    Wiicked.

  • beyond the lyrics and fresh metallic beat.... the beauty in their extended handshake at the end is truly, truly moving.

  • Any1 got lyrics for this shit?

  • This movie came out in what the late 90's? The cat w/the kufi said, "you should've neva fucked w/a nigga from the "base". Al Qaeda=base.

My plans had plans for me ! Aint that the truth.

This was a deep ass movie. I had it but loaned it out and never got it back. Marion Barry is in it as a Judge. Saul Williams has juice in this movie as a poet; that even the baddest gangstas love and respect him for. I wish I still had the movie. It was real. But thanks for this clip

Prejudice was genetically and especially holographically imprinted into most cultures, but there is therefore no wonder you would want people who got only pot on them to go to prison. Reclaim your heart and your mind through free thought and free flow.

  • Actually, he says: "We are lookin' out, son" and not "Good lookin' out, son".

  • THERES AN EMCEE ON THE BUS !!!!!!!

  • yeah lol

  • lololo

  • @eerawb hahhahahahaha

  • deep shit. two totally different wavelegnths, saul isnt contained with cliche 'bust a cap, sling my rocks' shit.not so much trying to impress as he is speaking his heart.first time i saw this was the day after i got busted 'selling' weed in school actually.

  • Damn. What happened to you after that?

  • dang i liked that......

  • speak it.

  • Great movie.

  • plz what is the name of the movie

  • power of words

  • dope

  • hahahaha "good lookin out son" is inaudible

  • this was a low budget but real good movie if you follow the story u wont worry about the quality. Based in D.C. not rikers island

  • plz what is the name of the movie

  • I had to really go through something negative to understand and appreciate the positives in this movie....When I saw it, i was blown away!!!!Saul williams is an extremely talented individual, and im grateful for that piece of art called "Slam"

  • majority of these dudes was D.C jail inmates

  • haha, "good lookin out son" was inaudible

  • plz what is the name of the movie

  • @mouniradio slam

  • Slam is the name of the movie. Personally, I don't find it very good, but it has some amazing scenes.

  • amazing..

  • That was the point. (of this video at least). The guy that was throwing bad lyrics in this one, that was the point. Saul was not talking about bustin your ass or anything, he was talking about being great by helping others in a way, the other guy was talking about being great by hurting others. I think he was trying to show that black culture is speaking his language (poetry) but they don't understand what he's saying. So he wants to connect with them on their level.

  • Pancakes..

  • It was also showing that you dont need to use all of those swears in poems and raps to still make some awesome art. The other man was just swearing everyother word because he could not think of anything better. Then Saul come in and tears it up with only one or two swears. If you like slam poetry like this I recomend Bo Sai.

  • Oh, my bad it's Beau Sia not Bo Sai

  • This sequence had absolutely nothing to do with who had the larger vocabulary, wilder imagination, could 'Slam',or whatever.

It's poinant because it's simply 2 brothas of probably substantially different experiences, feeding off of each other in an attempt to cope in the moment.

Personally,I respect cats who freestlye, regardless of what their talking about,as long as it comes from the heart,as opposed to someone trying to wow you with some contrived nonsense.

  • Couldn't have said it better bro.

  • Thank you.

  • @thirdshift47 Yea but man how many times does he use the word Fuck for a filler?

  • That's why they call it 'freestyle',money;it an't a fuckin' battle.LOL

  • @thirdshift47 Its a movie though so i just think they had the one guy spit wack rymes to make saul look good.

  • @thirdshift47 right fuck talent overshadowin inspiration.....just go in

  • You said it.

  • @thirdshift47 couldn't have said it any better man

  • @thirdshift47 agreed

  • @thirdshift47

I think the point is that even though they are vastly different in style and topic, they appreciate each others talent and they are brought together by this really simple thing that was accomplished with a hairbrush and a sharp mind.

  • @thirdshift47 They used both of these radically different styles to emphasize the differences between Saul's character and the non-transcendent mind of the gang-banger in the cell next to him, but ultimately reflected the tight bondage between the two artistically expressive characters with the handshake in the end.

  • its not about the swearing exactly lyk tha otha guys said its mostly showing how 2 different type of rapping is used and how both have their affect

  • WELL PUT...I AGREE...LOVED THE MOVIE

  • THAT WAS THAT REAL

  • unit and keep it tight

  • hes such a genius.

  • aint dude a real inmate the 1 with the glasses

  • I been looking for this for the longest! Thanks for uploading this.

  • well i am happy to hear you found it here

i could not find the clip anywhere that is why i made the vid

  • i hate the others guys rap...awful. if only it was all like sauls. i dont care how many times you can fit 'motherfucker' into a sentence or who you shot in the gut.

  • I agree, I do believe he was an actual inmate and this was a "freestyle".

Examine the styles of one vs. the other. One stuck in his "mental" cell can only think of the small world that surrounds him, being tough, selling drugs, cash, and gangs.

The other starts out speaking of the stars and whats beyond,he's saying listen to me..."I got the formula. throw me in the sky and I'll warm ya." my interpretation is: Look up to me and I will show you that you don't need to be so "cold".Character count is out

  • I haven't seen the movie, but I think the other guy was talking about what happened to him in the military. I THINK. I'm just stating my interpretation.

  • yeah, studied this movie in school....

    he's a real life inmate...

    definitely not Saul Williams...

  • "Lessons more ancient than Greece."

    Damn.

  • good looking out son = inaudible? lol

  • It's clearly audible to me.

  • I love this, i have to get the movie now

  • not blocked down but bucked down

  • Youngin that starts off rapping along side of saul williams was really locked down. He was featured in a real life documentary for a brief moment doing the exact same thing hes doing here in this clip. The doc is called something along the lines of "Thug life in DC"

It was produced by HBO I believe, and about a young guy that goes from juvinile to adult prison.

  • amazing scene

  • wre can iwatch tho=is movie full

  • The subtitles are wrong in most parts... at the end.. when it sais inaudible.. who in the world can't understand him... "Good lookin out son"

  • Meh, dumb subtitlers

  • lol yeah i know but the subs just came with the torrent

  • this shit is sick

  • hot fire

  • " the water and sea be the essence of me" love it! BAM!

  • dis movie is duh shits i watched in skool was bad dame we still gotah finish it tomorrow love dis movie

  • Once McCain said: "... job loss, failing schools... " This video is relevant and will be for years.

  • "Good lookin' out, son."

  • FUCKIN' mind blowing!

  • The prison scenes are definitely the dopest part of the movie, I believe it's all really shot on Riker's Island. The warden is great.

  • haha "(inaudible)". whoever transcribed it didn't hear him say "good lookin' out son"

  • Who is the other rapper?

  • The other rapper was a real inmate when they were shooting (on Riker's Island), his rhymes were unscripted. Saul Williams is John the Boom-Baptist, prophesizing in the wilderness.

  • that was ill as fuck..

  • The word 'fuck' has a meaning... You've utlized the meaning of it well.

  • saul williams equals one of the best artists out there

  • were can i see this movie?

  • i downloaded it through a torrent site

so if you use torrents you can get it

    otherwise i dont know how

  • yo wen did this movie get released ?

  • It was a while back. I got it recently from Borders, so you can go there if you want to buy it. It was like $10 or $15

  • ite cool yo thnks for replyin init

  • man this move is real good, these rhymes are sick, thanks nice vid
