problem in this world. You add nothing but hate to it. Congrats.
@xilix Just cause your born somewhere doesn't mean you have to love it , in my case i can see through America as in ... kill the Indians make the Africans build the country and then sell our debt over seas while buying everything from China .... Fuck America and you
@fawkUtube Except Europeans were actually here before the indians. Disease was the biggest killer of indians. Africans just picked cotton for the south, they didnt build our country, china buys our debt because we spend trillions giving aid to the world, coming to the rescue of of european countries which was a huge part of our debt is because you all didnt pay us back. We see you for what you are... Whining little pussies who cant defend themselves and Fuck you right back..
@CrotchRocket78 First lesson Native Americans are called that because they are NATIVE Europeans are called Europeans because they come from EUROPE got it dip shit?. Diseases are engineered. Without slave labor we wouldn't have had as successful of an early economy and USA would be way behind other countries. Today we make up wars and go to "rescue" people from their way of life to americanize them and steal their oil and to bomb their homes and children, rape woman and kill news reporters.
@fawkUtube They were called native because it was thought they were here first, but if you has kept up with recent science, it was found that they werent. Disease are natural, that have been around since dinos.. I would ask if you have been to iraq or afgan, but i know the answer.. If you were there you would have known that terrorist suicide bombers were the killers of new reports,children and did most all the rapes.. That requires you to have an actual brain. Funny, i havent seen the oil yet.
@fawkUtube Its that socialist mindset and government wont lie to us brainwashing crap that you are going off of.. Europe is a cesspool of suedo communist governing and only getting worse. The US economy supported the UK, France,Russia in ww2. Had it not been for us. You all would be speaking german. I know its hard for you europeans to swallow your pride that the US bailed your asses out of 2 wars. Somebody had too.. I bet you think the UN is honest and great as well dont you?
You have no clue who you are talking to. I am an anti-American American. Born in the U.S. Live in the U.S. and will hopefully not die in the U.S. So i wouldn't be speaking anything i don't choose to speak. I suppose pearl harbor wasn't Americas fault when they incited war by placing that economy killing oil embargo on Japan. 9/11 .. a 30 minute attack leads to a decade of war occupying a dozen country's US is a joke and soon the rest of the world is going to wake up and wipe it off the atlas
@CrotchRocket78 Let me clarify i don't hate what America was,... i hate what America is,.... I don't hate what America stood for,.... I hate what it stands for.
lol the gt needs something better than regular street tires to perform, and it looks like the honda has some stiff as suspension. that puts the weight and size of the honda lets it take corners fast cuz its such a small car. the gt can handle good it just needs better tires, and from the looks of it, some stiffer shocks.
Did anyone understand why you cann't make 500Hp from 1.6 L engine? All the matter is engine caracity. Capacity means torgue (Joule). Torque means acceleration. Blocks can handle only 2,5 times more the designed torgue, and not more. If you want to make more torgue, you have to do a heat-treated suitable to the block to increase durability. which is not easy and it doesn;t worth it at all. No one do that.
if i had a gt i would want to not risk wrecking it at the track even if that meant letting some ricer pass me knowing that the ricer thinks hes badass for passing but towards the end you were floored and he passed you effortlessly, so no ricer 0 - gt 1,
lil civic screaming for mercy, it doesnt have a snowball chance in hell against the GT but an A for effort, he prob used the 3.9 quarts of oil in the crank case on that run,. but quick for what it is, nowhere remotely as fast as the GT
that civic has at least 500 bhp because that speedometer just CAN'T climb like that at only 240 bhp. check out honda civic ek4 (blue one) and u'll see what I'm talking about
@MrAlexdive it doesnt matter who you're speaking to. but if you must know, my actual job title is an Aviation Maintenance Technician in the military. ive driven hondas over 11 years. i know what they can do. and if its a honda 1.6L, its DEFINITELY capable of 500hp or more. theres plenty of videos on youtube of a 99-00 Si that comes with a B16, making over 500hp. its boosted, but it can happen as a 1.6. not to be an ass, but i think you have some more learning to do.
@MrAlexdive no it doesnt. the 1.6 is still revving to its stock limits. which is 8000, and some people just take it to about 8600. you can make 500hp on a boosted 1.6 without having to rev so high. its ok, we know you dont know hondas. stick to whatever it is you think you might know.
@joescivic can you expalin to me how is that possimple to produse a 1.6l about 50Kgm and the ford gt about 6L 70? because with the 8000rpm that;s the torque. it cann't be. Is just engineering laws. which you do not know.
