I can sympathise with your disgust, but you can't blame the US public entirely. You saw the video. It's media sources like Chris Matthews that provide the information for the vast majority of people. Gravel didn't stand a chance because he was never given much time in the debates, in the news or elsewhere in the mainstream media. Most Americans probably don't know who he is because of that. How can people be expected to make informed choices if they are ill-informed?

Chris Matthews, you will RUE THE DAY you laughed at Senator Gravel because HE SPOKE THE TRUTH! There you have it folks, our entire three tier political system exposed for its incompetence in the grand sum of six minutes. And this news anchor laughs it off because he's a whore to the media that cuts his paycheck.
That anchor can fuck himself. Who the fuck does he think he is? Since when is it the nature of his job to laugh loudly and shamelessly at presidential candidates? He should be fuckin' beaten.

Actually he does. That's what's sad about our world. He's actually speaking the truth. He just doesn't say it in a pretty, eloquent, smooth-talking, slick way.
Majority of congress gave the president approval to go to war in the first place, and this guy wants to put all the blame on the president. I mean is he stupid? The shit that comes out of this guys mouth makes my head spin. Liberals need to grow a brain and wise up if they ever want to win an election. People are not stupid they know the difference between something that ACTUALLY POSSIBLE from something that a candidate says just for political points with their base.
Why are you so hostile? I didn't respond to you with any hostility at all.
It's true. The majority of congress gave the approval. But Gravel has relentlessly criticized Congress. Even Democrats. Fact is, President Bush did mislead everyone. He said there was a connection between 9/11 and Iraq. There was none. He said there were WMDs. There were none. And so finally he says that the Iraqis need to be liberated. This is manipulative. He's responsible and he actually should stand trial for it.
One comment taken out of a 6 minute video proves Gravel puts the blame solely on the president? I know you can reason better than that. Listen to the video. The blame is (rightfully) placed on congress and others as well.
Why do you keep telling me to watch the video? Just because I draw a different conclusion doesn't mean that watching that brain fuck of a person again will make it all better. He wants to criminally charge the president and NOT the congress that approved the bill in the first place, or the think tanks and non-partisan organizations that ignored facts about the WMDs. This is just some bull shit that he's throwing out of his ass and people like you eat it up. Why don't you watch the video again.
It's not a matter of conclusion or opinion. Your statement in factually inaccurate. You can see this for yourself by watching the video. You said he blames only the president -- yet he clearly places the blame on congress and others in this video,
There's a difference between criticism and blame. He criticized congress for playing "politics as usual" and not calling out the president on his foreign policy; he blamed the president by asking that congress "prosecute him criminally." You have a serious lack of basic comprehension skills there buddy.
I'm done with you. If after two comments you still don't get what I'm conveying then you're just playing games with me, and I don't have time to argue with someone who wants to turn my opinion into a joke. I carefully laid out my reasoning to you; if you can't show me the decency to even acknowledge my argument without resorting to fallacious dismissals, then I wont give you the benefit of a retort.
"this guy wants to put all the blame on the president. I mean is he stupid?"
You were using a strawman on Gravel & these guys nailed you.
"Also, you don't need ( ) around "rightfully" you fucking idiot."
His use of parentheses was correct. He didn't wish to call into question the concept of "rightfulness". He wanted to add the fact of "righfulness"; PARENTHETICALLY.
He doesn't need me to defend him of course. I just thought it was funny...you calling HIM the fucking idiot.
LOL! Kid next time you want to play debate cop actually know what you're talking about before hand. Also, you dont need a ";" after rightfulness; FRAGMENTS.
Gravel uses Bush as the straw man which was my point. He puts all the blame on him by asking that he get charged criminally. Gravel uses Bush because hes an easy target. The man is using a stunt to get attention.
Also, the reason he doesn't need () around rightfully is because without the word the sentence is incomplete.
Ha! You're the cop, you raging asshole. Getting past your monitoring of everyone's writing;;; you'll never back down from your overstatement I guess, but where does the buck stop? Bush is the MOST responsible for the debacle.
Do you know the difference between a "scapegoat" & a "straw man", kid? And again, this is an informal discussion. We've all had spelling, syntax & punctuation errors (you're the only one calling childish names over them), he meant to say: "The blame WAS placed on Congress and others as well." A complete sentence countering your false assertion that Gravel put all the blame on Bush. He wished to add parenthetically that he thinks it is correct to blame Congress as well.
