  • Hows the black aluminum holding up? Showing scratches etc. Reallly considering this knife. I think the looks are just A+

  • @ThePhilapplication I have only carried it a few times, never used so I wouldn't know :( Sorry.

  • Дорогонах!

  • @Libertan01 I dont understand but thank you.

  • @oromoto It says F..in expensive!

  • @xtrajently Not cheap...

  • @xtrajently Thanks for translate.

  • Sweet. I have the ordinary 890-Torrent. I was undecided for a long time on this one, because of the single-sided thumb stud. Usually a deal breaker for me. I work w/ 2 hands, and so must my tools. But I really love the design on this one, and have been very happy with it in use. Congrats on scoring that excellent price for the Gold Class version! Hope you do EDC it for a while, I think it will grow on you even more. It "wants" to be a user, not a safe queen!

  • @MumblinBerk I do carry it occasionally as second knife in my left pocket :)

  • That is a beautiful knife there, but I would rather enter a fight with a boker subcom than with that knife lol in my opinion the handle design is just not right for fighting.

  • @thelockkk Well, this is more of a gentleman's tactical folder. I'd use it as a back up since it is very light and low ride.

  • The Knifeworks price is indeed acceptable. I have a regular Torrent, and don't have a problem drawing it. But I think of it more as a gentleman's folder than a tactical folder. Besides, if I am going for fast deployment, I'd reach for an Emerson. :)

  • @experimentjon It is very elegant for sure, a bit too long for Gent's folder to me though. I'd like to use this one as backup defensive folder :) But that's just me! Emerson's wave is useless when you are sitting, crouching, rolling, running, face down on the floor or with a torn pocket corner. On top of that, I can only deploy 80 times out of a 100 not under stress. I know I am dumb...

  • @inomurasensei Merci pour regarder! Frère de France! Ne vous venez de l'amour Google Translate? :)

  • you got that baby for a good price. but when you hover around 500 bucks there is a ton of competition. even some custom knives in the running. but for 250 a good deal. great materialson this torrent. do you know if the regular torrents blade was that thin or did they just make this one thin because of the super expensive steel?

  • @PavlovSandor Hey Bro! The regular torrent is that thin also, they have the same specs except that this one is a 0.2 oz heavier. The extremely thin blade really makes slicing, cutting stabbing easier. Just don't pry!

  • Hey oromoto, do you want to trade your Gold Class Torrent for my LNIB Gold Class Griptilian?

  • @rororo64 Thank you for the offer, but I really love this Torrent :) Besides I already have a regular Griptilian.

  • That sure is one pretty BM. It's silly but I love the magnetic closure on the Gold class boxes :D

  • @1AbominAble1 Not silly, I love it too! It has that hydraulic feel :)

  • By the way, all liner lock Benchmades are equipped for tip down carry only. You can check this for yourself, but I saw a Benchmade representative state this. They claim it is for safety reasons, but I think the argument is bad for a few reasons I can't get into in a short 500 character comment.

  • @mindsmirror I can understand why they use tip down. Because it is assisted, and in a tip up mode it might open in your hand and you might drop it. Less likely in a tip down grip when you pull it out even if it deploys accidentally.

  • Comment removed

  • @oromoto Also, ALL liner lock Benchmades, assisted or not, are tip down carry only. Seriously, try to find any liner lock from Benchmade that is capable of tip up carry out of the box. The argument they use is not that the knife is assisted and therefore needs to be tip down. They offer assisted openers that are tip up carry, which makes more sense because the blade is trapped in the corner of your pocket rather than being free to open and stab into your leg like it is when tip down.

  • @oromoto The assisted opening version of the Rukus was tip up carry. It's an axis lock, which is why it's tip up, the assist has nothing to do with their decision oddly enough. While the Dejavoo and Mini-Dejavoo (Both non-assisted) are tip down carry only simply because they're liner locks. Same with the model you have. Liner lock with Benchmade means it will be tip down only.

  • @mindsmirror Well, the only reason I can think of is that they don't have a good detent. That's why it is safer tip down for their liner locks. Because of the gravity force, when tip up, and no good detent the blade might open accidentally. But really, I think it is BS...

  • I've never seen a BM gold class in the flesh, what do you think of the fit and finish? There have been some designs I've liked but I've always held off because I thought "Hey, for this money I could buy a true handmade custom." Are the blades hand ground for instance?

  • @An0nEeMouse Fit and finish is A+, nothing wrong on the FF that bugs me. Not sure on the hand ground blade, but at $250 it is almost impossible to find a good custom folder. Thanks!

  • @oromoto Oh right I didn't realize they were that cheap. I thought they were like $500.

  • @An0nEeMouse Yeah, there's pretty much no way this knife is hand ground, but the quality should be pretty good. Whether or not to buy a custom instead is purely personal preference, but as oromoto said, this one is significantly less than a custom folder. I'd say the average, basic hand ground custom folder tends to start out at $550. But many of the Gold Class knives are easily that expensive, or close enough to warrant simply saving an extra $100. Also consider a Chris Reeve knife. :)

  • Great score on the awesome blade......your collection is out of this world!!!

  • @Rudemustang1 Thanks for watching bro!

  • Can you put it in the goldclass case with the blade opened?

  • Yes you can :)

  • That's a gorgeous knife, especially the blue TI liners! Great catch man!

  • @Halfmoon67 Thanks for watching!

  • That is beautiful man. I like the G10 of the Torrent and I may have to pick this one up. I'm not a huge fan of BM anymore but this one is really nice. I wish it had dual thumbstuds like the G10 version. Thanks for the review!

  • @darkchild57 Dual thumbsud is not possible in this one because the liner lock will be on the way. Thanks for watching bro! I think this one is worth picking up at the price I mentioned.

  • ha in the card is said the steel was M390, is it a different way of saying 154cm??

  • @slipknotdemiichele m390 is a new "super steel" that performs similar if not better than s30v. also fairly rust resistant

  • @shummyshum really wow. thats pretty cool, thanks for the info. !

  • @slipknotdemiichele M390 is one hard steel, usually in 62 compared to most 58-59 Rockwell Hardness.

  • Very nice. I like the Torrent a lot. This one kicks arse

  • @johnwoodz1220 Thanks for watching!