@MrAlexdive nevermind im done with you. you clearly dont know much. theres plenty of videos to back it up on youtube. and get yourself a honda with a 1.6L in it, and boost it without making the displacement bigger. come back when you do. i know im right.
@joescivic First: I'm not a boy i'm older than you. Second: Do you speak Greek? I do not think so. Third: Do you have engineering university education? Νο. Fourth: do you know what torgue and power is, and how the machine produce it? No. Fifth: Show to me a dyno test from a 1.6l 500Hp or anything similar to pay attention.
@MrAlexdive so you're older than 27 i take it? no i dont speek greek, nor do i care. i dont have an engineering university education either, but what i do for a living is engineering and other maintenance, but on aircrafts. but i do work on my car, and i know what im talking about. i know what power and torque is, and i showed you a bunch of dynos of a 1.6 and 1.8 making well over 500hp. alot of people can back up what im saying. 1.6 can DEFINITELY make 500hp. it can DEFINITELY make more too
@joescivic agreed. especially motorcycle engines. A turbo 1 litre motorcycle engine can make 500 hp too. and that's about as small as engine's get on street legal machines. Loads of those videos on youtube
@MrAlexdive and just to add, since you also said 1.8. how about 1.9? theres a 1000+hp civic at the shop down the street with a b18c1 motor which is a 1.8. he made it a 1.9L and it has over 1000hp.
@joescivic man stop..i can not stop launging... you really have fun man.... (Oh... i forgot to mention, i have a crx 1.6) ;)..... (1000Hp at what rpm?).....hahahahha.... at 12000rpm???.... that;s doesn't counds. Man you do not have the knowledge. so stop saying and listen a man how knows more more than you...
@MrAlexdive your english sucks, so its hard to take you serious, boy. i know what im talking about. and a 1.6 can have 500hp without revving so high. you're a waste of time. theres no need to explain anything
@joescivic That machines you send me, is waste of money. because all these is a matter of time to broke up. Because works with much force from that are able to handle in some space of time. Are 100% sure that an engine 1.6 with over 40Kgm is gonna brake. Just matter of time. When a overboosted machine approach the limit of the work "circlus", then will brake. Some machines brake during the dyno. There are a lot of these videos. There are limits in engineerning, which you do not know.
@MrAlexdive you keep assuming i know nothing. i already proved they can make well over 500hp. my friends integra that is over 500hp has been running for a long time. yes, they have limits, numb nuts. stop trying to come back at me like im wrong about something. ive been right the whole time, and just proved you wrong on what you said. now you come back to ASSUME i didnt know they have a limit. but 500hp is very reliable if you know how to take care of your car.
@joescivic You know basically ANY car can be 500hp+? The only people that TRULY like civics are fanboys. I race autox and drive a 92 MX5, all the civics here in orlando get CREAMED cause they're SHIT. Fwd? what a joke.
@hardcoreblowsbigones no shit kid. thats what i was telling the other idiot. i said the WHOLE ENTIRE time, they can make 500+ easily. go talk shit somewhere else. like this video, i see civics taking out cars like yours or alot of other cars. am i a fan boy? NO. i just happen to know what the fuck im talking about. all you civilian e-thugs have no life but to talk shit to someone with a civic. and MOST of us have other cars as well. not just a civic.
@MrAlexdive What the hell are you trying to say? So a small engine will not make reliable power? A lot of factors go into determining if an engine will make reliable power. Not all engine builders use the same parts, fuels, and tuning. But I'm sure it won't make as much power as a larger displacement engine. But the larger displacement engines can be just as vulnerable to failure. Just let people run whatever engine they want. It's their money.
@nis915 neither do I understand what you trying to say. I just said, there are limits for how much let an engine, to handle extra power. Over these boundries, machine will fall. The limits allow about 3 or 3,5 times more power from the starting desing point. many engines crashed becaue overodose exceed the safety limits of an engine.
@MrAlexdive I agree a smaller engine will make less power while still remaining reliable than a bigger engine. It's common sense since you will probably have half of the volume to effectively burn the fuel. But I believe you are pulling numbers out of your ass. And I'm two classes away from a BS in ME.
@nis915 watch your mouth. I speak gently. I have a diploma of MECHANICAL engineer of the greatest university of Athens Greece (-EMP -National Technical University) , and i'm working now (4 years) on a Phd , over in mechanical of fluids, If all these means nothing for you, then ok. And also i have experience in industry about 10 years. do you want to send you my full cv?