You're also partially right in your argument. If three men rob a bank and I only put one in jail for the entire crime; that is scapegoat. Which is what Gravel is doing in my opinion, but he's following a trend I see on the left. It seems to me that a lot of democrats blame all our problems on Bush, or at least would like to. However, the world isn't so two dimensional, and some of the blame belongs to congress and democrats.
I don't trust anyone who says they're going to do anything for me. He's a leftie which means he's a socialist so he's not my cup of tea. Lefties have a right to pick the kind of society they want though. The only way for you & them & me to get along in one country is through Jeffersonian Federalism. Different flavoured states, community standards rule, the 9th & 10th Amendments. Gravel wants National Referendums. Straight Democracy is just about the worst form of government.
Perhaps not here & now with how far we've gone down the socialist road to destruction. But America DID pretty much have the system I describe, it's the cause of all of America's former (dissipating) greatness. That is a fact & when it really gets bad around here there is a chance people will pull their heads out of their asses. If you believe otherwise there is no point in you fighting over which kind of collapse we shall have a Fascist flavoured one (McCain) or a Communist flavoured one (Obama)
Also, this "never" attitude on the part of citizens is perhaps the main reason we may be fucked. I don't know how many people I talked to said, "Ron Paul is great, but he'll never win". This is State training. Like the baby elephant that is staked to the ground.
Disgusting interview by both men. They gang up on one of the few truly qualified candidates in this race. Meanwhile, on other occasions, they're kissing Barack Obama's ass every chance they get. They fight back against anyone who criticizes them, but they don't have the balls to hold HIM accountable for his faults. Even I have some disagreements with Mike Gravel, and I'm not afraid to say it.
But this Matthews and Olbermann are some of the most partisan media people in America.
Hey Chris Mathews, You need to put the crack pipe down and wake up. Your country is being fucked over by idiots. For one thing 9/11 was an inside/outside job. Just look at all the physical, circumstantial, & coincidental evidence. Hard to believe, but our government has been attacked by a wasp. The wasp larva is eating our nation from the inside out. What kind of President, in his right mind, would advocate giving up our liberties for security? Then there is the corruption of elections.
Why do major media corporations keep hiring idiots to be their anchors and pundits? Mike Grave simply stated that if Democrats clearly fought Republicans and made Bush veto bills that most Americans agreed with, Americans would see that the Bush administration was against their interests. Mathews laughed during these remarks. Why? Because Gravel has an idiosyncratic way of speaking. Meanwhile, I just saw an interview he had with Anne Coulter where he gave her much more respect. Silly!!
Kiss my ass, Matthews, you dipshit! You refused to hold McCain accountable in that "college tour" interview, and yet you give Mike Gravel a hard time when he's probably from the same party as you?? You people in corporate media make me sick! You manipulate elections and lie to the people and give the right candidates the hardest time, rather than holding Obama accountable. Forget this Reverend Wright bs. That's not accountability; it's triviality. Ask him the tough questions.
two obama aids are hosting this show to try and make him look stupid but he stepped up to their challenge and you can see how ignorant they are.... I would choose gravel for president. I dont beleive anyone in this country has choosen our president sense JFK's assasination because honest presidents stand in the way of this coountry taking over the world.
I LOVE satellite delays! Already awkward silences are made even more uncomfortable. I love Gravel's "Does that answer your question?" look and then the few second delay.
BWHAHAHAHAHAHA, CHRIS MATHEWS, YOU STUPID IGNORANT SPEC OF FUCKING DIRT WITH A MEGAPHONE.
Chris- "how can pass a law if the president wont sign it"
dear god man read the constitution, spouting that shit to the American public. if i saw chris mathews in public i might just take a thumb tac and stick copy of the constitution in his head, then repeatedly punch him in the forehead.
had to get that out, we need old school news back... *sigh*
If Gravel truly has the best foreign policy judgment (as he claims), it is inexcusable for him to just "hide under a rock" for the past 30 years and deny the American people the benefit of his leadership.
Where was he during Iran Contra, Mogadishu, and Gulf War I?
whoa, hiding under a rock? poor guy doesn't get any media coverage and no one knows who he is. he virtually ended the vietnam war himself. and now that he's running for president, I bet the majority of the US would vote for him-- if they knew he existed. He is by far the only qualified candidate in this entire race- democrat or republican.

