But in the end, Sirius was saved by Harry and Hermione on the dragon.

Just saying the reason that they go to Hogwarts for seven years is most likely because of the schooling In England. We have primary school (after nursery) up to the age of eleven and then go to a secondary school from the age of eleven to eighteen which is seven years. I honestly don't think the amount of years they go to hogwarts is symbolic.. Just my opinion really.

Here's a fact about number 15: See everybody knows there are two versions of the first book: The Philosopher's Stone and The Sorcerer's Stone. The Philosopher's Stone is the British book while The Socerer's Stone was for Americans. Since Bloomsbury Publisher was going to publish it, they thought that Americans wouldn't know what a philosopher is so they changed it to Sorcerers. J.K. Rowling resented it but since it is was her first book being accepted to publish, she didn't want to anger him. :)
