My dream is to take a Lotus Exige S to Bangkok, with enough money to pay off the cops, and drive the hell out of that car, till I hit a border or bad traffic. Im sure someone out there knows just how much fun that
Not much actually, I think my 06 Elise cost me around $2k per year with full coverage. Gas mileage is great (around 26 on the freeway). Oil changes aren't too bad ($300 per oil change).
Yes, they are reliable to drive everyday. I chose not to however because the seats are NOT that comfortable. There is no lumbar support either unless you get the cheaper cloth seats, then you can "pump up" the lumbar support via a hand pump.
Not sure if you knew it or not but the motor and transmission are made by Toyota!
Oil changes will run you $300 as they have to remove the skid plate under the car to change your oil. Yes, the entire bottom of the car is a skid plate. You don't see any wires, cables, axles...nothing!
i knew about the toyota engine and stuff not about the oil change lol. thats alot for just oil change. so you have to get the oil change done at the deler im guessing and every 3000 miles(dont think jiffy lube will do that kind of oil change LOL) ? how about maintenance like checking the motor brakes and stuff. can any mechanic work on it or it has to be from the dealer ?
i missed lake vista between mulholland in malibou lake and back down mulholland!!!!- wrong urn :-) no fun there!!!!!! I live in this area so i know it pretty will. nice car btw!!! i want a reventón but i need money or a garage to store a stolen one haha
hahaha agoura road to kanan-towards malibu, then on mulholland back towards malibou lake, then mulholland heading away from malibou lake, then encinal towards malibu,-fucking biker, then up decker canyon-i think, then on kanan freaking again towards agoura,
Yeah, I love the sound of the 2zz engine. I drove a 997 Turbo just yesterday, and didn't like it a whole lot. The sound was too muted, and I've just grown to love the sound of the 2zz engines.
@ShortySIG552 yes, I'm on LotusTalk. I've listened to the Larini on YouTube videos and thought it sounded a little "raspy". Does it sound better in person? I see a lot of people running Larini.
They are very quick but they are most known for their handling. To this day I have not driven a car that comes close to the handling of an Elise/Exige. I have driven Miata, Porsche, Vette, Lambo, 350Z, RX7 and nothing comes close. I don't care for too much as a daily driver as you sit lower than the frame so getting in and out can be no fun if making many stops in the City.
yea i understand but i dont want to spend over $60,000 and get blow away by anything less than that price...but yea i know that it not a everyday driver i just want to have some fun on the road besides riding my sportbike..
Just as a reminder; it is not a drag car. If you want a off the line car for less than $60k then go with a Corvette for $40k It does 0-60 much quicker than the Elise. The Elise is almost as quick, handles 10x better and will get you more chics than a Vette however!
now thats what i want to heard....is the sound inside the car pretty loud?...its kind of weird for a car that nice looking that you dont see a lot of them on the road...must be because its not a practical car..
I have Lotus Stage II exhaust which is much louder than stock. The microphone used was inside the car. It sounds much better than stock. When slowing down the exhaust actually crackles like a Murcielago!
The Exige S is the one who starts out in front of me. You can tell by the wing on the back. You can't see out of the back windshield because the supercharger blocks the back windshield.
elise is nicer then exige
feeltharythym 11 months ago
Nicer? Yes maybe. But its an everday driving car. not a hall ass around a mountain car
MammasBoy4u 7 months ago
@feeltharythym Personal preference. The Exige would be my choice if I were on the track more as it has more downforce!

Not bad at all. But being a RWD how does it handle on the snow?
SmokingHashish 3 years ago
Ha, wouldn't recommend driving it in the snow! Stick with a 4WD car/truck/suv unless you plan on putting some hot laps in learning to drift.
kamaro68 3 years ago
Ok, so my question is how much does insurance cost on the exige? I'm highly considering buying one very soon.

wait...oil changes are $300? Correct me if I'm wrong, but shoulnd't oil changes be around $10 to $25?
tehknoNinja 3 years ago
yeah, great deal huh! It sure beats the cost of a Ferrari oil change at about $1500...
kamaro68 3 years ago
nice.. planing on geting a lotus elise next year for my 21st birthdate... are they realiable cars to drive it everyday ?

He was being sarcastic bro, I am sure he knows how lame the Versa's are
switzxx20 3 years ago
Hence the title "cruise". Race was used more as a tag.
I am sure your Versa is much nicer, more expensive, faster and more luxurious also :)

They rock.
As does Lotus.

The exhaust you hear on my Lotus is with a Stage II Lotus exhaust. It is much louder than stock.

Noted. I'm considering the Larini on mine. Are you on LotusTalk? The Forum formerly known as EliseTalk?

Test drive the car if you're old enough.
That is all.
It will either sell you on the car or not. Period.