@joescivic οκ! lets assume that civic makes 500Hp in 9000rpm! do you know how to canculate the torque? IT'S about 40Kgm or 400Nm. That's means (40/15) the engine, put out 3,6 times more force! It can be. But berally before engine block crash out. Because blocks designed to handle about 2,5 force more. And all these, if at the 9000 rpm. If the power makes less than 9000, that means the torgue is much more... did you get it???
@joescivic there is a something else. you say 500Hp from 1.6. Ok! but if it makes it at 11000rpm, it doesn't say nothing to me. that not counds. because the torque is still low. everything is torque.
@joescivic man it was funny. because I searched.. and quess what? I found two civics (dyno test). the first makes 500Hp with 2.0l engine and the second 760hp, with 2.2 L engine. Try to find a dyno 1.6l with 500Hp. just there isn't.
@Thorexthx this hatch is about 2200-2300lbs from the factory on an empty tank. we dont know if it was gutted for the track or not either, but i will assume it has been a bit gutted. now, watch "k24 99 civic si reving it up 2". its a 99 Si coupe, full interior, which from the factory, and its original 1.6 motor weighed 2613lbs. so its possible its heavier. he dynoed 217whp (i can vouch for this car). watch his speedo, and realize, he has a much heavier car, and only dynoed 217whp.
@Thorexthx also, watch "My K24a2 EM1" its another full interior EM1, but he made 230whp. yeah its wheel HP. different than BHP or crank HP. watch how his car accelerates on his speedo.
@Evilenigma1986 this is actually more about driver skill then car. GT is actually built for the track, and can smoke the civic easily. Driver just doesnt push it and doesnt know how to race.
240 hp my ass... theirs no way ...or the forg gt couldnt drive for shit.....if the owner of the civic was smart he wouldnt be driving a civic!!!!!............ a real track horsepower race is 1000hp ford gt vs 1000hp supra.....<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< thats a real race with 2 people that know how to drive real cars!!
@2005diana2005 no, thats a real drag race, or one that should be held on the sarthe track. A civic is a perfect car for a track like this, very balanced and very light, and driven by a driver like this guy possible to take the best lines while driving full out. Granted the gt driver wasn't that good, but it's also not easy to handle high horsepower on a track with so much level change. can't go full out often with a car like that on a track like that.
why cant people understand horse power doesnt make a car faster?its al about balance and power to weight ratio.. the gt is heavy with power.. the civic isnt heavy with a decent amount of power. if only people would watch some INITIAL D they would understand better. haha, talk to any professional racer and they will tell you balance, tuning, brakes and suspension are more important than power. the civic brakes later than the gt, it accelerates earlier than the gt, and corners quicker than the gt.
@nkballa54 so back in 2005 why shouldnt have honda raced the little civics? ill answer, the ford gt is mostly aluminum and fiberglass and if you had someone that knew how to drive one it is the fastest mid engine rear whell drive car
Looks like somebody needs to learn how to drive a Ford GT. If the owner of the Civic was smart enough, he would have got on the inside of the corners, threatening to swap paint would have made pretty boy back off.
Looks like somebody needs to learn how to drive a Ford GT. If the owner of the Civic was smart enough, he would have got on the inside of the corners, threatening to swap paint would have made pretty boy back off.
@TheScomil1 I'm sry I was baffled by your comment. I didn't know if you noticed how many times the "Civic" ran off the track. My count in the first 2 minutes was 9 for the chase car. GT... 0. Didn't know if you also didn't notice the number of times the GT walked away from the "Civic?" Just wanted to enlighten you. =]]
@XxPBFLxX I"m baffled that you didn't notice that a honda civic with 240 hp just smoked a ford gt w/700 hp. You also notice how much faster that civic was driving after he passed the GT. I don't need your enlightenment, you just need to know cars.
@TheScomil1 seriously? Did you say smoked?! Watch the video again. Think about what your saying! A 240 hp power car with roughly 220ft/lbs of torque is going "smoke" a 700 hp roughly 600ft/lbs of torque, GT. Numbers don't lie. As far as knowing cars goes, I'm confident in saying that GT let that "civic" pass him.
@XxPBFLxX Why don't you read the orginal post. .Let me copy and paste the first sentence for you.......Looks like somebody needs to learn how to drive a Ford GT. You are right but you don't know how to read. The person driving the Ford GT doesn't know how to drive it. He should have smoked the civic. The fact the civic kept up in the first place tells me that the driver of the GT doesn't know how to drive. The fact that you are arguing with me tells me you don't know how to read
Looks like somebody needs to learn how to drive a Ford GT. If the owner of the Civic was smart enough, he would have got on the inside of the corners, threatening to swap paint would have made pretty boy back off.

