  • This game's ending is soooo adorable.

  • sunsoft really knew how to make good games :D

  • @estlib I agree. Sunsoft of Japan really knew how to make great games.

  • what if obiwan and the black power ranger had a baby? =3

  • Halo :P

  • @BrYaN5555 why?

  • Lol, power ranger boss.

  • its kinda sad you had to destroy all the girl's toys just because they were jealous.

  • Well, maybe, but if the little girl's life was in danger, methinks it was just something that had to be done.

Wouldn't it be neat to have a sequel where this game's hero (Yumetaro, IIRC) turned out to be the main villain because HE ended up being discarded?

  • lol maybe, he'd probably be replaced by a sci-fi type toy

  • It's weird that music titled Surfacing from Unreal game reminds me a music from the final boss of Gimmick!.

  • Yeah, almost all the enemies are peaceful in this stage.

  • Dracula from Castlevania is really a Jedi in disguise.

  • @Cerotype He is not a jedi!

    He is a Jedi beekeeper

  • I own this game, haha like meeting Luke Skywalker ;)

  • This game uses an FME7 chip.

  • could you use it to make music? or what is the chip for? :P

    (i'm a newbie)

  • Yeah, it's probably just a specialized chip developed for use in the Famicom cartridges, and most likely simply for the music.

I ran the ROM on actual NES hardware via RetroUSB's PowerPak, and the music was mostly intact, but not the sound effects.

  • You can read more about the FME-07 chip and other mappers by looking up "Multi-Memory Controller" on wikipedia.

It's not only for music, but allows for the 3 additional square waves used in Gimmick. There are newer mappers available from 'loopy' that will make audio expansion on the NES work (from the powerpak's end). To make the NES itself support the extra audio, there is simple modification for that. :)

  • New mappers, huh? Neat! I'll look into those, thanks.

  • This level is such a pain in the ass to get to. Thanks so much for posting it, I thought I'd never see it again!
