Hawking was expecting to get a Nobel prize if they did produce a black hole. It's amusing that making a tiny black hole that instantly decays is made to be such a dramatic, scary possibility. For example in 2008 before the LHC ran there were 31777 recorded earthquakes and in 2010 while the LHC was running there were 21545 recorded earthquakes.
The big year for large earthquakes was 2007 with 4 magnitude 8+ where as there was just one magnitude 8+ in 2010.

Religion makes physics more beautiful to me. Because the actual lists of recorded earthquakes don't seem to show that.
For example in 2008 before the LHC ran there were 31777 recorded earthquakes and in 2010 while the LHC was running there were 21545 recorded earthquakes.
The big year for large earthquakes was 2007 with 4 magnitude 8+ where as there was just one magnitude 8+ in 2010.

Well at the minute this vid has 1220 likes and 71 dislikes, so you could maybe take a little heart from that. The stoopids who think they don't like science (mainly because it doesn't support their pet ideology/religion) haven't actually thought it through. Maybe they're unable to. And anyway, even if they discovered a universal truth, it still wouldn't be a universal truth (epistemology rules that out.) It wouldn't demonstrate any moral truth, and would probably indicate some type of omniverse, so...

@philnoll If there is indeed an omniverse, then not only is everything permissible, but everything is inevitable. Plenty of Utopian universes exist, so our particular universe is not so important after all. This is a dangerous idea, and it doesn't reflect any moral truth that we have observed thus far. Even if we did observe alternate universes, it should not indicate anything about how we live our lives.

"they" didn't say that they'd make a black hole that will devour the Universe. Even if the LHC makes a black hole, it will instantly evaporate. The LHC is not doing anything that nature doesn't do. Particle collisions much more powerful happen in the atmosphere all the time from cosmic rays.
Also science doesn't deal with philosophical truth or claim to 'prove' anything 100%. But hey, enjoy your straw man, helps you argue against what nobody is actually saying eh.

Just saying that no experiment could prove OR disprove the existence of God, because in the end, any scientific theory or fact relies on a few basic starting assumptions.
If we are living in a virtual universe for instance, all logical conclusions would be irrelevant in regard to the true nature of reality.

Hmm...I dunno about being torn. There definitely is an infinity at the singularity, well that's what a singularity is lol. But it doesn't represent anything physical, it's a pathology in your equations. What's physical is the event horizon, where light can't escape. Beyond this point our theories start to break down and you get all sorts of weird things happening! Anyways, when you have no spacetime to write your equations on then you don't have anything.

The amount of dense matter to create a black hole is roughly equal to 30 million times that of the earth.Remember dense matter is required to stretch the fabric of space.Therefore the conclusion in the video is correct!.Any other theory is unacceptable.Alsa this is a complete waste of a trillion dollars,pluse the amount energy used for power is roughly the same as a small city would use.

The Higgs Boson (the indivisible particle named after Peter Higgs) is suppose to impart mass on other particles. As I take it the Higgs Boson is suppose to answer the underlying question of why matter is solid. Considering that with any solid object like for example a rock there are vast regions of space dotted by discrete regions of atoms, the HB somehow ties atoms together to form the a solid rock.

@Videos4USArmy protons AND iron nuclei - this is but a TINY TINY fraction of total human effort and it will open up futures that you cannot even imagine. Imagine the progress in medicine alone as a result of these technologies (X-rays, MRI, fMRI, CAT, PET, cancer irradiation, radiopharmaceuticals). Probably several people you know will have their lives saved at some point by one of these technologies.
And the cost was about 1/40,000th the spending on military over that period

Its most likely the much faster you move, the less time you feel. Like if you will be move with 0,5 speed of light your 1 sec will be like 2 real sec; 0,75 speed of light 1 sec (feel by vesel) -> 4 real sec... if some how you will be reach speed of light, from you view you will be instant move to every place in universe...
