Was so great how Letterman had the balls to actually make a "black plow man" joke only seconds after it obviously made him and the audience pause in discomfort. Most TV hosts (including Letterman himself these days) would have just tried to sidestep the whole thing and put it behind them. Letterman's confident, whimsical ability to throw caution into the wind and go for a joke was really something to watch.
