  • i would be shatting my pants if i had to play after them three >____<

  • Satch seems like he wants to kill Malmsteen when Malmsteen is playing lol.

  • its very brave of them to attempt this song as they are going to be compared with the original which is incomparable in every respect.

    well done chaps.

the real one is so perfect.

  • The must be a logical reason why I always raise my volume to 150% when Joe's solo starts

  • 4:20 i came..

  • malmsteen is awesome...of course we don't like his CRAZY soloing but guys...it's his style! also...the little fills he does in the beginning are pure awesomeness

  • satriani's solo is the one that goes better with this song

  • satriani satriani the Masterrr!!

  • satriani satriani satriani!!!...

  • I LOVE VAI, HE´S ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PLAYERS BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT THAT HE IS VERY POSER :D I WOULD LIKE EJ INSTEAD OF MALMSTEEN :( AND LORD VOLDM.. I SAID SATRIANI ITS AMAZING!!

  • Satriani is the best, without doubt!!! Your performance it´s the most exclusive, and your melodies are most full of feelings. I could hear only him, even if I not see him.

  • amazing

  • Fast doesn't mean better But three primo guitar players paying homage to jimi doesn't get much better then that

  • i think each of the solos there was amazing but none of them were as good or soulful as satch's

  • i agree with jontybogan1979....each guitarist is unique...and has a unique style....and that's whay in my opinion you can't compare them.....all of them worte history and are great musicians......god bless them all

  • Hendrix and SRV still blow all of them out of the water and off of the stage.

  • satriani was the best!

  • Seriosly how to destory such a perfect song like little wing :|

  • 3 Genius, definely.

  • I like Satrianis solo better than any of them. He wasnt the fastest but it fit Little Wing better than the others in my opinion. And it was more soulful.

  • Satriani the best !!!

  • Satch has the BETTER feel on this performance.

  • Stevie u the greatest....

  • Malmsteen ruined it...

  • for me malmsteen does it good, vai sucks ( tapping on little wing...) and joe sat. does it good too

  • To counter the anti-Yngwie sentiment, I happen to enjoy what he does. I also get a kick out of the jealous comments posted here. It's all rather silly. I mean I don't come to Burger King and slam on you while you Flip burgers or hammer on your style being all wrong as you change the oil in my car at Nifty Lube. It's just cats playing guitars and paying tribute to Jimi Hendrix for the inspiration he provided for crying out loud...and that is precisely what you are doing, Crying Out Loud.

  • Malmsteen is good and all but WTF he managed to make it sound neo classical! twat! steve vai werent much better tappin in it! satch was the only one with any feel!!

  • malmsteen is a douche bag hes ok on guitar but i cant fukin stand him

  • Please shut up, Yngwie.

  • Satch Played the solo to the rhythm of the song, Vai Shredded to the tone of the song, Malmsteen just, did his own thing, there off in Yngwie land

  • What these guys are doing is amazing. Enjoy it for what it is - a tribute to a great guitarist and possibly his greatest song.

  • vai's voice its nice D

  • satch was singing while the other two were just spraying notes everywhere

  • to the people who dont like this version cause its is more like a competition than a cover: for example, put yourself in satriani's position. you've got vai and malmsteen at your stage. would you try to be better than they are or just turn your volume down and play some chords??? :)

  • Well satch did so he best cover but Vai and his technicality but malm has his sweeps!

  • best cover ever!

loved malmsteen's first solo...satch too...vai is great as always...

  • That's Mind Blowing!!! Awesome Shit !!! :)

  • no version will ever be better than Jimi Hendrix's one itself.

  • @guilhermerambaldi92 satriani is the only worthy guitarist in this frame.

  • OMG satriani the best solo..

  • considering the other two shred the song by shredding ;) see what I did there

  • I prefer the Skid Row version, which sounds more beauty, and not as a competition =p

  • Yngwie the BEST

  • Get Yngwie off of that damn stage.

  • man they are awesome

  • best song ever malmsteen is a shit

  • What?? Are you crazy? Or simply stupid? Maybe it's a joke..

  • the masterpiece of masterpieces

  • Yes. I agree bluesy.

  • i got totally satchurated! Joe kicks ass.

  • It always annoys me when Satch opens his mouth during a solo like at 3:38.

  • that's called soul bro!

  • Yep, I Agree.

  • cry about it

  • that's what i told your mother last night

  • if i wasnt an orphan child i would be upset that u said that. either way satriani owns at guitar mouth open/closed

  • Malmsteen is a douche

  • Each guitarist brings their own element to the song, i think thats the whole idea of the G3 tour, bringing different styles of playing and focusing them into the one song. Like or dislike, they still sound great in my opinion.

