Yes, Dale has left the band again. He will be missed. He is not only a great banjo player, bass player or musician but a world leader bass singer. He will be misssed and replacements talented like him are hard to find.
@musicianforjesus Actually, I read Dale had a warrant for domestic assault and the cops came arrested Dale during a show. That was Jan. 2010. I don't know anything else about the situation, though.
I dont think Doyle would be too upset by Dale's melodic lick, it fit the phrase in the song perfectly giving it a bit extra kick... It wasnt some left field 4 to 6 measure ascending / descending scale deal that Doyle would have frowned on... Personally I was taken by his backup at 0:28, nice suspense builder!
I agree with cobraman428. Don't let some banjer player youngster take the spotlight away from "The man!" You could tell by Dale's glance over who signs the paychecks!
At the 1:06 mark in the song, Dale plays a melodic lick and I will bet my paycheck that Doyle says to him..."play it straight boy"!!!! You can tell by Dale's expression.
@cobraman428 betch ya he told him good job, cuz ive seen ole Baucom hit plenty of Melodic stuff with him..........i see Dale is pickin one of Arthur Hatfields fine banjos, I Endorse Hatfield banjos too and play a special model. Very good banjos, hes still pickin one now that hes back with doyle.

@musicianforjesus Its a real shame, isn't it? I hate seeing talented people screw up their lives. That is, of course, if he was guilty.

Was a great group and Dale's lick wasnt a whole lot different from the fiddle lick at 2:13. I liked this group as much as any he's had.

Good stuff. Dale's a great picker, but IMHO, nobody picks it like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em TERRY BAUCOM! Best banjo player that ever played with Doyle.

Barry Scott and Jamie Dailey, two of the best Quicksilver Alumni, and oh yeah, lets not forget about Russell Moore!

I noticed that. He looked at Doyle like he was saying, "I got this bossman!"

I actually like the lick he hit there. It didn't interfere with the vocals or anything.
