  • @Zellps0 lol wow why did i write ivory

  • what is Roygbiv?

  • i always feel smarter after hearing this song

  • This song reminds me of Mr. Wizard.

  • anything after 1:33 straight up deserves to be in an official video, especially the circuit board

  • Im not familiar with those sounds but I know 100% excactly what you mean.

  • Fantastic video.

Please have also a look at my personal video on Roygbiv.

  • This is awesome

  • Very nicely done. As many others here it reminded me of the same era and the same TV programmes the first time I heard this track. Thanks for uploading.

  • When this song ends, I shed a tear. Not because such a beautiful song has come to an end, but because I'm back on earth.

  • When I heard this album after a few attempts, i realised the transistion between these two songs is fantatstic and that one really only works with the other. So I was hoping someone would put them up on Youtube together. Luckily you have fufilled my wish, and gone the extra mile with a great video to go with it. Thank You.

  • this is pro as fuck with the circuit board

  • TOO NICE

  • In my opinion one of the best videos on youtube.I have this album by Boards of Canada, and I must confess I only really listen to these two tracks.Bocuma and Roygbiv flow very well together. The music (for me) really captures the feel of some old PBS nature/educational program, especially in the first half. You put together an interesting collage of images that compliments the music amazingly. I can't get enough of this one.Thank you.

  • aaaah like minded people... good vibes all round. Its true, the feeling this track gives you... I fear it may ACTUALLY physically take me back in time to me first school if i listen to it too much :) Great vid dude!

  • bocuma always reminded me of a commercial bumper/break.

Exactly how you had it there haha.

  • Spot-on choice of clips for a great pair of tracks.

  • i love this, you should vj

  • boards of canada gets me through my homework. thx BOC

  • Dude you're totally right! This music totally fits. XD

I really love Roygbiv. It's my favorite song in the entire world.

  • huh could even a analogue computer generate graphics and sound.

or does it just playing a video .

whatever ,m searched i only found info of regulating variable voltages, calculations, directionns, but not anny word about audio and video.

    thanks

  • Outstanding video phil, first heard this Album two years ago. I felt strange that it could have such a pull on my memories.

It's distant and dark but retains a charm and positivity, love it.

  • reminds me of clockwork orange soundtraks

  • ive been looking for a real to real movie we used to watch in 1983 to 85 in school. it was it started with some kids on a marygoround. need help

  • the past is living inside the present.

  • both these songs are just magical

  • Композиция ППЦ аххеренная....

  • does anyone know which exact National Film Board of Canada video/song was sampled for the roygbiv track?

  • I don't think BOC sampled music from those NFBOC films. I think they used vintage synths or vintage synth effects to capture the flavour of sounds from that period. If I'm wrong about this let me know

  • I was born in 88 so I never was really exposed to those old nature videos in their prime. But after Boards of Canada i will never look at them the same way. Especially the music...

  • you're definitely not alone in this phil <3

  • The nostalgia that this track conjures is just so overwhelming. I believe Boards of Canada took their title from the Canadian film company responsible for those nature films that used to run in the UK on Saturday afternoons in the 70's. I remember they featured loads of dreamy red sunsets & one of those boats with a huge fan on the back to explore reedy lakes. No other track I know evokes such a strong connection with good times past.

  • I agree with you very much, Your also correct, they took their name from the National Film Board Of Canada.

  • @66hoopick66 nostalgic to me neither :) reminds me when i was much..much younger and so relaxin at all :)))))

  • although a good song, this song makes me think of the past

  • Boards of Canada outdid themselves with this song. They are now their own Nemesis! Can they outdo themselves and their own virtuosity in crafting a song better then this????

All my respect, because this song just bypasses any sense organ and just goes right to your heart!

  • this kind of song sends me.

  • ofcourse the inclusion of bocuma as the intro elevates this piece & provides context which has been captured perfectly with the countdown clock

it is possible however that some synthesis of the two - cherry-picking the best of the other - would provide the ultimate visual accolade in every way worthy of one of bocs greatest musical mind-trips

  • there is a similar video of roygbiv that employs advertising footage of mid-1980's vintage that - whilst highly creditable must be deemed the less satisfactory version of this remarkable musical work of such tantalisingly fleeting brevity & inspired perfection as it doesnt achieves quite so successfully the poignant effect of transporting us back through a portal in the minds eye to that younger , brighter & better televisual world of a future that is now behind us

  • This is my favorite BoC song and the clip you pulled from the BBC is dead on. Seems like a lot of old public television used similar style music.

  • Brings back memories of elementry school in the 80's. Educational films and PBS -- in California.

  • It surely is one of the strangest and mesmerising tune's I've ever heard and the visuals are spot on. I wonder where the hell BoC get their samples from?!

  • So is that the official vid or or is it fan material ?

    Either way, gr8 job !

    real inspiring sound too.

Makes me wanna try'n make 1 myself !

    1 day, mayB :-) ...

  • I've said it before. BoC puts the muse back in music.

  • The most amazing thing I've ever heard.

  • aahh! i immediately thought the same thing! i always wanted to hear more music like that. i didnt realize it until this BOC album, and it filled the cravings id had since elementary school, watching all those old educational tapes.

  • It also makes perfect sense for me in France.

    Thanks.

  • and here in the states as well.

  • You've really done a great job. This makes perfect sense, even in Chicago. ;)

    Kudos.

  • yes, Chi town born and raised and I feel the same way.

WTTW had some broken colecovision sounding segues back in the day.

  • I like so much the association of Bocuma and the BBC clock of the late seventies. I feel it as a perfect metaphor of nostalgia and time passing. Yet, I'm French...