Nurburgring is high speed and fast corners track. And almost all supercars got records of nurburgring so its nothing special.

Obviously I would want to drive it for what it was.
But it's a Ford GT, they don't make them any more. You bag that sucker and something breaks, your heart and soul breaks with it.

I'd rather either take my chances with wrecking the Ford GT or buy a 5k car and invest a few grand and ENJOY IT rather than blow 170k on something that i'm going to baby... waste of money is a waste >.>
th3m8ngtree 2 months ago
@th3m8ngtree
It's his car, if he wants to push it, he will. If he doesn't, he won't. Maybe he has only had it a few days and is trying to get used to it. Do you know? No, you don't.
The only reason you would think buying a $170k and babying it is a 'waste' is because you cannot afford a $170k car.
Curveball 2 months ago
@Curveball How do you know what I can and cannot afford? Idc if I had $10 million dollars sitting in the bank. If i didn't intend on going fast, and driving it hard i wouldn't pay $170k for a Ford GT. It's not like it's a super comfortable luxury car. It's a sports/muscle car made to go fast... Just like Lamborghini's, ever road in one? Uncomfortable as hell. If I didn't plan on driving it hard, i wouldn't buy it. Fool.
th3m8ngtree 2 months ago
@th3m8ngtree
Do you have reading and comprehension problems, or are you just stupid? You didn't buy the car, it isn't your car, so you complaining about how they use THEIR CAR is pointless. And you don't have 10m in the bank. I doubt you have 10k in the bank.