  • @jontybogan1979 I totally agree

  • ive never heard vai sing before...but wow not half bad.

  • Malmsteen just doesnt fit this song take him away and its next to perfect--- perfect being hendrix

  • I agree with you completely, when he shreds during a cover , it completely fucks it up beyond repair, I wish he would grasp the concept that you don't always need to play fast, that is why nobody can stand his music, it is just to much, I really wish people would styop worshiping him.

  • yea satch is like WTF lol look at his face

  • All great guitarists. i have each one of theirs.( replicas) and the best playable ones are vai and satriani. and they are the best guitarists in this song. yngwie is good but kinda ruins this amazing clasic...

  • satch is the best by far

  • malmsteen is such a self absorbed show off

  • its very good idea, who is the event organizer

  • shredding is what yngwie does... let the man shred damn it. if he played a slow solo it wouldn't be yngwie.

  • That's what makes it so sad

  • I love the intro but I don't give a fuck who's better or not of the three and I don't even give a damn about these comments!!! This G3 tour kicks ass!!! Enuff said. End of Story!!!

  • I am a huge steve vai van , but i dont know always when i hear satriani i ve get an undescribeable feeling. I think Joe's improvising got more message . HMM maybe i am just a noob xD

  • i dont think you are a noob.

in my opinion all three guitarists played cool solos, but yngwies is just fast, steve is just posing and joe satriani just feels the song. his solo isnt so difficult but its amazing

  • malmsteen are soooooooo fattttttt

  • If you want to hear a REALLY good cover of this song, check out Cesar Huesca. It's totally amazing, and there is no "look how effin' awesome I am" attitude in it at all.

These guys should also check it out.

  • Yeah, Yngwie can play and can play fast. But I still think he's an arrogant douche and he totally ruined the song (his part of it, anyway).

This song isn't about going "meedee meedee meedeedelee dee" 200 miles an hour on the high strings. All he did was shred, because that seems to be all he can do.

Every time I hear him talk I want to spit like I have Touret's. Yeah, I'm hating, but I don't care. His attitude deserves it.

  • thi isnt music, its a bunch of guys masturbating guitars to mirrors

  • Okay, look at your speakers.

See the one with the knob and the little light bulb?

Turn the knob until the light is on.

You should be able to hear the music now.

  • its hilarious how loud Steve Vai's guitar is

  • Man steve has a decent voice.

  • Yngwie and Satch have my favorite solos here. Ynwie has the better tone.

  • i think that is just his style, there will be people who like it.

and this is the great thing about g3 i think, there are 3 guitarist with their personally own style.

but i like satchs solo best:D not so fast but genious

  • grnde steve ray :)

  • Malmsteen is a wanker, Vai and Satch's solos fitted the song but malmsteen just had to make a perfectly good song gay, that isn't the song for shredding and steve and joe don't they to solos with heaps of feal, but malmsteen just does some crappy shredding, i have nothing agaonst shredding but when malmteen does it (and especially in this song) it sounds crap

  • Vai was shredding too. Only he wasn't as melodic and his tone wasn't as good. lol Having said that...I love Vai : )

  • yer but vai didnt use crappy diminished chromatics and it actually sounded good (apart from the end lol)

  • Crappy diminished chromatics? lol

  • does anybody know how old steve vai was when satriani took him under his little wing and showed him how it's done??? if so reply and tell me

    cheers

  • About 14 I think.

  • Malmsteen just looked stupid really. (look at me, i can play fast.)

    satriani has soul

  • so true man

  • Though I like Yngwie the most out of the three, Joe Satriani by far had the best solo. He kept it tasteful.

  • steve vai has one of the nicest tones ive ever heard

  • on top of that, he really does have an amazing voice, he sings this song really well

  • Pienso ke cada uno le mete su estilo, pero de ke el estilo de malmsteen con el de jimiy hendrix no es del todo compatible pero se escucho muy bien

    jejeje

    kmara!!

  • Satch had to round it up with the right feel of the song and i think he did it briliantly. If Malmsteen was last it would have sounded rather awkward.

  • Good point

  • @Cheokz It is because their show so they had to end it you dodo...

  • Or when others don't want to

  • There are very few people who can shred a song like Little Wing with any sort of actual feeling, and Malmsteen just isn't one of them.

    Sorry.

  • Yngwie was crap, steve and joe are both better guitarists, yngwie tried to shred in a song that isn't meant to hhave shredding JZLucas, u kno shit all about guitar

  • so, just because it's fast....it sucks?

  • Well, there's a right way to shred, and a wrong way to shred.

    1:54-1:59 he had it right.

1:59-2:30 he had it very wrong.

