Obviously the pitch of the ad is about going off on holidays ABROAD. "Airports not miles from anywhere"....that is a dig at ryanair's policy of flying into airfields across Europe.
It's an advert to show the advantages of flying with Aer Lingus, all the little things that other low cost airlines don't offer. It has shots of different countries because there would be very little point in advertising Ireland to people already in Ireland wouldn't you agree?
All Ryanair focuses on is cheap flights, where as for Aer Lingus, they focus on customer quality and actually, sometimes they have cheaper flights than Ryanair.
I love how the ad silently "attacks," so to speak, Ryanair. :))
-Airports that aren't miles from anywhere
-A seat with your name on it, so there's no scramble for the plane
-Self-service check in
-Will look after you
Aer Lingus isn't a big player by any means, but at least they market themselves as more customer friendly (more important than cheapest fare, IMO) than the other airline on the island!
Aer Lingus recently announced that they had taken 500,000 bookings for services in Belfast since last December, this is due to increase to 700,000 before the end of the year. Flle to Malaga with AL from Belfast last week, fab staff, spotless cabin, lovley food and great service planes were about 95% full both ways, would be intersting to see hoe Easyjet or Jet2 are doing - because all they seem to be doing is pulling routes from Belfast Int and focusing on their bases in England..
i'm going to be flying on aer lingus next summer to my sisters wedding in irlenad but i'm a lil scared about geting on a plane think anyone could help me out plz.
You'll do fine with the Aer Lingus. They are fantastic, no airline is as good as it used to be before flying became like bus travel, but Aer Lingus is still way ahead of most.

when they say self service, does this refer to when you ask for a cup of water, the air hostess tells you to go up to the galley and get it yourself as she is busy reading her newspaper?and don't tell me they were too busy as one hostess talked to two blokes for nearly four hours solid.worst airline ever.
They actualy said self service check-in , i think you forgot to type the "check-in" part and if you think the crew are bad then you should try flying Ryanair !
P.S getting your own drink from the galley is standard on most long haul flights and with all airlines in econmy.
i've flown ryanair many times and considering the price (0-40euro)i've always found the staff very professional and polite, compared to aerlingus longhaul flight to states with seat upgrade (nearly a grand!!!)for the prices they charge they should at least be polite to the customers.
Aer Lingus holds a special place in the hearts of the Irish people.Symbolizing our Independence, our friendly image and our heritage. Aer Lingus is a national symbol, a necessity to the economy and a source of great pride. A symbol for us like the shamrock and the pint of Guinness
Aer Lingus was celecbrating it's 250,000th Belfast Booking this week - load factors were up on overall short haul routes to 78% - which Commercial Director Enda Corneille said was due to "a strong Belfast performance"! I recently flew on their Rome service from BFS and outgoing flight was about 80% full and return flight was about 98% full.
65% out of Shannon and dying and the average was €45, they are on average £55 out of Belfast, whats makes sense,!!! Get over it the Belfast to London route has on average 75% load factor in the 1st 2 months, thats much more than Shannon could ever acheive. Limerick in not Belfast and Belfast is not Limerick - thanks be to god....
70% out of LHR, despite having the NI government and civil service contract, they were on 92% regular from Shannon. They've slashed prices ex Aldergrove to less than half those out of Dublin on similar routes and can only attract 65% to Barcelona, these are bucketshop seats pricewise btw. It's the last 35% that actually turn the profit on a load not the 1 euro + taxes crowd.
Believe what you want, but those AMS figures will haunt the next shareholders meeting. & the Rome & Budapest figures are?
Budapest figures are not out yet but from what I have heard it's doing well. There is no competition and it's a very popular destination with many in Northern Ireland. Rome I havent heard anything about yet. One route I forgot to mention was Geneva, doing very well indeed and proving a perfect winter route. Considering it's the low season and Aer Lingus is up against easyjet on a lot of routes they are doing very well!

Looks like the Belfast gamble is falling apart. Amsterdam flights halved....load factors of 28% on other flights...giveaway fares that the tight-fisted nordies are still shunning. Hope Mannion still has good connections with Emirates. No bail out from the taxpayers this time. Bye, bye Aer Lingus, Northern Irelands favourite freestate airline.
Wait for the BFS-LHR slots turn into LHR-U.S. slots!

You forgot that you have to pay for that assigned seating. And the ad also says with self-service check-in you don't have to queue. WRONG!!!! I did, and then I had to join ANOTHER queue to put my bag on the plane.
You don't have to pay for assigned seating, Aer Lingus will assign you a seat for free at check in no matter what. You only get charged if you select you seat online and that's your choice, it's easy to avoid that charge. The self service check in machines are usually great, dropping you bag off has always been quick for me.
I booked a flt wit ryanair for 1 cent+ with all the taxes&charges it was 55 euro. Not bad i thought!! then my cousin who was susposed 2 travell with me booked Aer Lingus on the same day + route for 10 euro + the all in total was 46 euro!!!!!!!!!!! Cant get much better than that.!
Good ad, low fares are good and well, but I'm all for paying a bit more for service...
Lowest fares attract the kind of people who just spend their saved money getting drunk in the departure lounge and fail to show up when the doors close, delaying everyone else.
Who really wants to travel at the bottom of the pile anyway
aer lingus does hold a place in alot of ur lifes, and also sadness to family immigration

This is what I have heard from passengers and staff:
Belfast - Heathrow 70% regular load factor.
Belfast - Barcelona 65% load factor.
Belfast - Faro 75-80% load factor, increase in flights this Easter due to high demand.
Belfast - Malaga 80%, increase in flights this Easter due to high demand.
Belfast - Amsterdam less than 20%.
So the Belfast base isn't doing as bad as some would like to think.

Assigned seating is free , seat sletion on-line is what you have to pay for. Get your facts right.
Locker10a 3 years ago
actually
-all Aer Lingus airports are where they say they are
-all airlines use the same departures area at DUB
-simple website for a LCC
-best standard on transatlantic from dublin, have you seen the US carriers
-yes sometimes more expensive than FR but a better standard of service than FR by far
-late arrivals because planes are actually serviced where they land, and if something is wrong they don't send them up anyway the way FR do
-aer lingus are the best by far, better than FR anyway