Gravel is a good man, but is not in the same league as Obama and Hillary. It's unrealistic for him to think he can get a 2/3 majority to charge the President with a felony. It's fair for him to say that the media didn't call Hillary out for not taking a firm stance on the war. But, to Chris' point, Gravel also has a duty to hold his Democratic colleagues in the Senate.
yes the guy that practically single handedly ended the draft and got us out of viet nam isn't nearly in the same league of corruption as hillary and obama, both of which are among the top 10 most corrupt politicians in the country (judicial watch)

Mike Gravel says Hillary and Barack won't rock the boat on Bush's war. Well' that's just fine, but I see Mike rocking the boat all of the time 'and he's at the bottom of the pack'. So what does that' say about rocking a boat?
They are afraid of Gravel cause he brings big change and exposes the corruption. This is why they gave Gravel less time to speak. This is why they banned Gravel from the other debates cause he exposed Clinton for voting for the Liberman Kyle amendment that causes us to go to war with Iran. Mike Gravel is the seasoned warrior expert in stopping wars which certain societies do not want to see. If you want big change vote for Mike Gravel.

Mike Huckabee, McCain or Giuliani are the only candidates who could face & fight countries like Iran, North Korea and Russia ! but most of U Americans don't get that, because part of you still believes in "Peace", well let me tell you something: in our days - Peace is a Fiction ! Don't you see what Muslims are doing? Killing, Suicide Bombings...! In about 20-25 years the world would be totally dominated by Muslims, do u want that to happen? ! No ! So vote for a Republican (Except Ron Paul) !
"Don't you see what muslims are doing"? Don't YOU see what AMERICANS are doing? What makes our killing more justified than theirs? And since when is Russia our enemy -the 60's are long gone.
lol you need to get out more and actually realize why they're doing what they're doing. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. They need a motive to do what they're doing. I have had people from those areas actually tell me why they're doing it and it's good reasons too.

Cmon people we need to fight for our country. Its guys like Gravel and Paul that are sticking their necks out to give us truth and freedom. True patriots we need Paul/Gravel 08.
everything I've seen and heard about this guy is truly amazing.. i literally get goose bumps sometimes when i hear him speak. So many people that interview him try to stomp him and make him look bad, and every time Gravel comes out on top. He speaks the truth, and you cant argue with that
Man wouldnt it be great if Gravel and Kucinich joined forces? One doesnt have to lose for the other will win. The world needs Gravel, Kucinich, Ron Paul and maybe Bloomberg in the same government. They will get assassinated ofc by the military-industrial complex and they will make it look like someone else did it but this is the only way we might wake up and join these 4 and fight for our liberties.
well he is smart on defense, but he's very clued up on economics too, kucinich is right when he says that Americans are already paying for universal healthcare but aren't getting it, but the way I see it, America needs a pretty brutal reality check very soon, you guys have got to cut spending right back to the bone, after that if healthcare is still on the agenda then great, even if it's more expensive because of govt. involvement.
RP wants to transition to free market HC, the key word is transition, so if kucinich has a better more efficient way for government to do it, RP would be for it, and would pay for it by drastically cutting foreign/military/drug war spending.
yer the thing is socialised healthcare is a monopoly and the pharmaceutical companies will run it even if it is "government owned" coz they're in bed together
as you can see i have criticisms of both right and left wing policies :/
i know but i don't like free market economics because it means people are allowed to own as much propery as they want and charge people rent (ie. enslave other people so they don't have to serve society)
or own as much stocks and shares as they want so they get dividends for doing no work, while the wage of the workers is kept as low as possible
yes that's true, but RP's position is to not legislate things that aren't expressly dictated as Federal Government duties by the constitution, so even though he's for free markets, he's wants the federal government to be powerless to prevent the individual states from legislating against it,
so if the governor of your state rolls over and lets wallmart buy everything, you'll know who to lynch, the federal governments excessive power is what makes it so easy for corporations to get what they want.
yer i support a lot of his stances and he has great ideas for reforming health care, but he's just toooooo right wing, and kucinich is tooooo left wing, they have to team up and find the right compromises!

A complete sentence countering your false assertion that Gravel put all the blame on Bush. He wished to add parenthetically that he thinks it is correct to blame Congress as well.
mpolzkill 3 years ago
Haha! you're funny I like you.
TomWyn123 3 years ago
Agreed. You're pretty funny too. And I really dig Nina Simone. Cool channel.