th3m8ngtree 2 months ago
@Curveball If you have the pockets to modify something like a Ford GT then you have the pockets to repair/replace said car. To give you an idea The September (article can be found online) issue of Honda Tuning had an article about a guy that built a 96 Civic for the track simply because his R35 was getting it's butt handed to it by the semi-competitive FF Honda guys. The R35 is easily a superior car to the GT, and it struggles with the modified FF guys.
rileyrat77 2 months ago
@rileyrat77
A GTR vs a Civic? Come on man....
Curveball 2 months ago
@Curveball Thee exception does not disprove the general rule. If you spend a large chunk of your life savings on a car, well that's just poor life choices. As for not only buying a very expensive and rare car but modifying it, the amount of money involved in modifying such high end cars usually exceeds the cost of the car, simply reinforcing my previous statement.
rileyrat77 2 months ago
@rileyrat77
Curveball 2 months ago
@Curveball I like how you dodge the issue. We are talking about modified cars first off, but I will add that any financial adviser would laugh if you suggested buying a Ferrari with a large chunk of your retirement fund wasn't a bad idea. Of his supposed $240k he now has $160k to live from 55 til death. That lasts a whopping 8 years if you live off $20k a year. I did leave out interest, but if he's lucky he might see $5,000 a year on that.
rileyrat77 2 months ago
@rileyrat77
Curveball 2 months ago
@Curveball Article about a guy with a car he can't handle lol. track times speak for themselves, it's all out there for you to look up, The current record holder of FF cars on several tracks posted better times than GTRs on the regular. Novak, the guy the article is about, has several cars he races and does so competitively...I highly doubt a seasoned racer is failing to handle a car but believe what you want.
rileyrat77 2 months ago
@rileyrat77
What do track times of FF cars have to do with an R35? An R35 isn't an FF car.
Curveball 1 month ago
@Curveball I'll also add that land in most areas is not keeping up with inflation, meaning it's not an investment, it's a money loss. Even if the house was increasing in value, it's unusable money, he can borrow against it but what is he going to pay it with? Not to mention 401K, for a truck driver...your story keeps getting richer and richer. And let's all be honest, Social Security is a joke at best.
rileyrat77 2 months ago
@rileyrat77
Curveball 1 month ago
@Curveball You forget, most truck drivers are self employed. Even the ones that are employed by a company generally are not offered a 401K or profit sharing. Then to top it all off you gave very specific numbers on how much money the guy had, how much he spent and all his big ownerships, leaving very little wiggle room in the money. So one of us did do the math and it was not you. Even the amount you mentioned, if properly invested into IRAs and whatnot don't add up to enough.
rileyrat77 1 month ago
@rileyrat77
No, most truck drivers are not self employed. Some are owner operators, but the vast majority are company drivers. And I only know about the guy because he was fends with my dad, and I had been to his house. My Dad was a Fleet Manager, and knew everything there was to know about truck driving.
Curveball 1 month ago
@Curveball First you site specifics. When I addressed them, you tried to duck out by showing "they this and that". You probably thought the amount of money you previously posted was a "WOW" number, but it wasn't when I broke it down to yearly. I mean 20k a year, that's poverty line, and he does have to pay the bills you spoke of. So where does your argument go now?
rileyrat77 1 month ago
@rileyrat77
I didn't duck anything. Every point you think you have I address. And you think saving 20k a year is nothing? Saving....not making. That means after all your bills and expenses, 401k, Insurance, etc.....saving 20k a year is nothing? lol
Curveball 1 month ago
@rileyrat77 As for the GTR getting beat by the Civics. To be honest I sited the article, the subject of the article is the owner of the GTR. He was inspired to build a K swapped 96 HB because of how badly the FF guys were beating him...his words, not mine.
Instead of simply stating "Come on man... read the article, or hell look up track times. The full info on the article mentioned: Honda Tuning, September 2011 - "2001 Honda S2000 and 1996 Honda Civic CX - Grown Folks’ Toys
rileyrat77 2 months ago
@rileyrat77
Curveball 2 months ago
@Curveball So what defines a "real" race course now? please, as we are now using self defined definitions to prove our points let the rest of us in on it. VIR, one of the tacks a Civic currently holds the FF record on, and it did it on the full course set-up or 3.27 miles.
rileyrat77 2 months ago
@rileyrat77
Do you even know what FF means? Is a Porsche 911 an FF car? Is a Corvette? Is a Viper? Is an R35 GTR? So why are you bringing up FF records? That is irrelevant.
Curveball 1 month ago
@Curveball Because the current FF record bests anything the GTR has put down to date.
rileyrat77 1 month ago
@Curveball Honestly, you are such a try hard. You should bow out now as you can't even seem to follow the conversation properly. I mean look above to where you have taken it, trying so hard to find an area where you might know more than I. I can tell you that after paying 75k+ for a GTR and pumping another 30-40k into various performance mods a race team was able to best the HART Civic by 3 seconds...So at 3x the cost they got em by 3 seconds.
rileyrat77 1 month ago
@rileyrat77

This is much the same as when a Lotus runs up on a Viper.
rileyrat77 7 months ago
@rileyrat77 240 hp is pretty good for a fwd 1500lb car, and more hp and the wheels would just spin in every gear.
kyleisreallycool 2 months ago
@kyleisreallycool more like 2,000lbs. The weight removed is usually added back in via safety equipment. It's pretty common for this era of Civic to push 275whp at the track and still do just fine in the traction department, this isn't Gran Turismo on the PS2 where it's all or nothing.