    Your video is really briliiant.

  • this is awesome

  • I think you've done a really, really good job with this. +1 from me bro. Thanks for this, it obviously took some thought, effort, and creativity.

  • this is great. i totally agree with the feelings these tracks give.

  • yea its awesome

  • Excellent

  • the video is fantastic

  • if you like the nostalgic "school music" give leftfield - melt a listen, im sure ch4 used it, can anyone confirm?

  • GENIAL

  • I identify with this so much, I can't even begin to tell you. Their music reminds me of those indistry films we used to watch in school.

  • I get nostalgia when watching boards of canada videos..

  • Phil90125,you're a genius..thanks so much, absolutely love BoC and totally agree with what you've done here..had a flashback of most of them especially Picture Box and Scene...I've a warm feeling in my belly now!!

  • Many of these comments are spot on: I mean in terms of these old BBC vignettes washing you over in a strange wave of nostalgia. We once had similar clips issued here in Canada: by none other than the National Film BOARD OF CANADA. I'm sure this great duo knew what it was doing in choosing its name.

Type in "Canada Vignettes - Delta Plane" for an idea of what I'm talking about.

  • I'm French...

Are the clips of the National Film BOARD OF CANADA similar in music or pictures?

  • je trouve que leur nostalgie, qu'il a parle, c'est un peut comme ca:

    watch?v=okVU6v8phzY&feature=related

Je suis americain, alors je ne suis pas certaine.

  • Had a nice nostalgic touch.

  • both the boc and bbc sound have a hold on me. a time and place that i'll never be able to go back to...only in my mind. can be depressing sometime.

  • I feel the same, like it's all gone for the final time, love boc peace.

  • Fantastic.

  • Awesome! The best Roygbiv video I've seen yet and it doesn't hurt that it has Bocuma attached as well.

  • a university called Santo Tomas in my country (Chile) ripped off this song for a commercial. Its pathetic how they abused this amazing song.

  • Apparently Boards of Canada is immune to flame wars on their comments...colour me shocked.

  • Oh yeah, wanna fight about it? :P Just kidding, Boards of Canada rule

  • Boards of Canada are scarily good

  • Fantastic, this is exactly what i thought of when I first heard that track! I think BoC deliberately went for the whole 'schools tv' sound on the first album in order to evoke memories of childhood (at least for kids of the 80's like me!)

I find it amazing how an album can make you think of musty-smelling classrooms, messing about on swings, drinking dodgy-tasting milk out of little cartons..

  • best comment ever!

  • amen!

  • totally. remeber the freaky music during near & far? star wars: return of the jedi sticker album, transformers, 4 tv channels, tim and tobias books, long summers that lasted ages, ewoks, dogtanian, phillip schofield in the broomcupboard, sinclair spectrum, 20p a credit in the arcades, peep-peep and the boy who fell to earth...

  • @Nickgreek123 Agreed, very rare to find an artist that makes more than music.

  • Incredibly original video for such great tracks.

    Congratulations.

  • YOUR ALL SUCH INCREDIBLE PEOPLE!

You only need look at the contrast of comments

as opposed to the rest of YOU TUBE, to become

aware that we are the shining lights of

    Tomorrow.

    Such pure positive energy here!

    Peace!

  • roygbiv is the best song ive ever heard. period

  • @EstateZ42 I remember my first joint.

  • @EstateZ42 I agree but would add Everything you do is a balloon

  • really love some of the clips you've used. very fitting.

    great job :D

  • good video!I love BoC!

  • my god

  • Fantastic stuff, very well done my friend,Nostalgic and beautiful

  • the FINEST images for BOC,

    surprised!

  • Hi Phil - I was just reminded of this and so did a search - still think it's fuppin' cool, matey.

  • parece como si tuviera mensajes subliminales XD

  • very nice.

  • Bocuma still gives me goosebumps. Sublime.

  • the song matches these clips so good too. GREAT JOB YO! :)

  • thanks ainoco45000, i didn't realise... i loved this clip... nice 1

  • This is really special. I dont know why, but whenever I hear this song, it always reminded me of something like this - you pulled this straight out of my dreams. Brilliant.

  • This is preety pro...

  • I can confirm that I pulled these clips from old BBC and ITV schools programmes from You Tube. Looking at it now I see how the timing is all off and how some of the clips hang around too long. But hell as a second attempt at this thing I still like it, although I can't rule out a "Special Edition Directors Cut" at some point.

    Thanks for the postive comments

  • @phil90125 Its mostly to the beat, thumbs up.

  • I really liked this video,

very nicely put together with skill and cordination. Seamless intergration of the visual quality of each clip (if you found all these videos on youtube much applaudes for making this) Only negative opinion i have is that BOC's music, which is so effortlessly timeless and beautiful seems to loose some of its potency when anything remotely policical is used in conjuntion with it.

    But really good, great work.

  • this is really great!

  • red

    orange

    yellow

    green

    blue

    indigo

    violet

  • I totally agree with cheeseboy777, how do BOC make me feel 8 years old and lost in the summer holidays every time I listen to this track??

  • just unbelievably amazing. so fukkin good!

    B.O.C Fans. we rule!!!!

  • Loved it!!

  • innocent memories...

  • Rare

    original

    your work

    great

    beautiful

    i love it

    very cool

  • Hi, really enjoyed this, took me back to those pointless filmstrips I was subjected to as a child at school! I love the nostalga (sp?) BOC invoke, Bocuma gives me the craziest dejavu for some reason but I can't quite put my finger on the memory...

  • I love this... I love you!!!!! Thanks for sharing.

  • Brilliant.