I don't trust him. I think hes a demigod starved for attention. Some of the things he says are true, but you have to wonder about a mans motivation.
TomWyn123 3 years ago
I don't trust anyone who says they're going to do anything for me. He's a leftie which means he's a socialist so he's not my cup of tea. Lefties have a right to pick the kind of society they want though. The only way for you & them & me to get along in one country is through Jeffersonian Federalism. Different flavoured states, community standards rule, the 9th & 10th Amendments. Gravel wants National Referendums. Straight Democracy is just about the worst form of government.
mpolzkill 3 years ago
That will never happen.
TomWyn123 3 years ago
Perhaps not here & now with how far we've gone down the socialist road to destruction. But America DID pretty much have the system I describe, it's the cause of all of America's former (dissipating) greatness. That is a fact & when it really gets bad around here there is a chance people will pull their heads out of their asses. If you believe otherwise there is no point in you fighting over which kind of collapse we shall have a Fascist flavoured one (McCain) or a Communist flavoured one (Obama)
mpolzkill 3 years ago

Then there is the corruption of elections.
lizardfirefighter110 3 years ago 7

If Gravel truly has the best foreign policy judgment (as he claims), it is inexcusable for him to just "hide under a rock" for the past 30 years and deny the American people the benefit of his leadership.
Where was he during Iran Contra, Mogadishu, and Gulf War I?
nmberg 4 years ago
whoa, hiding under a rock? poor guy doesn't get any media coverage and no one knows who he is. he virtually ended the vietnam war himself. and now that he's running for president, I bet the majority of the US would vote for him-- if they knew he existed.

But, to Chris' point, Gravel also has a duty to hold his Democratic colleagues in the Senate.
nmberg 4 years ago
no...obama and hilary are busch league...and he is a seasoned pro. too bad america cant see that due to media censoring.

The only way we can responsibly end this war is to fix what we broke.
We must make sure when we leave Iraq that the country has a government, army, and police force capable of maintaining order.
If we leave and the country descends into civil war, followed by a take over by Iran, the blood will be on ALL our hands.
You can blame Bush for getting us into this mess, but we all take the blame for failing to restore Iraq into a functional country again.

Don't you see what Muslims are doing? Killing, Suicide Bombings...! In about 20-25 years the world would be totally dominated by Muslims, do u want that to happen? ! No ! Man wouldnt it be great if Gravel and Kucinich joined forces? One doesnt have to lose for the other will win. The world needs Gravel, Kucinich, Ron Paul and maybe Bloomberg in the same government. They will get assassinated ofc by the military-industrial complex and they will make it look like someone else did it but this is the only way we might wake up and join these 4 and fight for our liberties.
xDisruptor 4 years ago
yeah i think it's generally assumed that if Kucinich was pres Gravel would be VP
I think Ron Paul would be the most amazing Secretary of Defense for such an administration because his ideas on foreign policy are perfect.
RevolutionaryJam 4 years ago
well he is smart on defense, but he's very clued up on economics too, kucinich is right when he says that Americans are already paying for universal healthcare but aren't getting it, but the way I see it, America needs a pretty brutal reality check very soon, you guys have got to cut spending right back to the bone, after that if healthcare is still on the agenda then great, even if it's more expensive because of govt. involvement.
luke666808g 4 years ago
RP wants to transition to free market HC, the key word is transition, so if kucinich has a better more efficient way for government to do it, RP would be for it, and would pay for it by drastically cutting foreign/military/drug war spending.
luke666808g 4 years ago
yer the thing is socialised healthcare is a monopoly and the pharmaceutical companies will run it even if it is "government owned" coz they're in bed together
as you can see i have criticisms of both right and left wing policies :/
RevolutionaryJam 4 years ago
i know but i don't like free market economics because it means people are allowed to own as much propery as they want and charge people rent (ie. enslave other people so they don't have to serve society)
or own as much stocks and shares as they want so they get dividends for doing no work, while the wage of the workers is kept as low as possible
RevolutionaryJam 4 years ago
yes that's true, but RP's position is to not legislate things that aren't expressly dictated as Federal Government duties by the constitution, so even though he's for free markets, he's wants the federal government to be powerless to prevent the individual states from legislating against it,
luke666808g 4 years ago
so if the governor of your state rolls over and lets wallmart buy everything, you'll know who to lynch, the federal governments excessive power is what makes it so easy for corporations to get what they want.
luke666808g 4 years ago
The problem with that is so much of our economy is in the hands of so few, these corporations cand dictate to the states, as they do now.
When the power of the corporations extends globally, states have little more power than the individuals.
gmfutube 4 years ago
yer i support a lot of his stances and he has great ideas for reforming health care, but he's just toooooo right wing, and kucinich is tooooo left wing, they have to team up and find the right compromises!