@MrAlexdive it doesnt matter who you're speaking to. but if you must know, my actual job title is an Aviation Maintenance Technician in the military. ive driven hondas over 11 years. i know what they can do. and if its a honda 1.6L, its DEFINITELY capable of 500hp or more. theres plenty of videos on youtube of a 99-00 Si that comes with a B16, making over 500hp. its boosted, but it can happen as a 1.6. not to be an ass, but i think you have some more learning to do.
joescivic 8 months ago
@joescivic I think I told you, with techicals explanations why it could be. If you cann't understand it's ok!
MrAlexdive 8 months ago
@MrAlexdive no it doesnt. the 1.6 is still revving to its stock limits. which is 8000, and some people just take it to about 8600. you can make 500hp on a boosted 1.6 without having to rev so high. its ok, we know you dont know hondas. stick to whatever it is you think you might know.
joescivic 8 months ago
@joescivic can you expalin to me how is that possimple to produse a 1.6l about 50Kgm and the ford gt about 6L 70? because with the 8000rpm that;s the torque. it cann't be. Is just engineering laws. which you do not know.
MrAlexdive 8 months ago
@MrAlexdive nevermind im done with you. you clearly dont know much. theres plenty of videos to back it up on youtube. and get yourself a honda with a 1.6L in it, and boost it without making the displacement bigger. come back when you do. i know im right.

@joescivic First: I'm not a boy i'm older than you. Second: Do you speak Greek? I do not think so. Third: Do you have engineering university education? Νο. MrAlexdive 8 months ago
1.6 can DEFINITELY make 500hp. it can DEFINITELY make more too
joescivic 8 months ago
@joescivic agreed. especially motorcycle engines. A turbo 1 litre motorcycle engine can make 500 hp too. and that's about as small as engine's get on street legal machines. Loads of those videos on youtube
Bischlarbo69 8 months ago
@joescivic 1.6 and 1.8 blocks are not designed to handle too much torque... about over 38Kgm.
MrAlexdive 8 months ago
@MrAlexdive and just to add, since you also said 1.8. how about 1.9? theres a 1000+hp civic at the shop down the street with a b18c1 motor which is a 1.8. he made it a 1.9L and it has over 1000hp.

@MrAlexdive your english sucks, so its hard to take you serious, boy. i know what im talking about. and a 1.6 can have 500hp without revving so high. you're a waste of time. theres no need to explain anything
joescivic 8 months ago
@joescivic That machines you send me, is waste of money. because all these is a matter of time to broke up. Because works with much force from that are able to handle in some space of time. Are 100% sure that an engine 1.6 with over 40Kgm is gonna brake. Just matter of time. When a overboosted machine approach the limit of the work "circlus", then will brake. Some machines brake during the dyno. There are a lot of these videos. There are limits in engineerning, which you do not know.

@MrAlexdive you keep assuming i know nothing. i already proved they can make well over 500hp. my friends integra that is over 500hp has been running for a long time. yes, they have limits, numb nuts. stop trying to come back at me like im wrong about something. ive been right the whole time, and just proved you wrong on what you said. now you come back to ASSUME i didnt know they have a limit. but 500hp is very reliable if you know how to take care of your car.
joescivic 8 months ago
@joescivic You know basically ANY car can be 500hp+? The only people that TRULY like civics are fanboys. I race autox and drive a 92 MX5, all the civics here in orlando get CREAMED cause they're SHIT. Fwd? what a joke.
hardcoreblowsbigones 8 months ago

It's their money.
nis915 8 months ago
@nis915 neither do I understand what you trying to say. I just said, there are limits for how much let an engine, to handle extra power. Over these boundries, machine will fall. The limits allow about 3 or 3,5 times more power from the starting desing point. many engines crashed becaue overodose exceed the safety limits of an engine.
MrAlexdive 8 months ago
@MrAlexdive I agree a smaller engine will make less power while still remaining reliable than a bigger engine. It's common sense since you will probably have half of the volume to effectively burn the fuel. But I believe you are pulling numbers out of your ass. And I'm two classes away from a BS in ME.
nis915 8 months ago

MrAlexdive 8 months ago
@joescivic there is a something else. you say 500Hp from 1.6. Ok! but if it makes it at 11000rpm, it doesn't say nothing to me. that not counds. because the torque is still low. everything is torque.
MrAlexdive 8 months ago
@joescivic man it was funny. because I searched.. and quess what? I found two civics (dyno test). the first makes 500Hp with 2.0l engine and the second 760hp, with 2.2 L engine. Try to find a dyno 1.6l with 500Hp. just there isn't.