  • 1:54-1:59 isn't really shredding. He's just playing the head of the solo, there. 1:59-2:30 is perfectly fine. It's well done. It's clean and melodic. Just because something is played quickly, doesn't mean it's not melodic. Besides, Yngwie is certainly not the only guy playing quickly here. By that rationale, you'd have to jump Vai's case, too.

  • Besides, how do you know that Hendrix himself wouldn't have played some faster passages in this very song (or any of his others) if he had had the skills?

  • Well shit, I don't really know how to answer that one...

I think he probably intended for this to be a nice, slow ballad, but he probably would have added in some faster bits to spice it up.

And now that I think about it, the only real problem I have with Yngwie is that he doesn't shred in order to make the song sound good, he shreds in order to make himself sound good.

He's just trying to upstage Vai and Satch, and thats not what Little Wing should be played for.

  • Well, I appreciate your honesty in saying that you "really don't know the answer", instead of just arguing with me.

"And now that I think about it, the only real problem I have with Yngwie is that he doesn't shred in order to make the song sound good, he shreds in order to make himself sound good."

I have to say that I agree with you on some things. Yngwie has some great qualities, but i love to hear him reign himself in just a bit more. However, I still think this is done melodically.

  • Having said that, this is a guitar based concert and these guys (including even Vai) have been doing exactly what most of these people paid to hear them do. Melt face. I think you have to look at things in context. Yes, Yngwie could have definitely played slower here and made a real nice melodic statement. But, he chose to play fast (as usual), but it doesn't mean that it's not melodic. He has some really good note choice in there.

  • I'm actually not that huge of an Yngwie fan and I'm not saying you jumped on this wagon, but I just hate it when people hear fast playing, and then make snap judgments without really using their ears.

  • I'm just judging by what I've heard about his character, and his actions on stage; like how every couple seconds he chimes with some little riff to direct attention back to himself, he's always pulling out stage moves (kicking, holding up his guitar) and it appears he stole the first solo from Satch.

Plus I hear all kinds of stories about him being a douchbag during his concerts.

  • He CAN play guitar though...

  • Yeah, no doubt that Yngwie has been a douche bag. You're going to laugh, but I think he's actually mellowed out a bit and gotten a sense of humor about himself, in his older age. Particularly playing with those two guys on this tour. Again, you might want to laugh, but I think he has actually honored a bit to play with them. I'm comparing what he used to be like to how he acts now. The kicking and antics will always be Yngwie. I don't think it's much different than Vai's showmanship.

  • However, I know what you mean. I've heard a lot of stories about his cock-ness, too. Yngwie will be Yngwie.. lol

  • Vai and Paul Gilbert, on the other hand....are nice as pie when you meet them.

  • Yeah, I don't know where people get off saying Vai's arrogant.

He seems like a genuinely cool guy.

  • I've met him a few times and he's been super cool everytime.

  • yngwie spoils the song

  • got that right

  • i kno (i left a massive comment about how bad he is

  • just the perfect convination..steve vai is my hero :P

  • Satch delivers humiliating pwnage to Steve and Yngwie. And I say so despite being a huge Vai fan.

  • no way man vai delivers this song so well, altough i do agree satchs solo was moving i still feel vai made this performance.

  • satriani's solo is the best.

  • Yep, I like it most, too.

  • agree

  • what is best...a submarine a car or a plane? anwser..none of them because they are completely diferent...just like this guitar players

  • Amen to that!

  • umm no the car would be best becuase when the other 2 run out of gas you die....when you run out of gas in a car you can just get out and walk....there is no real danger in a car therefor the car is the best...and its been around the longest of the 3...

    Paul Gilbert is a car...becuase he is a legend..and history...and badass

  • PEEEEEEERFEECTT!!!

  • bszwec, come on, Malmsteen fit well, too.

  • the fucking best!!!

  • yngwie would shred the fucking funeral march

  • Get rid of fuckin Malmsteen and it's all good. Vai and Satriani are amazing.

  • Actually I was wrong....

    Satch did best

  • This is an abomination

    Vai did best

but Yngwie completely butchered, destroyed, and filled it with filth

Stevie Ray had the best cover of this song I believe

  • Holy Shit... :p

  • once steve vai rips into the solo with the finger tapping...it just completely owns the whole thing!

  • Listen to "little wing" on his album "Live at the Astoria london" Blows your head of.

  • Stevie Ray Vaughan version is the best!

  • that sent chills down my spine...

  • The amount of talent on that stage is just amazing

  • steve vai...joe satriani...yngwe malmsteen...non dico altro!

  • the best cover of little wing...

  • you are so right!,but i think stevie rays is great too

  • i really like pearl jam's version, but this one is definitely better!

  • Awesome man! :D