@Thorexthx its called excellaration tard
TheKj2131 8 months ago
@Thorexthx this hatch is about 2200-2300lbs from the factory on an empty tank. we dont know if it was gutted for the track or not either, but i will assume it has been a bit gutted. now, watch "k24 99 civic si reving it up 2". its a 99 Si coupe, full interior, which from the factory, and its original 1.6 motor weighed 2613lbs. so its possible its heavier. he dynoed 217whp (i can vouch for this car). watch his speedo, and realize, he has a much heavier car, and only dynoed 217whp.
joescivic 8 months ago
@Thorexthx also, watch "My K24a2 EM1" its another full interior EM1, but he made 230whp. yeah its wheel HP. different than BHP or crank HP. watch how his car accelerates on his speedo.
joescivic 8 months ago
ya..... 700hp is nice....... in a straight line lmao, power to weight ratio guys power to weight :)!
Evilenigma1986 9 months ago
@Evilenigma1986 this is actually more about driver skill then car. GT is actually built for the track, and can smoke the civic easily. Driver just doesnt push it and doesnt know how to race.
kwhitley125 9 months ago 22
@kwhitley125 lets not forget the gt is worth more than the civic so why push it too hard and smack up.
h22sparkle 7 months ago
stock ford gts come with 550 hp. not 700. and you got to love a hot honda!!!
lucasrod37 9 months ago
Wait..people are actually arguing that the civic is faster than the GT, wow lol
derekf100 9 months ago 23
@derekf100 maybe is faster at the corners ;)

@derekf100 I agree...the gt driver let the guy pass.

doesnt seem to me that the gt was giving any beans when it came close to a corner lol. civic was just doing a good job at driving

hp to weight ratios dumbass
p4ssthat 9 months ago
240 hp my ass... theirs no way ...or the forg gt couldnt drive for shit.....if the owner of the civic was smart he wouldnt be driving a civic!!!!!............ a real track horsepower race is 1000hp ford gt vs 1000hp supra.....<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< thats a real race with 2 people that know how to drive real cars!!
2005diana2005 9 months ago
@2005diana2005 no, thats a real drag race, or one that should be held on the sarthe track. A civic is a perfect car for a track like this, very balanced and very light, and driven by a driver like this guy possible to take the best lines while driving full out. Granted the gt driver wasn't that good, but it's also not easy to handle high horsepower on a track with so much level change. can't go full out often with a car like that on a track like that.
purgatory13z 9 months ago
why cant people understand horse power doesnt make a car faster?its al about balance and power to weight ratio.. the gt is heavy with power.. the civic isnt heavy with a decent amount of power. if only people would watch some INITIAL D they would understand better. haha, talk to any professional racer and they will tell you balance, tuning, brakes and suspension are more important than power. the civic brakes later than the gt, it accelerates earlier than the gt, and corners quicker than the gt.
nkballa54 9 months ago 2
@nkballa54 so back in 2005 why shouldnt have honda raced the little civics? ill answer, the ford gt is mostly aluminum and fiberglass and if you had someone that knew how to drive one it is the fastest mid engine rear whell drive car

see on the straights there ain't shit that vtec can do to close the gap.
GT just got tired pulled to the right side, civic was no match on the stretches, barely on the turns

XxPBFLxX 9 months ago
@XxPBFLxX I"m baffled that you didn't notice that a honda civic with 240 hp just smoked a ford gt w/700 hp. You also notice how much faster that civic was driving after he passed the GT. I don't need your enlightenment, you just need to know cars.
TheScomil1 9 months ago
@TheScomil1 seriously? Did you say smoked?! Watch the video again. Think about what your saying! A 240 hp power car with roughly 220ft/lbs of torque is going "smoke" a 700 hp roughly 600ft/lbs of torque, GT. Numbers don't lie. As far as knowing cars goes, I'm confident in saying that GT let that "civic" pass him.
XxPBFLxX 9 months ago
@XxPBFLxX Why don't you read the orginal post. .Let me copy and paste the first sentence for you.......Looks like somebody needs to learn how to drive a Ford GT. You are right but you don't know how to read. The person driving the Ford GT doesn't know how to drive it. He should have smoked the civic. The fact the civic kept up in the first place tells me that the driver of the GT doesn't know how to drive. The fact that you are arguing with me tells me you don't know how to read
